Do you know of anyone who had a separate life away from their family?
Background: DW and a friend reminiscing about a friend who recently died.
Let me call her Diana was from a County family, genuine public Service obligations. Lovely family. Diana was widowed in her late 20s with children. Did not remarry, concentrated on her children and working in family business, from part time 'odd jobs' to becoming active accountant and director. My knowledge of this part of her life is limited. DW knew her from school. Malvern.

Some years ago after a successful business meeting 150 miles away I was taken to a restaurant, the host suggested we join another group. They were a mixed group, a bit boisterous. Among them was a flashy type of bloke and his gf, she was dressed a bit showy. She was introduced as 'Trixie'.
Flashman and she were the life and soul of the party.

We did not say that we knew each other and I told no one. I have still not told my wife, I have to admit she is a bit of a gossip.
Diana's usual style was twinset and pearls, Liberty Scarves, everything tailored.
I started writing this to ask if you or any of your friends had a separate life like the above. I was going on to ask about second set of clothes and venues away from the usual humdrum. It has got a bit serious perhaps cathartic, me talking about a friend we have lost. I will leave it stand and see if you comment.

MandoInABar · 18/06/2021 17:49

ladymuck111 · 18/06/2021 17:51

medebourne · 18/06/2021 17:51

Sharon?

Tashkentmoon · 18/06/2021 17:52

What ?

medebourne · 18/06/2021 17:53

Perhaps a Jilly Cooper plot translated into Polish and then back again into English by a non native speaker?

roobicoobi · 18/06/2021 17:54

Nope

couchparsnip · 18/06/2021 17:55

You've missed a bit. Are Trixie and Diana the person?
Are you sure it wasn't just someone that looked like Diana?

MiddleClassProblem · 18/06/2021 17:56

🤣🤣🤣

couchparsnip · 18/06/2021 17:56

*the 'same' person . FFS Now I'm doing it.

iklboo · 18/06/2021 17:57

Diana was 'Trixie' whose character was the complete opposite of Diana. Several scenarios:

They're actually twins
Diana worked as an escort called Trixie
Diana had an alter ego called Trixie who was allowed to have fun
They were two separate people who looked a bit alike after seven pints and you squinted a bit.

SleepingStandingUp · 18/06/2021 17:58

Yes Diana was Trixie. He saw the woman "Trixie" which he knew was Diana but he didn't blow her cover and never told anyone Inc his wife as his wife is a terrible gossip

MiddleClassProblem · 18/06/2021 18:02

I’ve never been to a restaurant in a group and then have it suggested we join another group by the wait staff upon entry.

medebourne · 18/06/2021 18:03

Was she t-rexing?

Bluntness100 · 18/06/2021 18:04

What? I read that twice and it makes no sense at all.

AnoymousCoward · 18/06/2021 18:05

Bli.ey, it's all a bit Sharon, isn't it?
Or GabbyLoggon

whatsmybabysname · 18/06/2021 18:05

Flashman 🤣🤣

GreenCrayon · 18/06/2021 18:06

@Bluntness100

What? I read that twice and it makes no sense at all.
Thank goodness others are as baffled. I've read it through 3 times and I'm still sat here scratching my head.
MistySkiesAfterRain · 18/06/2021 18:09

Is this not more that you wish you'd reached out to her back then and the chance has passed?

EnfieldRes · 18/06/2021 18:09

Why would it be a secret or a problem that she was out somewhere else, with a man, maybe having fun. I don't get it

medebourne · 18/06/2021 18:09

Gabbyloggon! Ooh that makes me nostalgic. But it's a little too lucid for Gabby. Mitmoo gone posh?

AnoymousCoward · 18/06/2021 18:09

C'mon @Bluntness100!
When we were children, you were named Jo, and we'd get Fanta from the corner shop after school on Friday, then fish and chips...now you're Josephine, and it's canapés and champagne, whilst wearing Joseph and going to gallery openings.
You didn't acknowledge me when we met at the Tate, and said "Oh, it's Claire, is it, nice to meet you" Sad

Bluntness100 · 18/06/2021 18:12

Ha ! @AnoymousCoward..love that.

@GreenCrayon..it’s just so oddly written..😂

VaguelyInteresting · 18/06/2021 18:12

😱 @AnonymousCoward

HonestlyFuckThis · 18/06/2021 18:14

Is Diana Trixie? Are you saying she faked her death…?
