Black tie wedding in November. I want something I can potentially wear again but is also formal as it’s at a v snazzy London hotel! Thanks :) I would wear a high heel not a wedge sandal like the model!

I love the shape of that dress. A friend bought it recently and says it’s very flattering.

OhWhyNot · 21/06/2021 21:43

I’ve worn black to a wedding

I love the style of the dress but I’m not sure if it’s the material or the cut it looks bulky. I think you would get a similar dress in Coast that will be cut better from a material that hangs nicely

And as for the granny shoes Confused

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 21/06/2021 21:44

Um, it's definitely not for me. It's kind of a weirdly unflattering mix of dowdy in shape & length, but also really low cut, if that makes sense? There again, I'm one of those weirdo MNers who thinks you should never wear black or white to a wedding, so...

I think the shape of the top is lovely, but the bottom half looks odd, somehow. But I don't think they've presented it very well on the website. It might look a lot more drapey/flowing in real life.

I assume it’s going to be inside, might be a bit cold for November? Love it though. Could team with royal blue, red, deep purple accessories.

ScrollingLeaves · 21/06/2021 21:46

Lovely, but add some colour with accesories.

ButItRingsAndIRise · 21/06/2021 21:46

Side boob to a wedding is a bit of a no no I think.

supersuds · 21/06/2021 21:46

Yes I would say to that colour and cut, but order it and try the fabric. I have a couple of coats and trousers in that fabric and LOVE it, but I am not sure I would feel smart enough in it for a black tie wedding.

ScrollingLeaves · 21/06/2021 22:03

Sorry, I had not seen the side view before. Now I think the cut of the dress isn’t quite right.

diddl · 21/06/2021 22:03

Looks very casual I think.

BackforGood · 21/06/2021 22:04

Not for me

emmathedilemma · 21/06/2021 22:13

If you’re only 5ft 4 I think it will swamp you. It says the model is 175cm which about 5ft 9 and it’s long on her with a lot of fabric in the skirt. I think by autumn there will be plenty of nicer evening dresses around to choose from, particularly if Xmas party season is anything like back to normal.

Demortuisnilnisibonum · 21/06/2021 22:16

I like it. Would wear with a bright mule - bright pink or emerald green.

RampantIvy · 21/06/2021 22:16

It's a no from me. It's going to be rather chilly for a November wedding. You will want something to cover up, and I can't think of anything that will keep you warm that would look nice with this dress.

I also think it looks rather casual. Sorry.

iminthegarden · 21/06/2021 22:23

You could add a gorgeous red heel and lip, would be stunning!

moose62 · 21/06/2021 22:25

I saw someone try that dress on in Cos, it looked stunning and far dressier than in the picture. I even loved the material. It made it stand out slightly at the bottom and looked unusual. You can add accessories.

Mummy7777 · 21/06/2021 22:26

No sorry, there's so many other dresses on the market. You're younger than me and I wouldn't wear that to a wedding. I might wear it on holiday but that's it.

HandforthParishCouncilClerk · 21/06/2021 22:27

I think for a November wedding you’ll be bloody freezing and should go for something that has a sleeve, and can be worn with tights tbh

Womendohavevaginasnick · 21/06/2021 22:33

Regardless of the colour I think it's awful, sorry.
I can't see how that shape would be flattering on anyone.
I think the waist is too low and the dress too long for the shape of it. It looks as though it should cut just above the knee.
That's just me though.
If you like it try it.
Personally I like coast, little mistress or ted baker for occasion dresses, it's been a while though!

Isababybel · 21/06/2021 22:35

No, definitely not.

Womendohavevaginasnick · 21/06/2021 22:35

Mind on a second look maybe it's just too big for her? Maybe that's why it looks like it sags round the waist

fallfallfall · 21/06/2021 22:36

i don't like the neckline (a bit low loose fabric will need to secure that), sleeveless even more so for a november wedding. then there is the whole what is it made of problem, on top of it being black (to a non black tie event).
it's a no from me.

Letsgetreadytocrumble · 21/06/2021 22:37

@PartyNeeded

What the hell is happening in her sandal
Oh my god! Shock
LobotomisedIceSkatingFan · 21/06/2021 22:40

I love that.

finished31 · 21/06/2021 22:42

I love the dress OP. Very classic.

The green one is also nice for another occasion and reasonable too.

I think it's beautiful, I'd wear it.
