What time is dinner (or tea, whichever you prefer) time?

Visiting a relative today, and she was making dinner for her children (and herself) at 3.30pm.

Just made me wonder what time you have dinner in your house? Just curiosity really.

I usually make dinner around 7pm but then again I have no kids myself.

Usually about six o clock for us.

Doublechins · 16/06/2021 21:56

About 5

GreenTeaBlackCoffeeAndRedWine · 16/06/2021 21:56

@ScarlettDarling

Usually about six o clock for us.
This was about normal for us when we were kids, my parents would make dinner for the whole family at about 6pm. I prefer eating later nowadays

With kids (young) - 5.30 currently. My preference 6.30-7ish

DarcyLewis · 16/06/2021 21:58

6-6.30 for whole family.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 16/06/2021 21:59

7.30 after the kids have done to bed, typically. I'm not hungry at 5 when the kids are.

Tibtab · 16/06/2021 22:00

5.30-6 if eating with DD (15 months) otherwise 7pm if just me and DH

FinallyFluid · 16/06/2021 22:00

7.00 -7.30

Based on when DH used to work in the city, now he works in the front room we still eat at this time.

YorkieTheRabbit · 16/06/2021 22:00

Somewhere around 8 8.30, no kids

UberMullet · 16/06/2021 22:04

7.30 to 8. I'm starving later if I eat earlier. I guess that's why we used to have supper.

partyatthepalace · 16/06/2021 22:04

7.30 or 8

Or 9/ 9.30 if it’s all going to shit.

Teen step kids - 7.30/8 when they are here

EversoDelighted · 16/06/2021 22:05

Any time between about 6 and 8.30, depending on who's out and when (teen DCs). If we're all home for the evening it tends to be about 7.30.

GreenTeaBlackCoffeeAndRedWine · 16/06/2021 22:05

@UberMullet that's like me, if I eat at 5pm I'm snacking all evening. If I ate at 3.30pm every day I'd need a second dinner at about 10 haha.

Around 7 now, but 5.30ish when the kids were little

TheDogsMother · 16/06/2021 22:08

No kids so 8.30 - 9.

LadyCatStark · 16/06/2021 22:09

I like to eat as 6:30 as a family but if DH is late home from work it can be 7 or later. 3:30 is ridiculously early!

AlwaysLatte · 16/06/2021 22:10

We've always had our evening meal all together between 6-6.30.

dudsville · 16/06/2021 22:10

I prefer two meals a day, and much prefer a late breakfast at around 10.30 and a late lunch at around 2 or 3. My ideal world would stop there and just have something like cheese and biscuits or fruit in the evening.

FizzyPink · 16/06/2021 22:11

7/7.30pm for me
DPs goes in the microwave and he eats it whenever he gets home so between 8 and 10

BrownEyedGirl80 · 16/06/2021 22:11

Around 5.30/6pm

Verbena87 · 16/06/2021 22:11

5:30-6. Used to be later before we had a child but we’ve both found we like eating earlier.

GreenTeaBlackCoffeeAndRedWine · 16/06/2021 22:12

@dudsville that makes me wonder if the relative I mention is like that as well. She does get up at around 5-6am though so she might just be on an earlier schedule

OP posts:
DumpyDonkey · 16/06/2021 22:15

Anytime between 4pm - 8pm.

SnoozyBoozy · 16/06/2021 22:15

Pre kids between 7-8, but since having kids, we aim for 6. I've never understood why people feed their children their evening meal at 3.30.or 4, it seems so early (and mine would be badgering me for food all evening)

motogogo · 16/06/2021 22:15

6.30 ish
