Thanks 73kitty I haven't got very far with study but I've got between Christmas and new year to devote to it. I'm doing ok with Christmas we've agreed with my family to cut back this year so that's four off the list. I need to finish my dc and my niece and nephew but that's it. I'm going real life shopping on my own Sunday. No idea what to get my niece and nephew I haven't seen them for over a year Blush they also have step siblings who I don't know but I feel I should get them something.

PaperMonster · 24/11/2021 19:19

@BorderlineHappy thank goodness the Rocco tale has a happy ending!

The advent calendar is www.cheesies.co.uk/collections/all/products/cheesies-advent-calendar

The OH sent for it as a surprise but it said on the packaging what it was!! And had I known he was sending for it I wouldn’t have ordered some packets of them!!

@73kittycat73 no, I’ve not bothered with I’m a Celeb! We’ve just watched the Bake Off final tonight, and I’m undecided what to do about Strictly this weekend as my daughter’s away - do I watch it without her? Do we watch it on catch up before the results show?

I think I might have found something for my friend - a Badass Woman toothbrush and a notebook - but I need the ad to pop up on FB again! They’re silly ones!

Hope you’re doing ok @WreckTangled!

73kittycat73 · 24/11/2021 19:35

Hi WreckTangled. Aww, sorry you have to study over the Christmas period. Xmas Sad Mind you, might make it memorable...The one where I studied hard. You can look back when you are all qualified and think, thanks goodness I studied then!
Good some of the pressure of present buying has come off then. I buy for my brothers, nieces , mum, and one of my brothers partners. Not too many. I hope you have a lovely day Sunday. Will the lights have been put up in your town centre by then? I hope it's lovely and festive for you. Xmas Smile Will you be having lunch out? It's nice of you to think of your niece and nephews step siblings. I'm sure they won't be expecting anything so will be pleasantry surprised.
Hi PaperMonster. Smile That calendar looks awesome. Xmas Grin I always say to my mum, I love the idea of cheese, and people (Including her.) seem to really love it and get enjoyment out of it. I wish I did! I don't like cheese. I can't be one of these people that can just take a chuck of cheese on it's own and eat it. I like pizza with cheese on, and cheese on toast, and Philadelphia, and Boursin, but that's it. I wish I liked cheese like everyone else! Xmas Sad Xmas Smile
I'd go for watching Strictly on catch up before the results show. If you're anything like me, the moment you turn on the tv/internet/etc on Monday, it'll say, 'And next we speak to eliminated contestant Joe Bloggs...'
Hope the ad comes up on FB again for you!

Found them!

I wasn’t a big fan of cheese before I started low carbing!

73kittycat73 · 26/11/2021 01:12

Ooh those notebooks made me laugh, thank you! Xmas Grin I particularly like The living room and other places to visit in 2022. lol
Is anybody looking out for anything in particular, tomorrow, Black Friday? I bought a new mobile yesterday from Amazon. Didn't think to wait till Friday as it was already discounted a bit. I hope it doesn't go down any further!
Couldn't get to sleep last night again. Well, actually, I did manage to drop off, but I kept waking up with a start, over and over, so I got up. Had a small nap this morning. Had to stay awake tonight though. Sainsbury's released the last day of their Christmas delivery slots today. I waited till midnight, logged in, then the site kept glitching, ahhh! (I would like to say heavy traffic maybe, but it's been glitching loads for me anyway lately.). Managed to get through to the Christmas slots about three times, then before I could book, the booking form would disappear and I'd have to start again. Then it kept saying it couldn't reserve my slot due to an error. I changed my delivery slot in the end and it finally worked. Phew!

Gosh, I was thinking you were posting late and now I see why! Not got my eye on anything in the sales tbh.

My Cheesies order turned up yesterday so I had a bag - the goats cheese one which is my fave!

I had a shock yesterday when someone from my past contacted me. Someone I’ve thought about off and on over the years with fondness. Freaked me out a bit but also nice to hear from them.

73kittycat73 · 27/11/2021 10:58

Hi. Smile Hope everyone is having a nice weekend? It's cold here, brrr. Have Iceland coming later! Got Christmas foodie bits coming. Xmas Smile
Glad you enjoyed your Cheesies PaperMonster. Xmas Grin
I bet that was a shock, someone from your past popping up like that. There is someone from my past I in one way dread thinking of hearing from, and in another way, I hope they do. Just to see how they are now, and what drove them to the circumstances of our last meeting. Not now though, not before Christmas!

BorderlineHappy · 27/11/2021 14:11

Watched the Toy Show last night.
It was good fun.
I only said to do I bet Ed Sheeran pops up and who pops up,but Ed Sheeran 😂.

In Tesco carpark the other day, found a handbag in a trolley.
So I brought it to customer services.

I got a lovely phonecall from the woman involved thanking me.
She asked me my address and turned up this morning with a lovely card with some money in it.

So nice of her.

73kittycat73 · 27/11/2021 19:58

Woo, can you tell me the winning National Lottery numbers too? Xmas Grin (Or is it just that Ed Sheeran pops up on everything anyway?)
Well done on your good deed. Glad to see it payed off too. Star
How's Rocco this evening? Hasn't tried to get out again yet I imagine?
I'm off to watch Channel 5 in a minute, Christmas At Hampton court is on. I'm a sucker for anything Christmas! Xmas Grin (Apart from those awful romance films they put on Great!Christmas.)

PaperMonster · 27/11/2021 21:37

@73kittycat73 yes it was a shock. Lovely to chat again. Never met him but he helped me through quite a rough time.

@BorderlineHappy that is so lovely!

Have any of you had snow? We had a sprinkling here this morning. Lots of trees down on the roads too.

73kittycat73 · 27/11/2021 23:13

Hi PaperMonster. Xmas Smile It sounds like it was nice to catch up then. How did they find you? Facebook or something like that?
Haven't had any snow, but lots of wind, and a rainbow! Xmas Smile I really, really wish it would snow over Christmas. I'm almost 48 and have only known one white Christmas. Sorry to hear about all the trees dowbn. You are all safe and well though? No damage top property?
I hope you enjoy your shopping trip tomorrow WreckTangled. I hope it's really festive for you and you get what you want. Xmas Smile
No nieces round for me this week. Plans for tomorrow are blitz the downstairs hall as it has become a bit untidy. BorderlineHappy and PaperMonster, have you got any plans tomorrow, or just having a chilled out day?

WreckTangled · 28/11/2021 07:53

Thank you! I'm hoping it's Christmassy. It's bitterly cold here. I've got a list of things I need to get, hoping I can get it all within budget. It was ds' 9th birthday Friday so we've been busy!

BorderlineHappy · 28/11/2021 08:32

No snow but it's freezing here.
I've started Christmas shopping for the kids.
I've bought clothes.
But the youngest want to go to a shop and have a look.
So awkward 😂
Rocco is still mad.
Sits on the fishtank ,watches the telly.
And tries to catch the ball while the football is on.

I feel like he's my toddler the way I tAll so much about him😂

PaperMonster · 28/11/2021 12:55

@73kittycat73 he found me on here. (Old username)

Thick snow here ladies. Electricity’s been off but now back on. We’ve a 20 mile round trip to collect daughter this afternoon!

73kittycat73 · 29/11/2021 20:09

Hi everyone. Sorry I wasn't on yesterday. Had terrible insomnia again the night before and was determined to stay awake in the day yesterday. I was battling so hard! Did it in the end and got a good sleep last night because of it. Xmas Smile
Won't bore you all with the details but p*ssed off with my family today. Fed up of having to take the mental load. I know I sound really spoilt when saying this, but it's just one in a long line of things. It's my Bday Wednesday and my present has been left downstairs for me to bring up and build. Not wrapped or anything. They've had over a week to sort something else out and just haven't bothered. I know, I know I sound spoilt. I also know my brother will be chucking a wobbly on Saturday over something he's had months to sort. Now it's on my mums shoulders and she's trying to pass the buck to me! Grrr...Sorry about that! Back to normal service...#
How did the shopping go WreckTangled? I hope you got everything on your list?
Aww, Rocco sounds so cute! I used to have a cat that would try and bat the screen when I played a certain game with lots of balls going in all directions. I hope he's OK on top of the fish tank! Xmas Grin What does he like watching?
How did the trip go PaperMonster? Well I hope. Hope you electric stays on now! No snow here still...
Just listening to my MP3 player...Non Stop Christmas Disco. Xmas Grin Bought it by mistake years ago (Thought I'd picked up another CD and didn't notice till I got home.) and was horrified when I played it, lol. I kept playing it to everyone to listen to how bad it was, then I started liking it..lol It's so bad it's good! Xmas Grin

Aaaaaw, sorry you’re feeling peed off @73kittycat73. Is it your chair you’re having to put together? No wonder you like Christmas so much with a December birthday! It’s like a month of celebrating for you!

We’ve fared better than neighbouring villages this weekend - they’ve had three days without electricity and some without water. We had a bit of a slippy trip to collect daughter from her weekend away! But we made it there and back in one piece!

73kittycat73 · 29/11/2021 20:47

Yeah it was the chair. Sad I hope I don't sound spoilt. It's just if I don't arrange it round here, it doesn't happen. I just got a bit fed up with running around everyone and not even getting back for one day.
Ouch for your neighbours! So glad your trip went well! Is the snow still laid where you are? It's nice to look at if you don't have to go anywhere!
No IMAC again tonight because of the weather. I've been watching Outlaws (It sounds like I'm always in front of the tv! lol), it's the last one tonight. Have you been watching?

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 29/11/2021 20:55

That is annoying 73kitty I would feel the same. It's just a half arsed job rather than a gift. I did get everything thank you, I'm all done now! Just need some wrapping paper and to do the wrapping. Also we need to all avoid Covid as we're meant to be going to Edinburgh in three weeks 😬

73kittycat73 · 30/11/2021 00:10

Thanks WreckTangled, I really appreciate it.
Glad you got all you wanted. You didn't get blown away then, thank goodness!
Have you got a particular wrapping paper in mind, or do you not mind which one? I've gone all coordinated this year. Oh ee, get me! lol Xmas Grin I know some people like to have Santa paper, or coordinating paper, or all a certain style for one person, another style for another person, etc.
I've got all but a couple wrapped now (A few late additions.). There was a thread in the Christmas section a while ago about whether you leave the wrapping till Christmas Eve, and if so, why?! lol
Does Edinburgh have a Christmas market? It rings a bell...I hope you have lots of fun and in the meantime, wish you and yours lots of good health! (And to you too PaperMonster, and BorderlineHappy Xmas Smile )

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 30/11/2021 05:17

I use cheap paper for stockings, a separate one for each dc so I don't get them muddled up and then I'll just find one I like for others. I've not bought for many people this year as we decided to cut back.

Yes it has a market. I've also booked the lights at the zoo and will book the castle and I've booked afternoon tea at the dome. If you Google the dome at Christmas in Edinburgh you'll see how amazing it looks!

BorderlineHappy · 30/11/2021 12:52

@73kittycat73 you don't sound spoiled,my son has a Dec birthday so I feel your pain.

Can you not just ask them to build it for you.
Or come their birthday I'd be getting them something from IKEA😂

Oh fancy scmancy with the wrapping paper😂
I used to do that when mine where younger, made it so much easier.

@WreckTangled that sounds amazing.
Next week we're bringing the kids on the Luas, down Grafton Street to see the lights.
In to town some food and some Xmas shopping.

Rocco has now been found on our shed,he uses the wooden pole as leverage and away he goes

73kittycat73 · 30/11/2021 19:19

Sounds like a lovely break WreckTangled. Xmas Smile Just off to Google the dome at Christmas in Edinburgh...My first response was, 'Oh wow!' That looks amazing! I hope you have a lovely time. Are you looking for anything in particular in the market, or just going for a browse? Have you been at Christmas time before?
Hi BorderlineHappy. Xmas Smile Oh fancy scmancy with the wrapping paper Lol! You know, I can't remember what it was I was watching now but the other day I saw a proper red, green and gold decorated room, tinsel everywhere. I decided then and there that next year I'm going back to those colours, and more tinsel! Xmas Grin
I hope you enjoy seeing the lights with your family, and have fun Christmas shopping. I hope it's really festive for you too. Xmas Smile
It's only my mum here, my brother lives about 15 mins drive away so can't get help with the chair until the weekend. I was thinking about it all last night and I realised why I was so upset. Sorry to bring the thread down, but when I was growing up I was mentally and physically abused by my mum and stepdad. My Bdays weren't made a fuss of. I remember one year, I was under 7 years old and I woke up on my Bday excited and ran in to see my mum in her bedroom. She hadn't even got me a card, just said 'Oh yeah.' Went over to a friend of hers flat and bought this hideous flamenco lady figurine off her for a fiver and gave it to me. When I started to say I wasn't so keen, I was warned in no uncertain terms, not to be 'ungrateful.' Yesterdays lack off effort took me right back to being that little girl. Really upset me. It was horrible.
Anyway, enough of that, I don't want to bring everyone down! Feel free not to comment on it, I understand.
Hope you are OK and have electric PaperMonster!

@73kittycat73 ah I'm sorry that you went through that with your mum and stepdad 💐.
It's awful when memories resurface.
