What are these weird things in my cupboard?

I found loads of these things in my understairs cupboard. They are reddish brown and about the size of sesame seeds. Any ideas what they are?

I have no idea what those are but you're going to need to move house. Or burn it.

prettyvisitor · 25/06/2021 16:54

Cockroach droppings?

UrgentExit · 25/06/2021 16:54

@CloseEncountersOfTheTurdKind they're not mice droppings.

Two questions. Where in the world are you located? and did they come from a cupboard with rice or flour stored in it?

I'd guess at some kind of weevil from one of the above. it is just a guess though.

Poo identification chart! It does say mouse poo gets lighter with age, so could be old mouse poo?

Or maybe it's something less sinister, like seeds?

snotaproblem · 25/06/2021 16:56

Termite droppings maybe

I'm in the south of England, and the cupboard has DIY stuff in it, tools and paint etc. There was a spilled box of wallpaper paste powder as well

Cockroach droppings are like coffee grinds tiny black spots. If anything they like cress seeds but the odds of them being dropped there? Mouse poo is more like rice shaped though

AtlasPine · 25/06/2021 16:58

Are they hard or soft? What happens if you pop one? What do they smell like?

Akire · 25/06/2021 16:58

Oh forget termites, google says we do t have them in the UK

Heelsofsteel · 25/06/2021 16:59

Could it be spilt seed of some sort? Grass or similar? Or can you see legs? 🙈

AtlasPine · 25/06/2021 16:59

They look like they could be a kind of bulgar wheat or red rice. Or something’s eggs.

Heelsofsteel · 25/06/2021 17:00

Ah sorry cross post!

AtlasPine · 25/06/2021 17:00

Good call the cress seeds

justanotherneighinparadise · 25/06/2021 17:00

I think those are eggs not droppings. They’re not mice dropping as those are dark brown and hard. Those look soft. I feel like I’ve seen that before. I’m going to google.

Madickenxx · 25/06/2021 17:00

They look like linseeds! Have you had one of those microwaveable pillows (alternative to hot water bottle) and could it have leaked the seeds?

I'm stumped otherwise. Look to uniform to be droppings.

Viviennemary · 25/06/2021 17:00

Not mice droppings. They look like seeds to me too.

AtlasPine · 25/06/2021 17:00

A mouse could have nibbled a seed packet and spilt them

chickenyhead · 25/06/2021 17:01

I have seen mouse poison and ant grains that look similar. Do they smell?

ClarisseMcClellan · 25/06/2021 17:02

Did you sweep them into a pile or find them like that? Would any kind of droppingsbe in just one place?

CloseEncountersOfTheTurdKind · 25/06/2021 17:02

The cupboard was a complete mess, I guess it could be spilt seeds, although I've not found any seed packets yet. They are quite hard, I don't think they were alive. They do look a lot like the pictures of cress seeds

Perhaps I should plant some and see if they sprout Grin
