What are these weird things in my cupboard?

I found loads of these things in my understairs cupboard. They are reddish brown and about the size of sesame seeds. Any ideas what they are?

I think seeds rather than poo or insects. DIY cupboard could have had a packet of seeds in there that got damp and split, and the seeds got left behind.

Instant coffee?

CloseEncountersOfTheTurdKind · 25/06/2021 17:04

I didn't sweep them, they were in the pile like that

Missed the update. I was going to suggest trying to grow some, but if they've been there forever, they might not sprout, even if they are seeds.

RickiTarr · 25/06/2021 17:06

@CloseEncountersOfTheTurdKind

Perhaps I should plant some and see if they sprout Grin
Cress only needs to go in wet paper so would be a quick experiment. Could go yuck if not seeds, though.
CloseEncountersOfTheTurdKind · 25/06/2021 17:06

I've sprinkled a few on some damp kitchen towel so will see if anything happens!

They are tumbling out the wall though aren’t they?

Bucklestimeshare · 25/06/2021 17:08

I thought cress seeds straight away too.

In that case I'm Team SeedGrin
SallyCinnabon · 25/06/2021 17:16

Spiders eggs.

☺️ Only joking OP. They do look like cress seeds, or seeds of some sort.

If they are spiders eggs though, you know what you have to do. Channel your inner Ripley from Alien and burn burn burn 🤢🤭

If you grow a wee fanged beast, we don’t need a photo, thanks. Wink

Cress will start sprout in few hours worth a go!

Wigglegiggle0520 · 25/06/2021 17:24

@Madickenxx

They look like linseeds! Have you had one of those microwaveable pillows (alternative to hot water bottle) and could it have leaked the seeds?

I'm stumped otherwise. Look to uniform to be droppings.

I agree. They look like linseeds.
SwanShaped · 25/06/2021 17:33

Unlikely to be droppings. Don’t think most animals poo all in a pile like that.

VivianK · 25/06/2021 17:36

They might be flour weevils. Did you have flour in the cupboard.

Google red flour weevils

Silverfish eat wallpaper paste and lay 1mm elliptical eggs in clusters...

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 25/06/2021 17:41

You may have set up a silverfish nursery...

SmallGreenStripes · 25/06/2021 17:45

I think they are fly larvae, maggots turn into them.

A few years ago we had a sack of dog food get wet and rot in a shed, when I discovered it and cleared it away it was hitching with maggots and these brown things that looked a bit like rice. They were starting to hatch into flies.

I’d get rid ASAP

SmallGreenStripes · 25/06/2021 17:46

Sorry, pupa not larvae.

CloseEncountersOfTheTurdKind · 25/06/2021 17:50

They were right by where the wallpaper paste hd spilt, so I did wonder if that could be related

diddl · 25/06/2021 18:04

I was also thinking some stage of a fly!

lancashirelady · 25/06/2021 18:05

If you blow the pic up you can see some of them in the wall. Not sure how seeds would get in the wall.

YouKnowItsTrue · 25/06/2021 18:07

Halim seeds?

TheWatersofMarch · 25/06/2021 18:08

The wallpaper paste is starch so I thing they are insect eggs or pupae, there so there is food when they hatch into grubs. Get rid pronto.

Musmerian · 25/06/2021 18:08

I think they’re definitely old mouse droppings. We had mice in our previous house and the are the same size and shape.
