Tell me about your weird phobias

I have two that I think are fairly rare:

1. if I look at (or think about) intricate things with pointy bits on, like for example a circuit board or the ends of a fork, I imagine the pointy bits going into my eyes I and I mentally kind of curl in on myself
2. I can’t stand anyone one touching me in the middle of my chest and will freak out if it happens.

There’s no rhyme or reason to either of these as far as I know. I’ve never had an accident or traumatic experience involving either these areas - just odd I guess?
Do you have any odd phobias?

Empty swimming pools. As in, no water in them. They're so creepy. Luckily don't come across them often!

Antique shops

@FlatteredFool - I hate this too, have you heard of misophonia?

I hate the sound, texture and “sensation” of polystyrene.

Also heights. I know it’s not an unusual one but even that old photo of the workmen in NYC on an iron girder eating their lunches makes me feel panicky

Another one for stickers here. My toddler is starting to get into them and I don’t know if it’s worse to ban them or try to deal with it and then him see me have a panic attack 😬

Snapchat filters that make your face a funny shape or into animal. I’m ok with the sparkly “pretty” ones but anything else just noooooo. Also that app that swaps your face onto someone else. Just NO, absolutely TERRIFYING

I hate polystyrene, the feel of it and the awful sound it makes when you pull it out of a cardboard box
Also slightly weird but i sometimes get a horrible intrusive thought of running the side of my finger nail down a piece of paper, the sensation of it makes me cringe sooo hard and i don't know why.

Velvet. Even the sound of someone else touching it makes my skin crawl. As does writing this post!!!

@Mummyneedsacoffee I’ve heard of this a few times, what is it about them?

@StorminaBcup. You know I actually don’t know?!

I can just about cope with them on clothing (just) but if they are loose I can’t touch them or go near them. My neighbour does pictures made out of buttons and they make me sweat. It’s odd and I wish I knew why!!

I’m petrified of swimming pools - empty they’re fine, but full of water makes me feel faint. It’s specifically the water filtration grids that I’m terrified of.

I’ve had some therapy to try and get past it which has sort of worked, but still a long way to go.

I don’t like balloons but significantly better with them now.
