@Arbadcarba I'm going to have to go back and reread the book as well. As a child, I never picked up on Cousin Helen's ex.

I always preferred Katy before her accident; she was much more fun. By the time she got to school in the 2nd book, she'd turned into too much of a clone of Cousin Helen.

Amy March until Florence Pugh made her into such a funny character in the latest Little Women film - I thought she stole the show!

Yes! I hated Amy March so much, I usually skim read her chapters on a re-read and STILL can't believe that she married Laurie! One of the great literary travesties.

BUT the Greta Gerwig version was the first one that has ever made sense of it for me.

Yes it’s strange as NM sees her as adorable. One of NM’s correspondents (or maybe a reviewer) described Northey as an ‘arch shit’.

The bit about Cousin Helen's ex comes in her first visit to the Carrs. Katy sits by while Dr Carr and Helen chat about Alex and his family, and afterwards asks who they are and Dr Carr explains the story.

In Austenland Frank Churchill. So irritating all the way through.

Amy March was quite an unflattering portrayal in the book. The real life sister she was based on sounds really interesting.

I was young and taken in by the glib lines!

I didn't watch the repeats! Or beyond the first few series come to think of it.

I'm currently rewatching Sex and the City (the series, not the abominable films) and Carrie Bradshaw really is the most self obsessed, whiny narcissistic idiot. And she ^skips^ far too much.

Aiden is also an annoying dick. As is Steve.

I like Harry though.
