What is the atmosphere like where you are (Yes it's football related. Sorry!!)

London borough (nowhere near Wembley) and you wouldn't know it's an hour before kick off.

No music, no-one in thier gardens, no TV noise, no chatter or banter.

I'm quite surprised disappointed

I'm going to put my England playlist on and trailblaze Grin

I'm in a small town in Staffordshire, have seen one house decorated and a handful of cars with flags.
On Facebook a couple of the local pubs have said they're fully booked.

TheatricalGiraffe · 11/07/2021 19:05

We're in a fairly quiet area, theres no pubs around us (It's purely houses and a small tesco and a pizza hut collection).. Nearest pub is just over a mile away

So it's a fairly calm chilled environment. Partner has gone to get the pizza from pizza hut and we're going to have a movie night :)

igelkott2021 · 11/07/2021 19:06

It's hammering down with rain where I am so I guess that's put paid to the garden parties/BBQs.

Paddingtonthebear · 11/07/2021 19:08

I live in a naice quiet road inhabited by pensioners who appear to have no interest in football. Did hear my elderly female neighbour clapping for the tennis though 🙂

Weebleweeble · 11/07/2021 19:09

Rural Scotland - DH has gone to meet up with others at nearest pub (10 miles away) - nice evening watching footie or not,,,,,,,,

Finfintytint · 11/07/2021 19:10

No real interest ( Scotland) Grin

dementedma · 11/07/2021 19:11

Scotland. Say no more ...

Sometimesonly · 11/07/2021 19:13

I'm in Italy. Everything is pretty quiet at the moment. We ordered a pizza at 7pm (normally later but they said they were all booked up for later - wonder why?) Someone wrote Forza Italia across our car back windscreen. I am hoping it's because it was dirty, rather than a sign that they know I am English!!

PurBal · 11/07/2021 19:13

Rural. We are one of 6 properties and our neighbours all elderly, not to say they’re not interested in football but doubt they’ll make a significant noise. As peaceful as always. I’m not even sure I’ve seen a flag in the village.

ssd · 11/07/2021 19:13

I just drove back from asda and seen a couple of italy flags ....
I'm in Glasgow

Midnightballerina · 11/07/2021 19:14

My pub is packed. They are singing sweet Caroline at the moment. England flags & painted faces all round. The atmosphere is fantastic.

elfycat · 11/07/2021 19:14

Small town in Suffolk, I live opposite a pub though.

DD1 (12) want to shout at them to stop singing. She says there's not even words, and was disgusted with me when I said there was and sang 'England' (3 syllables) at her for a bit.

She's just miffed because she's got to be at school for 9, and her sister (10yo) can go in by 10.30 tomorrow.

whiteroseredrose · 11/07/2021 19:16

I'm on my own in an hotel room because DS is having an operation tomorrow. Hoping the surgeon doesn't drink too much!

At home neighbours are having a party.

MagicSummer · 11/07/2021 19:16

Nothing at all (thank God!). The tennis was wonderful, though! No people setting off flares and fireworks, no fighting or scaling of statues, just good-humoured support and clapping. My kind of sport.

00100001 · 11/07/2021 19:17

Lots of BBQs happening.

Gone quiet now.

Well except for the people behind us who have a big screen and marquee thing going on.

SunshineCake · 11/07/2021 19:18

No one with flags except my drawn ones. Neighbour has people round and they will be rowdy later.

Plump82 · 11/07/2021 19:18

Im just outside Glasgow. One neighbour has an Italy flag up. We bought pizza from a new pizzeria in support of Italy. It was awful. I hope that's not an omen!

Haudyourwheesht · 11/07/2021 19:19

The local Italian and chippy (also Italian owned) are decorated and attracting some good natured hooting of horns. Nice enough atmosphere.

FionnulaTheCooler · 11/07/2021 19:21

Also Scotland, haven't seen or heard anything in person but a few Facebook friends have made posts cheering Italy on for tonight. Personally I couldn't give two fucks about football and will be watching The Handmaid's Tale.

TheAwfuITruth · 11/07/2021 19:22

I can hear a bit of chatter from neighbours who have people round. Other than that, it's just house alarms going off in the distance- there's a huge power cut nearby, not expected to be fixed until midnight. All those people who now can't watch 🥲

We were right on the boundary 😬

Grrr, genuinely wrong thread! Will report and repost it where I meant to. Seems goady but not meant to be.

puppygalore · 11/07/2021 19:24

North West, travelled from another city back to Manchester earlier and in lots of lay-bys around the A52 were kids (with parents) waving England flags and banners cheering. I beeped and waved at them all. So if that was you and your kids around Ashbourne, Leek and Macc you all really cheered me up on the journey from hell (that culminated in a car breakdown 😭) Arrived home after waiting for a tow and it's dead as a dodo round here! I did expect more really, not sure why it's so quiet. DH is in a pub in town so bet he's having a different experience!

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 11/07/2021 19:26

Residential area of Bournemouth. Quiet street. Nobodies out. Some flags hanging from windows. All the shops/take away places have shut early which has really fucking annoyed me because ive got nothing in

takemehometoasda · 11/07/2021 19:27

Normally quiet area, not urban.

Been getting progressively louder throughout the day with people using fucking airhorns and whooping at random.

I have PTSD and I've been having flashbacks all day because of it. I knew the evening would be bad but didn't realise I had to write the whole day off.

You can have fun without making things miserable for others.
