not sure what I think and can't think of a good nn.

OP posts:
Gazelda · 06/07/2021 21:03

I think it sounds too much like 'comedy'.

xprincessxjanetx · 06/07/2021 21:03

I'm not keen. Makes me think of comedy as PP said.

SionnachRua · 06/07/2021 21:03

Noooo. Use Carmen.

Yep, comedy.

Katekarate · 06/07/2021 21:05

Agree with pp too close to 'comedy' sounding

Scarby9 · 06/07/2021 21:05

Carmel
Harmony
Carmen
Not Carmody.

PiccalilliChilli · 06/07/2021 21:05

I think it was a place name on PEI in Anne of Green Gables.

Literarydevice · 06/07/2021 21:06

Yes comedy with an American accent was the first thing that came to mind. What do you think of Carmen, Camille, Camilla, Cameron?

CliffsofMohair · 06/07/2021 21:09

@PiccalilliChilli

I think it was a place name on PEI in Anne of Green Gables.
My first thought
NoraLuka · 06/07/2021 21:11

I was going to say Anne of Green Gables too.

TwigTheWonderKid · 06/07/2021 21:11

Yes, it's a village near Avonlea in Anne of Greengables.

Hen2018 · 06/07/2021 21:11

Sounds like the baddie in a film, known only by his surname.

Or a car body workshop.

Hen2018 · 06/07/2021 21:12

Or a bit like a commode. Commode-ey.

annacondom · 06/07/2021 21:12

I'm not keen. Never heard it before. What's its history/meaning?

DramaAlpaca · 06/07/2021 21:12

It's just another Irish surname that really doesn't translate as a first name for either a boy or a girl.

And yes, it'll get mistaken for comedy.

SprayedWithDettol · 06/07/2021 21:17

I only know it as a surname.

Watercoloursky · 06/07/2021 21:25

I think it would be misheard as Harmony - but Carmen is lovely, if you like that?

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 06/07/2021 21:28

Sounds like an ingredient you'd put in a curry

caughtinanet · 06/07/2021 21:31

I have the baby names topic hidden and when one like this escapes to the wrong board it reminds me why I have it hidden Grin

Foxhasbigsocks · 06/07/2021 21:32

Reminds me of the place in Anne of Green Gables

What about:

Elodie
Melody
Coralie

Instead?

Figgygal · 06/07/2021 21:33

Sounds made up sorry

CormoranStrike · 06/07/2021 21:33

Depends on your accent. In my accent Carmody and Comedy are very different

Twokitstwokats · 06/07/2021 21:58

A bit like Cardy.

SpikeDearheart · 06/07/2021 22:14

Carmody was the student vet who got bitten on the arse by a dog in one of James Herriot's books

kierenthecommunity · 06/07/2021 22:14

It’s sounds like a brand of soap from the 70s
