I'm alone in the cinema and a bit freaked out

My first visit in almost a year. I'm sitting here alone in a semi dark screening room waiting for the film to start and it's all a bit weirdGrin. I've had a look on the booking app and it seem they have indeed sold one ticket for this screening but now worried someone strange will randomly turn up at the last minute!

What are you watching? :)

NavigatingAdolescence · 11/07/2021 13:13

My idea of heaven!

SupermanInk · 11/07/2021 13:13

You’re not watching a horror film are you? 😱

SleepingStandingUp · 11/07/2021 13:13

Oh enjoy it, I found it really exciting last lockdown release to see pinnochio alone. But they do that thing where a person comes in and welcomes everyone and says of anyone has any problems etc which was giggle inducing and embarrassing. I gave hi ma round of applause, it was his first day back.

What are you seeing?

Laiste · 11/07/2021 13:13

I hope you're warmer than i was when i went for the first time in ages a couple of weeks ago. I was bloody freezing!

IHaveBrilloHair · 11/07/2021 13:18

I'm hoping for this when I go on this week, surely there can't be many other saddos people who want to see West Side Story on a Tuesday afternoon.

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 11/07/2021 13:20

I had this once and a man came in just before the film started and sat one seat away from me!
(This was in the times before anyone took any notice of their allocated seating)

larkstar · 11/07/2021 13:22

I saw The Life of Brian - skipped some lectures one day when I was at uni - I was the only person in it - it was very strange - I thought I might have been sitting in the wrong theatre and was amazed when the trailers actually started. I laughed out loud - that was the weird part. I obviously went at an odd time of day - somewhere were I wouldn't be seen.

😬 I would find that a bit creepy.

Eastie77 · 11/07/2021 13:22

I'm watching Nomadland, starts in a few minutes. Not exactly a blockbuster so I thought it would be quiet but not this quiet! One person has turned up, an elderly man sitting right at the front and I'm in the back row so hopefully should be okGrin

I had this last week watching In the Heights. It was a lovely experience to be honest, although I was a bit put out that they didn’t pause it when I went to the loo Wink

Your problem will be that if there's only one other person who hasn't noticed you, they're likely to start carolling along with 'If you're a Jet, you're a Jet all the way/ From your first cigarette to your last dying day!' and possibly a spot of moody finger-clicking, maybe a bit of gang ballet in the aisles. I had to sit in my allocated ticket seat and they brought out ice creams just for me in the intermission.

Extreme social distancing. 🤣

Mrsjayy · 11/07/2021 13:26

Nomsn

Mrsjayy · 11/07/2021 13:27

Sorry 😞 Nomadland is great I loved it even if you are on your own enjoy

Kanaloa · 11/07/2021 13:27

People pay A LOT for private screenings! I’d just enjoy it - hope when I go to the cinema next week I have it all to myself.

IHaveBrilloHair · 11/07/2021 13:30

I've been twice recently, first time there were 12 people, second time, 7, including us.
It's either quiet in General or I choose shit films!

Souther · 11/07/2021 13:31

As a student this was common.

There would be about 5 people in total at the cinema if you waited for an couple of weeks after the film had been released

IHaveBrilloHair · 11/07/2021 13:33

Fountaining, I'm hoping to do a loud singalong to, "I feel pretty", then eat cheesey nachos Grin

Mrsjayy · 11/07/2021 13:35

Before covid me and Dd went to see Dark phoenix was us and a guy on his own it was actually a terrible film I think people knew how bad it was going to be Hmm

PivotPivotPivottt · 11/07/2021 13:38

Oh I'd be freaked out. The Scream cinema scene is the first thing I thought of sorry Grin
