That isn't Covid?? Both my DCs woke up coughing this morning. Took them for PCR tests first thing and are isolating but I'm clinging on to a shred of hope it's just a normal bug. If they have positive results that means 2 entire year groups will have to be sent home, for the final 2 weeks of term. I mean I know there are far worse problems but the poor kids have had such a disrupted year. Covid can do one. Fuck.

2x positive PCRs in my DC's year group confirmed today.

The main bug going round is covid. Sorry

Onehotmess · 02/07/2021 21:13

Loads of bugs going round- try not to worry, you’ll have the results soon x

CharlieChickenson · 02/07/2021 21:14

So many things are flying around ATM. Ds has caught 3 in the past 3 months from nursery. It's been a time of snot, cough and sleepless nights, on repeat. Especially when younger D's catches them a few days later.

Everything else is still there, covid just butts its way to the front of everyone's mind.

Hopefully the tests come back negative and you can just deal with the usual panic of child illness not the unusual.

Camomila · 02/07/2021 21:14

I'm on a toddler thread here and 3 of us had toddlers with chesty coughs at the same time - no covid though! 2 needed antibiotics though.

Good luck.

DisgruntledPelican · 02/07/2021 21:15

Yes, chesty coughs all round here, three negative PCR tests and one negative lateral flow test.

Frazzled2207 · 02/07/2021 21:15

Ah will cross my fingers for you. My 6yo is currently self isolating and it’s totally shit.

Lostmyway86 · 02/07/2021 21:15

Toddler and baby both with colds picked up in the last couple of days. Lots of coughing, sneezing and snot! No covid just a normal summer cold I think

santabetterwashhishands · 02/07/2021 21:16

I had all the symptoms chesty cough, sore throat, sneezing and headache and no covid x

WooYa · 02/07/2021 21:17

I work in a nursery and have had countless kids off this week and last- all with temps/snot/cough but all negative PCRs

LondonUnited · 02/07/2021 21:17

Yes, awful chesty cough bug with high temperature here. Was sure it was Covid but lateral flow and PCR all negative!

BergamotMouse · 02/07/2021 21:19

Yep, 4 PCR tests, each annoyingly a few days apart so lots of individual isolations. All negative!

Imohsotired · 02/07/2021 21:19

It did the rounds in my house over the last few weeks. Started with my toddler picking up a cough at nursery - symptoms were covid like but we all had negative PCR tests.

DearTeddyRobinson · 02/07/2021 21:22

Thanks all. Will keep everything crossed!

Yep, both of mine have had it this week. Really knocked them over bless them, had upset stomach with it too.

Treezan82 · 02/07/2021 21:26

Oh and it wasn't Covid btw! To be honest, when my kids did have Covid (all 4 of us had it) they were absolutely fine, ds had a slightly runny nose and dd's taste when funny for a day or so. This bug they've had this week has made them really poorly. Fever, snot, cough and upset stomach with no appetite.

Treezan82 · 02/07/2021 21:28

There was a news article about it, it's basically winter bugs surfacing now because they were suppressed over winter. Parents being asked to stop taking kids to a&e and treat at home unless symptoms get really bad as a&e is full of kids with these viruses but they just need a bit of calpol and a couple of days in bed.

Happymum12345 · 02/07/2021 21:34

My dd and lots at school off with colds. Pcr tests so far have been negative.

sweetiepie1 · 02/07/2021 21:38

Whole family caught chesty cough off of my toddler all negative so fingers crossed OP

CMSdividend · 02/07/2021 21:39

3 year old in this house is just coming the other side of croup, chesty cough and snotface. Fingers crossed she can sleep a bit better tonight, it's been a rough few days. Nursery are brilliant though, I sent her in, they can see she was a bit off and said she was one of the last to have the bug so it's definitely going round.

DearTeddyRobinson · 02/07/2021 21:39

Ok that is reassuring thanks all. It wouldn't surprise me if it was one of the normal bugs they haven't had this year, it has been a suspiciously healthy term HmmGrin.
I guess I'll find out tomorrow or whenever the results are back. Mostly im upset as we had to cancel our cleaner Shock

DD started with a sore throat and is now snotty with it. Feels fine otherwise, no temperature or headache. Negative LFT and not enough symptoms for PCR. I'm going with summer cold because she barely had a sniffle when we had covid in January.

Northernsoullover · 02/07/2021 21:46

There are plenty of other bugs going round. You did the right thing getting the PCRs. My son had something nasty in the autumn but PCR confirmed not covid.

Dartsplayer · 02/07/2021 21:49

Dd had a headache and snotty cold after school yesterday, none of the 3 main Covid symptoms. LFT done yesterday - negative. Positive test in her year group today. Did LFTagain today - positive. PCR booked for tomorrow. Emailed school to inform them and they said all the kids with headaches and colds are testing positive. So far 5 in her class and 9 in another year group. Good luck OP. Fingers crossed it isn't

derailment · 02/07/2021 21:50

DD (5) had a PCR test this morning. She's a bit ill but not really, a bit achy and moany but other than that fine but she has a horrible cough.

Time will tell if it's COVID. I so hope not though, I'd hate to be the one to send the class home at the end of term!

justasking111 · 02/07/2021 21:50

One nursery child infected three generations with the cough cold bug it's vicious but wasn't covid. Similar in university halls as well last month
