Arsehole neighbours

Need a moan and I'm beyond fucked off with my neighbours today.
What is wrong with people these days? Why has no one any consideration for their neighbours anymore?

We've had 8hrs (so far - it's still ongoing) of wanky dance music played through a massive sound system. As far as we were aware, it was supposed to be a small kids party. The kids are no older than 10 so surely this shite music isn't what they listen to? It's so loud it's shaking the house.

I have a 1yr old who couldn't nap or go down tonight due to her room being like a disco. It's horrendous. She's been up since 6am so she's causing havoc. The noisy twats have quite a few kids so must know how awful it is when other people stop your kids sleeping but they obviously don't care now that theirs are older.

That sounds horrendous. I'd be phoning the Police on that level of noise.

Our NDN's have left their 2 large dogs since around 2pm today. They're in the house, barking non stop and it's getting louder and louder. I've had to shut all the windows as I can't bear to listen but our upstairs is boiling hot.

Sunbird24 · 10/07/2021 22:39

Until you said you’d got a 1yr old I was thinking you could have been my nearly-neighbours - the family in between us have done this today.
You can’t say anything as the standard response is “if you want quiet you should move to the middle of nowhere”. Spoiler alert, I did, then you bastards moved in next door!

CatrinVennastin · 10/07/2021 22:49

Ours are partying again tonight OP so I feel your pain.

Last night was piggy back races up and down their garden accompanied by lots of screaming and shrieking and blasting music.

It’s been on our street WhatsApp group today as people four or five houses away were thinking wtf!

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 10/07/2021 22:51

@Sunbird24 we're semi-rural and moved to get away from noisy neighbours. We've never come across noise like this before though - it's still going and getting louder.
There's not many houses here so people are unlikely to get involved. As we're likely to get the blame anyway I've called the council and reported it.
It's been non stop noise from one neighbour or another for the 6mths we've been here. Never thought we could get worse than our previous nightmare neighbours 😢

OP posts:
PissedOffNeighbour22 · 10/07/2021 22:54

@spinningspaniels the police won't get involved, said it's nothing to do with them (even though it's happening on land that doesn't actually belong to the neighbours). I've called the council to report it, but that doesn't stop the noise when it's happening :(
Keep getting my hopes up that it's finished but it starts again louder after a minute or so.
I feel for you with the barking dog issue, it's enough to drive you mad isn't it.

My neighbours once deemed it fit to play music til the early hours when they knew I worked shifts. Weirdest thing was they had kids, I didn’t.
Next day I left my music on as I left for work with my Kenwood speakers against their wall for hours on end.
Never happened again.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 10/07/2021 22:57

@CatrinVennastin that sounds awful. At least ours isn't every night, but it really does seem that hardly anyone cares about their impact on others these days.
There's no way your neighbours don't know how annoying they are.

Thankfully my baby has now fallen asleep through exhaustion (and calpol for teething).

OP posts:
PissedOffNeighbour22 · 10/07/2021 22:59

@Longdistance I always dreamed of doing that to my previous knobhead neighbours but I know she'd have retaliated badly.
Unfortunately I can't do that to these idiots as they're detached (I'm in a semi detached next door but one).

firefly123 · 10/07/2021 23:04

Gosh that sounds horrendous. I am so sorry. I don't understand why people are so selfish

Kris70 · 10/07/2021 23:06

God, this makes me so angry. One of the worst things about living in the U.K. is how small and closely packed the houses are. We have so little space and silence. Noisy neighbours literally ruin people’s lives.

Howcanthisbe123 · 10/07/2021 23:14

People need to let off steam now and then and enjoy time together having fun.

Anyone would think there has been lockdowns.

Sunbird24 · 10/07/2021 23:15

The general consensus on our local fb page is that anyone who doesn’t like all the noise is miserable and boring, and should just suck it up because ‘everyone’s allowed to enjoy themselves’. Except those of us who prefer to do it in peace and quiet apparently.

Wheelz46 · 10/07/2021 23:15

My Gran used to live next door to some obnoxious neighbours who constantly belted out their music and it upset my Gran no end, she couldn't sleep and walked round like a zombie.

Now this was the 80s and her neighbours were probably around 30 at the time and although it was classical it was extremely loud and she wasn't comfortable confronting them.

Anyhow, she went away on holiday, leaving me and my best friend to look after her house, well I was a sensible girlie back in the day and she knew she could trust me. The downside for the neighbours, we liked our rave music!!!!

Normally wouldn't play it loud so that it was for our ears only but having endured what my Gran put up with for the last few months, we brought our stereo with big speakers, jammed in our rave music, put it on full pelt and pushed the speakers to the joining wall, it completely drowned theirs out, they were fuming, ha ha.

Came knocking on the door, we didn't answer, obviously, but that was the end of it, my Gran never heard another peep out of them, ha ha.

Could you give them a taste of their own medicine?

Sunbird24 · 10/07/2021 23:18

@Howcanthisbe123 the lockdown had no impact on my neighbours at all, they’ve been doing this every weekend that wasn’t kissing down with rain ever since they moved in. I wouldn’t mind if it was just every now and then, but it’s constant.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 10/07/2021 23:23

You are not alone.

Barking dogs. Braying guests. Drunken shrieks. Screaming children. From 0900 this morning. Still going. Just getting worse.

They have form. Years of it.

I have all the windows shut. Ear plugs in. Radio on. Moved to other side of the house.

I still hear them.

I despise them with every ounce of my being.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 10/07/2021 23:24

@Howcanthisbe123 they've been 'letting off steam' for over 9 hours through fucking loudspeakers. It's time they shut the fuck up.

OP posts:
PissedOffNeighbour22 · 10/07/2021 23:27

@SheldonesqueTheBstard sounds like the neighbours I moved away from. Couldn't wait to move. Seem to have jumped from the frying pan into the fryer. We can't afford to move again now and the house is a money pit :(

OP posts:
PissedOffNeighbour22 · 10/07/2021 23:29

It's worrying how many people have awful neighbours. Shame we can't force the crap ones to all live together and then the rest of us can live in peace.

OP posts:
MrsMoastyToasty · 10/07/2021 23:30

Wait until their hangovers are kicking in and then start vacuuming with your music on at full blast. Isn't it funny how you have a real passion for bagpipes!

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 10/07/2021 23:31

@Howcanthisbe123 just to be clear, I don't mean normal speakers. I mean full DJ kit with huge outdoor event speakers. Wankers.

OP posts:
PissedOffNeighbour22 · 10/07/2021 23:35

@MrsMoastyToasty sadly they're not attached so nothing we do will bother them. There's a neighbour in between too and we don't want to piss him off.

My DP is working nights and couldn't get any sleep before his shift due to their noise which has also annoyed me. It'll be noisy tomorrow too as they seem to spend every Sunday cutting metal and using a massive digger.

OP posts:
SheldonesqueTheBstard · 10/07/2021 23:38

Usually get someone on to say ‘if you can’t stand the noise you can move away’

I shouldn’t fucking have to.

Admittedly, I am tired as I was in nightshift last night and have been unable to sleep. At all. So my tolerance of idiots is down.

You will know they have been unaffected by lockdown as Covid recommendations never applied to them.

And they had the gall to shame people for not clapping or displaying rainbows…

In my dreams, I’d I won the euromillions, I would buy Bell Rock.

SynchroSwimmer · 10/07/2021 23:44

In similar extreme situations like yours OP, i have resorted to getting the petrol mower/ chain saw / wood cutting gear going at 8 a.m. the next morning - to very good effect...

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 10/07/2021 23:48

@SheldonesqueTheBstard exactly! You shouldn't have to move. I loved my previous home. Until the neighbours from hell moved in. I had to take a loss just to get away from them. Jumped too quickly and ended up in a similar situation.

Restrictions don't apply to my neighbour either. No rules apply to them because they're loaded 🙄.

OP posts:
SheldonesqueTheBstard · 10/07/2021 23:51

Just once me and the other side neighbour went full hose on them in the small hours.

I’m waiting on a call to arms.

If it were but a few times a year? I’d cope. But shift work and holes don’t mix and I’m not known for my tolerance as I age.
