What is the atmosphere like where you are (Yes it's football related. Sorry!!)

London borough (nowhere near Wembley) and you wouldn't know it's an hour before kick off.

No music, no-one in thier gardens, no TV noise, no chatter or banter.

I'm quite surprised disappointed

I'm going to put my England playlist on and trailblaze Grin

DP is self isolating so we can’t go to the pub and it’s tipping down here so no one is outside and it’s totally dead!

lakesummer · 11/07/2021 19:30

USA here, was mentioned in the news as a potential super spreader event for Covid but happily that is all I have to put up with.

OublietteBravo · 11/07/2021 19:32

Bedford. Ordinary residential street (close to the town centre). The pub across the road is LOUD, and has been since about 4pm. About 1/3 Italy supporters and 2/3 England supporters judging by the colours people are wearing. Cars double parked (car park filled with seating - big screen on the wall outside). Flags everywhere. Hoping the rain will arrive as forecast and dampen everything down. It can be rowdy even without the football.

countrygirl99 · 11/07/2021 19:34

I live near Bedford. Whoever wins there will be celebrating.

Silvergreen · 11/07/2021 19:34

I live in a very quiet and green part of London (yes, they exist!) and I have my windows open - I can hear literally nothing except birdsong - no cars or people because they're all inside!

Xiaoxiong · 11/07/2021 19:35

It's blowing a gale here in Cornwall, but even if It wasn't I don't think there would be any noise - I haven't seen a single flag or anything.

Silvergreen · 11/07/2021 19:35

I'm ten minutes away from a very lively place full of pubs so I will expect a bit of singing from people on their way home.

Bananarice · 11/07/2021 19:35

In a London borough, few people got flags on their windows. However, things are quite now. I heard cheeing for England's goals, on Wednesday. I'm expecting the same and I have prepared dc before bed, for unexpected noise tonight.

I hope England wins, but I like pp will be watching The Handmaid's Tale and listening out for dc being woken by happy people.

delilahbucket · 11/07/2021 19:36

Very quiet cul-de-sac but our new neighbours have continued as they started when they moved in just before Christmas. Mates round, shouting and screaming been on going in the garden since 5pm, trampled through our garden repeatedly, leaving the gates open (while we secretly hope they let the dog out and he escapes), smoking right by our windows constantly so we've had to shut them and the kids are going between thundering around the house and tantrums. It's an atmosphere, but certainly not a joyous one. I'd rather be in a beer garden.

ProfYaffle · 11/07/2021 19:38

All quiet where I live but I just spoke to my Mum who says my Dad (aged 70) has gone to the pub but they had to be there by 5pm as they were locking the doors! 3 hrs of drinking before it even starts!

Purplecatshopaholic · 11/07/2021 19:38

Central Scotland. No real interest that I can see. I have seen a few Italy flags while out with the dog…

isitjustlockdown · 11/07/2021 19:39

London borough (not Wembley but not far). Jubilant feeling, but if singing, car horns etc. All in good spirits though, not like the disappointing scenes in Wembley, Leicester Square etc.

Daisy829 · 11/07/2021 19:40

Quiet here but most of our friends have a child isolating due to school bubble closures (us included) so we are just watching it at home in our pjs. We live in a road full of elderly people too, our neighbours who we get in well with are poorly with covid. There’s some big screens around the area which I’ve seen are busy.

Wegobshite · 11/07/2021 19:44

We have a pub at the bottom of our garden - say no more 😂😂😂
I don’t even need to watch the football I can hear everything
My dogs are out on the deck looking down at the pub garden and will be barking along with them in a bit 😂😂

Midnightballerina · 11/07/2021 19:47

Well good luck to you who ever you are supporting I hope your dreams come true
If you are wanting a quiet night in I hope you get it.

In the south east, it’s pissing it down otherwise I imagine there’d be bbqs galore round here, it’s a busy town. In the last 10 minutes or so the road noise has nearly all but silenced.
Just us home tonight, dh and ds will be watching, dd1 is watching a film online with a friend, dd2 will be playing her guitar, I’m just running a bath!

BastardMonkfish · 11/07/2021 19:51

Quiet here. Hope everyone has a peaceful night, and all the drunk partners coming home behave themselves.

PearlNextDoor · 11/07/2021 19:52

Im in Ireland and yet every man seems to be blocking off this evening. No dog in the race, but terribly keen to watch the beatiful game and talk about it ad infinitum 🍷

PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle · 11/07/2021 19:53

London borough, South of the river. Streets quite busy. But all related to a different sporting event!
Well done Djocovik!!!

Toomuchtooyoung01 · 11/07/2021 19:53

Lots of England flags on houses/cars around here. Am sure the pubs will all be busy but we’re watching at home on the sofa!

PearlNextDoor · 11/07/2021 19:54

Ps i know women like football too.... sorry. None of my friends mind you.

coogee · 11/07/2021 19:54

I can hear some sheep and a buzzard.

It’s just started raining and cat has come in grumbling.

MotherOfDemons · 11/07/2021 19:56

Wee bit of music from the neighbors about 10 mins ago. A LOT of students have been past all kitted out in flags, all smiles and positie.

OH is eating pizza and sweating Grin

NotMyCat · 11/07/2021 20:06

Absolutely silent, not a car on the road. Until there's a goal Grin I don't even need to watch it, just open my window

hiredandsqueak · 11/07/2021 20:20

Can't hear anything here although a few houses have had flags up for the last few weeks. I imagine we will hear cheering from the pub down the road as time goes on.
