Black tie wedding in November. I want something I can potentially wear again but is also formal as it’s at a v snazzy London hotel! Thanks :) I would wear a high heel not a wedge sandal like the model!

It’s lovely, but some would say it’s not the done thing to wear black to a wedding.

UpSlyDown · 21/06/2021 21:24

I know that’s my worry and that it could look dowdy. I’m only 33 and will be dolled up though!

I went to a black tie wedding and more than half the females were in black! It's a lovely dress

Lovely! Definitely acceptable for a wedding.

FuckyouCovid21 · 21/06/2021 21:25

Perfect for a black tie winter wedding

Beetle76 · 21/06/2021 21:26

I think the style and colour is fine for a black tie wedding but have you seen/felt the fabric? It may not be dressy enough?

Ruthietuthie · 21/06/2021 21:26

Lovely shape, but is it really made of wet-suit material? I would worry you would be sweaty (or rather, I know if I wore it, I would be uncomfortably sweaty).
Perhaps order it and see how it feels. But it is a lovely dress and appropriate.

Penny31 · 21/06/2021 21:26

Could you have cream or coloured accessories? A fascinator? Then I think it will be lovely, go for it!

Maireas · 21/06/2021 21:28

I personally wouldn't wear black to a wedding, but I know things have changed and it's acceptable. I think it's a nice dress with a good shape. Don't wear high heeled court shoes or any kind of stilleto, though, it would look odd. Find something interesting with a block heel or a wedge.

TooTiredForToday · 21/06/2021 21:28

Scuba material? Shock

I don't like the way it gives the model side boob on show, but it's ok and might be nicer on someone it fits better. I can see that it might suit a posh London hotel wedding.

Toebean · 21/06/2021 21:29

Nope

Maireas · 21/06/2021 21:29

Actually, pp make good points about the fabric, it may not be comfortable.

Comedycook · 21/06/2021 21:29

I'd say a cautious yes If you glam it up with some accessories. Id go for gold high heeled sandals, a glam clutch bag, nice jewellery

peboh · 21/06/2021 21:29

I think that's lovely, and I've worn black to several weddings. I've always spoken to the bride first though, just to make sure they'd be happy with me wearing that colour.

BikeRunSki · 21/06/2021 21:30

I love that dress (I’m 50 though, that might put you off). Could you maybe wear a wide, coloured cummerbund type belt/sash to brighten up the unbroken blackness?

What the hell is happening in her sandal

Scuba fabric is like thick Jersey I believe, wet suits are made of neoprene. I think its nice, but would dress it up with a strong jewel toned accessories, so Ruby, emerald or a strong purple maybe?

BikeRunSki · 21/06/2021 21:34

I don’t think it’s actuality made of neoprene! “Scuba” means a smooth faced ponte type fabric doesn’t it?

Watto1 · 21/06/2021 21:35

And what on earth does she have under her arm in picture 4?

crumble82 · 21/06/2021 21:35

I once accidentally bought a dress in that fabric and it was the most unflattering thing ever. It didn’t sit nicely and it made me look 10 stone heavier (I’m 5ft 4 and a size 10 for reference). If you’re model-esque it will probably look lovely but if not I would suggest having a back up option.

Clymene · 21/06/2021 21:35

What the hell is happening in her sandal
Wow. That is a Big toe
Maireas · 21/06/2021 21:37

I love the sandals in the second pic with the little heel. A bit more stylish!

Bluntness100 · 21/06/2021 21:40

Unless this is a black tie wedding I’d say no, there’s something bad luck about wearing black to a wedding.

UpSlyDown · 21/06/2021 21:40

I know the shoes the model are wearing put me off a bit makes it look dowdy! Interesting @crumble82 I think I’m similar proportions to you I wonder if it would make me look huge!

UpSlyDown · 21/06/2021 21:40

@Bluntness100 it is a black tie wedding!
