No , I dont mean things like Live Love Life etc , each to their own but thats really not my thing .

I am in the very long proccess of redecorating , so I am stripping wall paper off .
I all of my old houses there have been little notes under the wall paper 'such and such lives here from x date '
But other than a few decoraters marks and mesurements their is nothing in this house .
So I am going to write somthing like Al moved in to this house on x and did this decorating on , , , today / tomorrows date .

What else can I write ?

What have you found wrote under wall papper ?

@AlCalavicci
You know me very well!

But of course put your user name if you write anything about MN...or maybe not! It would be outingGrin
I love the little man walking up the steps idea...and I also love your idea of putting up a mural.
My DH is going to be so jealous...He loves murals!

AlCalavicci · 07/07/2021 21:31

@Sweetpea1532

If I do write anything about MN in chalk and the new occupants look me up they are going to wonder which room was the padded one .

For those of you wondering what me and sweet pea are talking about when you have got plenty of time and want a laugh read this

@AlCalavicci
Thanks for the chalking fun memories....padded room indeed! I've tried to share the chalking thread experience to no avail...everyone just stares at me with a blank look on their face and thinks I'm nuts whilst I laugh my head off😂....maybe , its one of those " you had to be there" moments....it WAS before we were all set free after all..such a strange time.Grin

Sweetpea1532 · 08/07/2021 04:41

@AlCalavicci

Hahahalol! Just went to the chalking thread...I didn't realise the kookyness started by the 5th post .....with 995 more to get to 1000!...no wonder we had so much fun with the craziness😂

Maggie Maggie Maggie, out out out.

Or as you are going to leave something under the carpet maybe a clue to that, "there is a treasure under the carpet - guess which room then write a number. Then when you put something under the carpet refer it back to the wall something like, "you are only welcome to open this if you know the numbers behind the wall paper".

Crossword or quiz clues with the answers on a different wall.

GingerbreadZinc · 08/07/2021 06:47

We just write our names, ages, the date of the decorating and maybe a small message. Eg , our oldest wrote the name of their favourite band, youngest wrote come on football team.

SinkGirl · 08/07/2021 07:02

I recommend reading Diary by Chuck Palahniuk and taking some tips from that - bonus points if you can make one of the rooms disappear 😬

Jessicabrassica · 08/07/2021 07:07

I wrote all over my wall when I was 16 and decorating my room. Song lyrics, quotes, messages from friends. A full on graffiti wall. When I moved out my dad stripped the paper and repainted it. I was gutted.

I did a small family tree of our immediate family under the wallpaper in my parents'home. With their permission of course!!

Weebleweeble · 08/07/2021 08:08

Our old house had the outline of a pair of decorating scissors and 'Jim Smith 1959' under the paper, presumably the painter.

Ratonastick · 08/07/2021 08:23

My Dad found a wall sized drawing of Mickey Mouse when I was a kid which was very exciting for 6 year old me. We wrote our names and when we found it then he very carefully covered it up again.

I’m having my kitchen done soon and will have a funny gap behind the cupboards in one corner. I’m thinking about leaving a plastic skeleton in there for the next people to find.

AlCalavicci · 08/07/2021 22:04

A pint of cider cost about £2.80
A case of 18 cans of strongbow cost £11

Write “The diamonds are in the” and then make it look like the last word has been somehow removed or destroyed or the writer had a conniption before they could finish the sentence.

I do like the idea of a treasure trail , I have done most of my decorating now so wont be stripping anymore wall paper of foe a while but if / when i get round to doing the bedrooms I will lay a trail and draw a map .
It is a shame I dont have a garden ( only a flagged yard ) or I would burry something out there too

I've just popped a note under my brand new bath. It started: you are ripping out my lovely new bathroom!

I've detailed how much it's cost, average house price and average wage, the names of the tradesmen, and our names too. And a bit about the date and COVID-19 etc.

My plumber "John Smith" popped it under the bath for me and asked what it was I said it's a note saying "if you're reading this I've got a leak! Blame John Smith" Grin
