For me it's that woman in the vest top who spits her coffee out all over twitter

OP posts:

Joey Bettany from the Chalet School books. I'd rather eat my own feet than suffer her patronizing 'my lamb' and 'my dear girl.'

BIoodyStupidJohnson · 22/06/2021 12:23

Xander from Buffy. Best friend my arse. Stalker with dreadful posture, more like.

Otis from Sex Education. Tiny little softboy future-faker in training. (I won't deny that the actor who plays him is terrific, mind.)

Increasingly, Hughie in The Boys. Which is a shame because otherwise I love The Boys.

Max in the St Mary's books. Too glib.

Any 'removes spectacles, suddenly beautiful' heroines. Yawn.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/06/2021 12:33

Brooke and Peyton in One Tree Hill

both annoying as hell, but the show was good

Hestyo · 22/06/2021 12:38

Rory Gilmore in the later seasons, with her baby voice and her entitlement.

All the characters in Conversations with Friends.

Groomy teacher in My Dark Vanessa.

Agree with whoever said Casaubon in Middlemarch. Horrible man.

Mellors in Lady Chatterley's Lover, and his tedious sermonising.

The father in North and South. Uprooting his wife and daughter for no good reason.

All the characters in Conversations with Friends

I didn’t finish the book, they were all annoying!

MrsBirkett · 22/06/2021 12:41

@Sparklingbrook Yes! Such annoying characters, I haven't read the book but I gave up on the TV series. I couldn't believe how boring it was after all the hype.

peachescariad · 22/06/2021 12:48

All the characters from The Simpsons, South Park, Bob's Burgers etc.....basically all the adult cartoon genre.
All the Friends characters
First place has to go to Carrie Bradshaw

MissTrip82 · 22/06/2021 12:48

Ashley Wilkes

Vronsky

Agree re Kay Scarpetta’s niece

Sheerheight · 22/06/2021 12:52

Robin in the Strike books

Winederlust · 22/06/2021 12:53

Can't believe nobody has mentioned Mrs Brown yet. The most un-funny thing ever to be on TV (apart from Big Bang Theory).

MackemLass79 · 22/06/2021 12:54

Prince charming from once upon a time haha he was so useless and quite frankly would have been dead many times over if he wasn't rescued. Note to self never encourage daughters to find their Prince charming 🤣🤣🤣😂😂

Kiki275 · 22/06/2021 13:01

Any character described as "spirited"... generally translates as spoilt brat x

Hestyo · 22/06/2021 13:03

Also, Homer Simpson. Just awful.

Ginny Weasley with her "I'm so tough and feisty because I've got six older brothers" shtick is grating in the final books.

Gilbert Blythe, which I know is probably controversial. He makes such a strong start but by the second book, he's just boring. As a husband, he's probably decent, but as a character he's very dreary and worthy compared to, say, Cornelia Bryant or Marilla or Rachel Lynde.

SuburbanCrofter · 22/06/2021 13:24

I am just rewatching this, and he is AWFUL. The things he doe to Eric and Ola - abandoning Eric on his 17th birthday so he gets beaten up, and announcing to the whole school that he didn't fancy Ola because he was in love with Maeve - those are the things that Eric and Ola would remember their whole lives, and probably end up talking about in therapy.

cariadlet · 22/06/2021 13:24

Holden Caulfield
Spoiled, whining self-obsessed little rich kid. Maybe I was too old when I read it for the first time.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/06/2021 13:26

the character of President Kirkman was ok in Designated Survivor, but every time he said "the American people" I wanted to throw a shoe at the tv.
it was so annoying

MrsTophamHat · 22/06/2021 13:35

Mr Micawber

I've just read that for the first time. I actually thought he was basically decent, underneath all the self-obsession. My feeling was that quite soon, he'd grow up and be OK!

MsIreneWinters · 22/06/2021 13:43

Dex and Emma in One Day.
Tedious and unlikeable.

zukiecat · 22/06/2021 13:52

Jo March
Willy Wonka (1971 film version)

GrumpyTerrier · 22/06/2021 14:05

Everyone in 'Everyone Loves Raymond'. It is such a toxic show. Raymond a man-child who puts all the work and responsibility on your wife and sees her as a chore/nag. His brother clearly feels and is less loved by the horrible parents. The mother belittles the wife and interferes constantly, and the dad is an absent curmudgeon who does nothing worthwhile. God I hate that show.

PinusSylvestris · 22/06/2021 14:41

Oh I like the brother in Everyone Loves Raymond. I think I identify with him!😄

OlivesTree · 22/06/2021 14:43

Anyone played by Emma Watson.

Twinstudy · 22/06/2021 14:51

Lorelei and rory Gilmore. Both so self absorbed, think the world revolves around them and couldn't give a shit about anyone else.

Also can't stand Carrie Bradshaw. Mostly for the same reasons

MsIreneWinters · 22/06/2021 16:04

Stephanie Plum. I quite like the books but she is irritating.
