Please tel me there is a bug going round with a chesty cough

That isn't Covid?? Both my DCs woke up coughing this morning. Took them for PCR tests first thing and are isolating but I'm clinging on to a shred of hope it's just a normal bug. If they have positive results that means 2 entire year groups will have to be sent home, for the final 2 weeks of term. I mean I know there are far worse problems but the poor kids have had such a disrupted year. Covid can do one. Fuck.

Negative PCR result this morning. Child just has a normal cough/cold type thing. Back to school Monday, hooray!

I know so many people (adults and children alike) who have had a chesty cold recently. Every single one had a negative covid test so there are definitely other bugs on the go.

DH and in the in-laws all had awful colds last week - all tested negative for COVID. Symptoms were headache, difficulty swallowing, cough and sore throat.

DC (7) school covid bubble burst earlier in the week, so he's at home.
Chesty cough. Snotty nose followed.
Now I have it too...

All negative tests here.

There's without a doubt a flu going around.

Ds2 has had a really rattly cough, like he needs to clear his throat, fir 2 weeks. Negative test for him and several negative rapid flow for me.

We just got a negative for DS. He's barking away here, so either hay fever or a horrible cold.

Horrible cough going around! Spreading like fire said the Doctor today. Son has had to take 2nd round of antibiotics. Picked this all up from nursery
