Man sprawled on front step. WWYD?

I live in a flat and when the takeaway man came over an hour ago he said a man was banging on the front door and vomiting everywhere (Angry)

Looking out I can see the man is still sitting sprawled across our front step. I moved in 4 months ago and have met all neighbours apart from one, a man. So it could well be him. He hasn't buzzed any of the other flats and he's just sitting there. It will get dark soon. I don't know for sure he lives here but seems probable.

WWYD? I don't want to deal with it at all but feel some sympathy

Call 101 right away - he might be having a stroke (vomiting, collapse, incoherent speech are all signs).

Lizzie523 · 02/07/2021 20:57

That passed through my mind as well @Shelddd

I also don't understand why he didn't come in with the takeaway guy if he was so desperate to get inside

He might be drunk, he might be drugged but he might also be having a diabetic attack. Fair enough if you don't want to answer the door but at least ring 101 and ask for a welfare check.

Thesearmsofmine · 02/07/2021 20:58

So he’s already been there about an hour and a half at least? Call the police now and let them deal with it.

Lizzie523 · 02/07/2021 20:58

I heard him talking outside to a random stranger and he sounds wasted to me

Phone the police.

dudsville · 02/07/2021 20:59

If he does lives in your building then you don't want him to get used to ringing your buzzer to be let in.

Yes but you aren't a medical professional and can't tell. Many things can make it seem like someone is drunk.

I'd already have called.

Definitely. Some of the drama being generated on here is crazy!
Claire347 · 02/07/2021 21:01

I would say the same phone the police and ask for a welfare check. You can tell them you want nothing to do with it which I would 100% agree with/recommend but to do nothing is wrong x

captainprincess · 02/07/2021 21:03

What others have said, please call the police. You could save his life if he is unwell.

IrishCharm · 02/07/2021 21:03

I really hope you’ve called the police by now op.
There is a real possibility he could be medically ill - which many people ignore as they assume they’re drunk or on drugs etc.
Whatever his situation let the police deal with it x

Lizzie523 · 02/07/2021 21:04

He changed position so I can see that he is now smoking a vape and does look drunk

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 02/07/2021 21:04

I’d ring an ambulance tbh.

But you don't know for sure. Call the police. If you were worried enough to post, you are obviously concerned.
readytosell · 02/07/2021 21:05

What a world we live in when instead of calling the police for advice they post on mumsnet instead?!

IrishCharm · 02/07/2021 21:05

Seriously?! So ring the police and get him moved!!!!
Lizzie523 · 02/07/2021 21:06

You know what @readytosell I am quite a young woman, live alone and I haven't encountered this situation before, yes I've come on to ask for advice. What difference does it make to you?

OP posts:
grey12 · 02/07/2021 21:07

Don't wait. You could put another neighbour in danger

IrishCharm · 02/07/2021 21:07

At least the police can then check on him and move him or help him - whichever he needs!

LST · 02/07/2021 21:07

Have you rung the bloody police?

RoseRedRoseBlue · 02/07/2021 21:08

You have had plenty of good advice for the last 30 mins. What are you waiting for? Ready is absolutely right.
captainprincess · 02/07/2021 21:10

I would feel the same OP, I wouldn't want to approach him, but I would call the police and heed the advice I had been given, which is why you posted in the first place.

The overwhelming advise on the thread is to call the police. They can come and speak to him and move him on or arrange hospital if he's unwell.
Chamonixshoopshoop · 02/07/2021 21:10

Why would you call an ambulance?! Jesus no wonder the NHS is overwhelmed.
If he’s vaping he’s ok!
It’s Friday night, a lot of people will be drunk by now. They don’t need an ambulance.
