No , I dont mean things like Live Love Life etc , each to their own but thats really not my thing .

I am in the very long proccess of redecorating , so I am stripping wall paper off .
I all of my old houses there have been little notes under the wall paper 'such and such lives here from x date '
But other than a few decoraters marks and mesurements their is nothing in this house .
So I am going to write somthing like Al moved in to this house on x and did this decorating on , , , today / tomorrows date .

What else can I write ?

What have you found wrote under wall papper ?

Back in the late 90s when me and my mum left our little council house we wrote all over the walls about what twats our next door neighbours were then covered it with wallpaper.

AlCalavicci · 08/07/2021 22:38

This has got me thinking ( a rare thing indeed ) we could all leave little notes all over the place.
In the book you take to the charity shop or library note to say if you liked the book and recommend another one that has the same kind of theme or sane author

In the jeans / jacket pocket you take to the charity shop , while where this I meet my DP / went on this holiday / and the price of the item when it was new
In the car you sells glove box , you favourite trip in the car

Where else could we leave nice notes ?

We've done this is all our houses when decorating. Last year we relayed a floor and wrote the date and something like 'lock down DIY, get lost Covid'. Love the thought of someone finding that in 40 years. Prime minister and what's happening in the news is always a good one.

YesThisIsMe · 08/07/2021 22:46

We found this written on the wall when we tore out our kitchen to replace it.

What should I write on my walls ?
NeverDropYourMoonCup · 08/07/2021 22:54

I wrote the dimensions of the gaps in the kitchen, the size of the windows and doors and things like that in my old flat - it had been an utter bastard to find things that fitted around all the non standard sizes, nooks and crannies of that place, so I hoped that it might be useful for somebody to know they weren't going to be able to get a normal sofa in there and that they needed to buy a 55cm fridge if they want a washing machine as well.

I once found a box in a blocked up fireplace. It was from an opticians with an invoice for contact lenses, dated in the 1960s.

A local builder found this message behind wallpaper (it was my mum's): www.wetherbynews.co.uk/news/mystery-message-1960s-teen-do-you-know-janet-2486020

UnaLength · 09/07/2021 00:45

'It's coming home' was written on the dry screed on the kitchen floor before the Amtico went down when we moved into our new build.

That was three years ago this weekend, Euros were on then too. Didn't come home though, maybe they meant this year? 😂

@AlCalavicci

This thread is fabulous..I'm on a flight so I'll write more later

Sweetpea1532 · 09/07/2021 01:21

Just popped back on to say I love this 'left notes" idea! Such a pleasant surprise for someone!

JordanPickford · 09/07/2021 08:51

DS and his friend had the idea to write notes for people to find. They were going to write silly things but i convinced them to write something more positive, and they agreed how nice it would be to find something random that could brighten someone’s day.

So one of the notes they wrote was
“Whoever finds this is a hero” Grin

Sweetpea1532 · 09/07/2021 17:45

@JordanPickford

How fortunate your DS is to have such a kind parent who is teaching him how to be kind to others...he and his friends will remember what you've taught them and it will have a lasting impact on their lives...it is just as easy to write a kind note as a silly or teasing note. You are raising a caring man, @JordanPickford...I thank you for thatFlowers
Good one you!
And look what you started @AlCalavicci ! This is such a positive thread..thank you for starting itFlowers

@JordanPickford,
Ah thats really nice , I hope they wrote lots of notes and cheered many people up .
Hopefully the recipient of you DS's and pals notes were inspired to write their own and pass the kindness on.

"I just lost The Game"

AlCalavicci · 10/07/2021 01:47

@safariboot, That's the kind of thing they will know right away or be puzzled for ages about it.

I am going to be hanging the mural tomorrow but I intend to leave a bit not stuck down so on Sunday I can write the England - Italy Football score

@Sweetpea1532

I meant to post this link the other day , this is where I got my mural from , it will get your DH drooling there are 1000s of choices .

www.wallsauce.com/?utm_campaign=&utm_term=wallsource&utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=ppc&gclid=CjwKCAjw55-HBhAHEiwARMCszrJpYiyVJae7O2ADQ99zvmAFGxzYNCsw9mdujNFTayzbKf3XtcanyRoC6HEQAvD_BwE

I particularly like ones like them , unfortunately even though you can alter the size they wont fit in the space I want as it needs to have quite a large cut out for the bottom of the stairs.

www.wallsauce.com/wall-murals-wallpaper/light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel

www.wallsauce.com/wall-murals-wallpaper/cave-tunnel

Or go to Upsplash unsplash.com/

They have 1000s of free photos that you can down load and then upload onto the Wallsauce website and they will make it into a mural for you DH
I really liked the colour and lights on this one but not the religious theme so much
