What shite films and genres do you love watching? But would cringe if people knew about.

For me it’s crappy supernatural ones, like Van Helsing, The Brothers Grimm and demonic possession films.
Can’t be doing with rom coms or action films.

OP posts:

Keeping Up With The Kardashians - I actually love it (and I LOVE Kris Jenner) Grin

Susannahmoody · 30/06/2021 02:55

I love those crappy hallmark Xmas films too, they're so bad.

Currently watching some documentary from 2002 on Prime about barbarian invaders. LOVE a crap documentary, especially if it's history, ghosts, true American crime etc

Amortentia · 30/06/2021 02:57

Films- I love action movies. Anything with Tom Cruise will do. I can't stand horror or thrillers and most romcoms make me cringe. Bring on the explosions and special effects.

For TV- I love Miss Marple, murder she Wrote, Rosemary & Thyme, The Golden Girls. It's seems that I love old ladies, maybe because it's more relatable to me. 😂

Susannahmoody · 30/06/2021 02:57

And I am a total sicker for watching the same thing over and over again. I think I've watched a Walk in the Woods 10 times or something.

Susannahmoody · 30/06/2021 02:57
  • sucker not sicker

I often rewatch the same stuff and even do this with audio books too. Apparently it's linked to anxiety, there's comfort in knowing you won't be surprised. I know when I'm super stressed I relisten or rewatch an old favourite.
NiceGerbil · 30/06/2021 03:02

Well I don't think they're shite!

But I love the Japanese Godzilla etc films.

Esp the older ones where Godzilla is essentially a sock puppet with s couple of googly eyes on Grin

NiceGerbil · 30/06/2021 03:06

Weird link sorry

HelenArlidge · 30/06/2021 03:50

Cheesy Christmas films
Channel 5 afternoon films 'the babysitter' 'Secretary seduction' 'the surrogate' etc
The twilight series

Don't tell anyone!

PennineWayinSlingbacks · 30/06/2021 06:34

Love stuff about hoarders.

MissMarplesGoddaughter · 30/06/2021 06:48

Cheesy Christmas films
Miss Marple - but only with Joan Hickson
Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders
Dance Moms

DanceForMeColin · 30/06/2021 06:56

@GreenClock early ANTM was the absolute best, I am very sad that the show has been canned (although the less said about the season hosted by Rita bloody Ora the better)
Britains Next Top Model was total poo in comparison.

Married At First Sight Australia was totally addictive and trashy - I loved it.

I would never admit either of these loves this in real life.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 30/06/2021 07:15

@Comedycook

I love those channel 5 in the afternoon type films...you know, there's usually a killer nanny/surrogate/mistress etc etc
Me to!! They're such a guilty pleasure 😁
knackeredcat · 30/06/2021 09:22

@Temp023 I LOVE Take a Break Fate and Fortune and Chat It's Fate. Real guilty pleasures. Grin

I love cheesy 80s films - the more obviously 80s looking the better. Not just the more obvious ones, there's a cheesy Michael J Fox one called High School USA one I've watched umpteen times. Contains a life size robot made by Willis from Diff'rent Strokes. And Tough Guys featuring Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas as two old cons who aren't quite ready to pack in crime. But my favourite is Stir Crazy starring Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder who get fitted up with armed robbery while on a working road trip in Arizona.

TV - love the Golden Girls, proper vintage episodes of Coronation Street and EastEnders (LOVE the likes of Phyllis Pearce, Hilda Ogden, Lou Beale and Ethel Skinner), also schlocky true crime documentaries.

InTheCludgie · 30/06/2021 11:35

Susannahmoody I recently discovered Bill Brysons books and watched A Walk In The Woods a few months ago. Thought it was fab, I'd definitely rewatch again no problem 😊 ps Robert Redford still has it, but that's for another thread running atm I guess!

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/06/2021 11:37

Cheesy Christmas films.

Thelnebriati · 30/06/2021 11:41

Cheesy detective stuff, like The Professionals, or Danger Man.

Confusedandshaken · 30/06/2021 12:26

I'm not embarrassed about my viewing habits but when it comes to reading I love a really bad, self serving, ghostwritten if necessary, celebrity bio. I read a lot of good stuff too but to relax you can't beat a B list slab banging on about trivia. Esther Rantzen's stands out in my mind as particularly awful.

Strawberriesandcream21 · 30/06/2021 12:34

Op Van Helsing was one of my favourites when young, I really loved it. Watched it recently with DH and I wish I hadn't as it dawned on me how rubbish it is 😂

I love all the Jurassic park films and fast and furious ones but I'm happy to tell people I love them

I dont tell people I love geordie shore

NarcissaMalfoysManicure · 30/06/2021 13:02

I have zero shame Grin and ADORE the eighties/early nineties fantasy films. Labyrinth, Hook, Fairytale: A True Story, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves... pure maudlin rubbish and I love them.

Used to be obsessed with Supersize vs Superskinny too.

nottomgates · 30/06/2021 18:09

Films I’ve loved but other hate include-
Romy and Michelle’s high school reunion
Too Wong Foo thanks for everything Julie Newmar
Being John Malcovich
Drop Dead Fred
😳

Me too. I even record the odd one if I’m out so I can watch it later.
Standrewsschool · 30/06/2021 18:24

Not forgotting the stolen baby films.

Harrykanesrightsock · 30/06/2021 18:30

Doris Day or the Elvis films.
