Thank goodness for that.

At least it spares the family a full trial.

I hope the sentence is a whole life tariff.

Yes. It reminds me a bit of the Chris Watts case in the States. Everyone thought he was a lovely family guy. No red flags. Then, BAM.

Terrifying to think you might unknowingly be acquainted with, or neighbours to such a person and there’s no way to spot them.

@RickiTarr I remember the Chris Watts case as we were in the USA on holiday at the time. It was all over the News channels and constantly showing the CCTV footage of how cool, calm and collected he was when the police came to the house. At the time it was reported that he was a typical sociopath where he wasn't capable of empathy or guilt even for his own family...

MotionActivatedDog · 09/07/2021 21:51

Chris watts sprang to mind for me too when I read WC wife’s comments about him having the lovely family and home etc.

Ooodlesofboodles · 09/07/2021 22:01

The Times is reporting that she died of compression to the neck.
Porn sick scum.
The porn has to stop.

RoseAndRose · 09/07/2021 22:08

@coulditbecominghome

I can't see him not getting a full life tariff, there would be outrage.
Whole life tarifffs are quite rare, but I think it's shaping up that for him.

His guilty plea would usually result in a shorter tariff, but the nature of the crime and his role as a police officer may well outweigh that. It surely wont be lower than 30 years (sexual and sadistic)?

@RoseAndRose yes it's so high profile & the Met need to be seen to be taking it seriously if you see what I mean.

x2boys · 09/07/2021 22:59

I don't think we should condemn this women, nobody knows what she abd her family have beeb through, this is an extremely odd case quite possibly she wasn't aware I any way.

MotionActivatedDog · 09/07/2021 23:00

Nobody was condemning her.

RickiTarr · 09/07/2021 23:02

No I don’t believe she was aware @x2boys

She must have had a horrible few months.

It's too late. That ship has sailed. Plus those in charge will be consuming it too.

[quote RickiTarr]According to the Guardian a police inspectorate investigation has already cleared the police of wrongdoing. This doesn’t really make sense. Any of it;

This seems only to be in reference to the way they handled the vigil. It's poorly written in that article.

Other reports say they have issued loads of internal charges for the poor handling of his previous offences.

Which is a bit better isn’t it? I’m still curious to hear all the findings of all the different reviews and so on.

Yet others say it’s for sharing WhatsApp memes about the murder. Maybe it’s both.

It looks like it's a number of things, including the WA stuff and the exposure, plus a previous exposure in Kent. They obviously can't say very much until all investigations are completed and even then the individuals concerned have some right to privacy.

KatherineJaneway · 10/07/2021 06:45

It is sensible of the wife to talk to the press. Rightly or wrongly focus is back on her and questions such as did she know, how could she not have known, didn't she see any clues, did she try and give him an alibi etc are being asked. Better to get out in front of it. Everyone in the area and the school already knows who she and the dc are, they are not in hiding. Better to give an interview and stop the press hounding them.

MsTSwift · 10/07/2021 06:51

Wife is utterly blameless not her fault.

Remember the campaign by a lovely family a few years ago when their young adult daughter was murdered by her friends partner he was a heavy consumer of violent strangling porn. Sadly their campaign failed and if anything this has actually got worse over the years. It needs banning. Do the people involved in the industry not feel guilty? They have blood on their hands.

MsTSwift · 10/07/2021 06:57

I suspect he will kill himself now.

ButteringMyArse · 10/07/2021 07:36

@AlternativePerspective

@ MotionActivatedDog if she didn’t go to the press, they would go to her. Are you really naive enough to think that the tabloids wouldn’t hunt her down for a quote? An interview? An opinion?

And if she refused to say anything they would just make it up. The tabloids are notorious for that, and by the time they publish the apology they do it in such a way that it’s buried somewhere towards the back pages and meanwhile they’ve ruined a woman’s life.

And if she didn’t speak to the press then people would just want to know why, and what she had to hide.

It seems she’s damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t, but it’s naive to think the press won’t print stories about her if she refused to speak to them.

If they couldn’t speak to her they would probably go and find her friends, the mothers of her children’s friends, her children’s head teacher. Maybe even go to Ukraine to speak to her family.

Yes to all of this. It's extremely obvious why she's chosen to do the interview and it's the best of the shit choices available to her.

I would hope in the aftermath of the latest on the Daniel Morgan case they will not brush anything under the carpet

malteasergeezer · 10/07/2021 11:53

@MotionActivatedDog

Killing him would be a mercy. He doesn’t deserve that.
Yep. Let him rot. Plus being a copper in prison will not bode well for his safety. It soudns horrible but if he was attacked I wouldn't shed a tear.
AlternativePerspective · 10/07/2021 14:56

@ MsTSwift I predict that he will be found dead in his cell prior to sentencing.

Alternatively he will try to claim diminished responsibility on the basis of mental health, and request to be moved to a secure psychiatric unit.

As much as I think that he is a despicable human being, I don’t think there is anything to celebrate when a violent offender is attacked by another violent offenders, most of whom are rapists and murderers in their own right purely for the notoriety of “having done in a copper.”

If he is attacked it won’t be because of what he’s done, it will be so that others can claim the glory. And most of those have probably raped and murddered women and their partners in their own right.

Being in a secure psychiatric unit isn't really a better option, I had a, placement in a, medium secure unit when I was training to be a mental unit, it was a miserable place, every door had to be unlocked as you went through them and locked behind you, So I imagine a high secure hospital can only be worse.
x2boys · 10/07/2021 15:48

Mental unit =mental health nurse

baldafrique · 10/07/2021 15:53

He will definitely commit suicide
