That doesn't involve standing over the oven? I'm melting in my office and not looking forward to cooking tea later...

ClaudiaWankleman probably cos its still in the 30's here at that time and the sun is still bloody strong!!

Lightningrain · 20/07/2021 14:26

Homemade pizza in the pizza oven and yesterday we had bbq Cajun chicken and salad.

BarberQueue · 20/07/2021 14:27

I do a lot of cooking but haven't turned my oven on for nearly a week now. We've grilled on the BBQ various things: burgers, sausages, halloumi, chicken kebabs, chick breasts, vegetables and had them with various salads for three or four nights. We've also had various pasta/bean salad combinations. We had a quiche I made a few weeks ago and froze as well as a chilli con carne that was in the freezer. I've just planned next week's meals which involve minimum oven use too.

I do understand they do it differently in Spain, but it's not that weird to eat dinner at 7:30 somewhere hot.

joystir59 · 20/07/2021 14:32

Cooking???? As for all that meat you are all cooking, I think you are insane. Just had brunch of water melon and feta.

OceanTurtles · 20/07/2021 14:32

I'm just going to put some sausages in the oven that need to be used from the fridge with some salad for DS who's 2. I cannot be bothered to eat in this weather.

Carrotca · 20/07/2021 14:34

My daughter usually eats everything but is being a fuss pot right now. She loves cheesey pasta with ham hock and veg mixed in, usually peas and broccoli. Doesn't take long at all. Also the salmon and noodles is my favourite too. Xx

Carrotca · 20/07/2021 14:35

Tuna salad. Cold potatoes, hard boiled eggs, green beans, tuna. Yum x

Undertheoldlindentree · 20/07/2021 14:37

Salmon fillets, butter, herbs....15-20 mins in oven in greaseproof paper parcels. Basmati rice, roasted veg, hollandaise sauce.

emmathedilemma · 20/07/2021 14:40

Chicken stir fry and noodles, 10min max cooking time on the hob.

grannycake · 20/07/2021 14:43

Spanish omelette and a green salad

The Christmas before last I cooked and ate a full traditional Christmas in over 30 degree heat. Not for the first time either.

HeHatesMeStill · 20/07/2021 14:44

I've got pork in the oven roasting but not sure what to do with it, maybe pasta and a sauce or something

LavenderOnMyRoof · 20/07/2021 14:44

pasta pesto salad

PhoneLock · 20/07/2021 14:45

Christmas dinner that should say.

drivinmecrazy · 20/07/2021 14:45

ClaudiaWankleman I know but personally I would rather cook and eat when it's cooler.
Must admit at home in U.K. we don't eat til 8 anyway.
Horses for courses I guess.
Just really rankles me that DM insists on me cooking to her specification and then complaining that we don't eat.
A whole different thread!!!! Grin

Last night I made spanakopita with lemon new potatoes and Greek salad, tonight it’s chicken fajitas.
Cereal sounds great.

WeatherwaxOn · 20/07/2021 14:48

Getting a takeaway!

SweatyBetty20 · 20/07/2021 14:49

I’m doing exactly the same as @ODFOx (which has freaked me out a bit!) - have visitors for tea.

Saggybaggyaggy · 20/07/2021 14:50

To avoid another salad bibimbap tonight.

Korean dish. Sushi rice, pickled carrot, courgette and mushroom. Kimchi. Fried egg on top. Delicious spicy sauce. I might have prawns with mine.

Thenose · 20/07/2021 14:51

Salad can be very satisfying if you add in good amounts of meat, starch and fat. We've been having, pre-prepared (by me):

Sliced marinated chicken
Hard-boiled eggs
Boiled new potatoes

Pasta with spicy tomato sauce and feta
Oil and vinegar dressings

^You can make 3 days worth of these to save cooking.

With freshly prepared:

Green salad
Crunchy (carrot & cabbage) salad
Tricolour salad with lots of tomatoes
Thinly sliced peppers
Sliced spring onions
Sliced avocados with olive oil and salt
Fruit salad

And seasonings, bacon bits, croutons & mayo from the cupboard.

Upwherethebirdsfly · 20/07/2021 14:52

Fajitas, tortilla pizza (DD), beans leftovers (DS)
