Thank goodness for that.

At least it spares the family a full trial.

I hope the sentence is a whole life tariff.
@RickiTarr I'm not convinced that life in prison for him will be difficult as for starters he will be kept in isolation from other prisoners to prevent him being attacked. Also, he'll be constantly monitored / on suicide watch. He'll be able to study, have hobbies etc and basically make demands and be given them due to his vulnerable 'mental health'. How on earth is that punishment?
If you “take the numbers” (isolation) in prison, you are in an isolation unit, spend long periods of time in solitary (a torture method in many places) and the only people you get to associate with are dodgy coppers, child killers and paedophiles.

It’s no fun.

Sorry to hear that @Theunamedcat - that is very unfair.

@MotionActivatedDog I guess we think differently. I wouldn't be gossiping if I was a mother at the school & my kids don't read the Fail. I don't see how it puts more limelight on them though.

MotionActivatedDog · 09/07/2021 20:14

Prisons are seriously struggling to properly staff the landings, they sometimes can’t open the cells for more than an hour a day on the gen pop wings never mind the solitary ones! And the lack of staff makes it a very unsafe place for everyone. Prison as a murdering, sex offending, police officer will be no picnic for him.

CityCommuter · 09/07/2021 20:15

It was also reported in the Daily Mail that he was addicted to pornography and had depraved fantasies of rape and murder so he must have admitted this when questioned. The article implied that his addiction to porn caused him to commit this evilness...

You mightn’t gossip but are you telling me you don’t know people who would?

Well we don't have a death penalty, hopefully he will get a full life tariff, I can't imagine life in prison will be anyway a good life and nor should it be.

coulditbecominghome · 09/07/2021 20:17

I think those that would, would do it regardless of the article.

MotionActivatedDog · 09/07/2021 20:18

I mean look at how theunamedcat and her DC are being treated. It’s naive to think people wouldn’t talk about this family.

coulditbecominghome · 09/07/2021 20:18

I didn't say people wouldn't talk. I think they will talk regardless of the article.

MotionActivatedDog · 09/07/2021 20:19

I think those that would, would do it regardless of the article.

The article gives them more fodder.

coulditbecominghome · 09/07/2021 20:19

In your opinion

MotionActivatedDog · 09/07/2021 20:21

Well yes, of course. Confused That’s what we’re all sharing here isn’t it? Our opinions

coulditbecominghome · 09/07/2021 20:27

Of course but some are better than others 😉

coulditbecominghome · 09/07/2021 20:28

Let's just agree to disagree on the article.

MotionActivatedDog · 09/07/2021 20:28
Confused
coulditbecominghome · 09/07/2021 20:29

I can't see him not getting a full life tariff, there would be outrage.

I can’t face reading that yet.

@MotionActivatedDog

Everytime my ex is arrested the harassment against our children and myself picks up we are past victims of him but people still have a like father like son attitude

Sorry to hear that. Do you think speaking to the press would help quell that?

Hell no! but his cases are always mysteriously dropped after 6 months bail and not high profile no deaths as yet

(Mysteriously dropped means after a campaign of harassment by his family and friends so he can say me, 🤷‍♂️ im innocent 😇)

x2boys · 09/07/2021 20:39

I'm sure there is far more to this it's a very unusual case and doesn't make a lot of sense.

inmyslippers · 09/07/2021 20:51

I tried to avoid hearing this and news in general last year, things were sad enough as they was. Watched some footage on the bbc today. Hope he gets a long time and his colleagues who looked the other way face the firing squad

AlternativePerspective · 09/07/2021 20:52

@ MotionActivatedDog if she didn’t go to the press, they would go to her. Are you really naive enough to think that the tabloids wouldn’t hunt her down for a quote? An interview? An opinion?

And if she refused to say anything they would just make it up. The tabloids are notorious for that, and by the time they publish the apology they do it in such a way that it’s buried somewhere towards the back pages and meanwhile they’ve ruined a woman’s life.

And if she didn’t speak to the press then people would just want to know why, and what she had to hide.

It seems she’s damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t, but it’s naive to think the press won’t print stories about her if she refused to speak to them.

If they couldn’t speak to her they would probably go and find her friends, the mothers of her children’s friends, her children’s head teacher. Maybe even go to Ukraine to speak to her family.

MotionActivatedDog · 09/07/2021 21:02

Of course they have, I didn’t claim they haven’t- did I?

RickiTarr · 09/07/2021 21:07

Maybe even go to Ukraine to speak to her family.

That was one of the first things they did. Right at the start. I expect she’s been harassed to death already.

It's extremely frightening to think that people like him who present an imagine of being a devoted family man with a respectable job is actually the complete opposite and is instead a sadistic killer.

How do we know that men like him are 'rare'? The answer is we don't know and it could simply be anyone we interact with who we think we 'know'. The reality is no matter how close you think you are to someone you never 'truly know' anyone's real self or what's in their head or what they're planning or what they're capable of...
