Wallah! It's the first time I've seen voilà written this way. But when I think about it, it seems like a really obvious thing to do so I wonder how common it is.
Is it a "thing" that I've just missed before now?

Whyhello · 16/06/2021 13:20

Saw a comment from another parent on class dojo yesterday that said ‘I can ensure you’. Died inside.

helpmewiththispleez · 16/06/2021 13:23

My DH labelled the leftovers Spaghetti Bowl last night. He also writes keysh for Quiche. He has a well paid professional job, shows the standard of Comp education. To be fair I learned it's could've not could of from mum's net Blusham I'm 39.

finallymightbehappening · 16/06/2021 13:29

There is a woman on my local selling site that always writes wiv instead of with. I want to stab her in the eye.

LittleDidSheKnow · 16/06/2021 14:07

I got an email from my DDs teacher saying that she refuses to "except help" from her TA!

@roobicoobi

In my accent drawer / draw is pronounced exactly the same .

It's not written the same though, which is the point.

This was my comment and I am well aware of that. My comment was in response to other posters' feeling that the spelling should be clear to everyone because they were pronounced very differently . Just saying in my accent they aren't .......

@Benjispruce3

A colleague used to say ‘As dead as a dormouse.’
I know I'm late, and that someone might have already responded, but that's a real old saying.

One of many, many variations on the theme.

This is a lighthearted thread. I don't care for the comment that denigrates every school that isn't selective. Absolute nonsense that comprehensive education leads to poor understanding. In Scotland we have true comprehensives and no grammar system for decades. I attended one, I work in one and my DS has just been named the Dux in his one. Hate that snobbery.
BIWI · 16/06/2021 15:24

I agree @Puffalicious

ILoveShula · 16/06/2021 16:50

My local Freecycle site has this gem:
Pedalling pool in good condition and hardly used on offer. Kids have grown big for it now.

ILoveShula · 16/06/2021 16:51

Cyclist often get accused of peddling.

Puffalicious · 16/06/2021 17:01

Thanks BIWI it really rips ma knittin' (as we say up here. We also teach Scots, and you don't want to start with the spelling of that!).

Davros · 16/06/2021 18:07

Da fuq's the Dux?

Puffalicious · 16/06/2021 18:15

@Davros

Da fuq's the Dux?
The Dux (Latin for leader) is the highest ranking academic student in the school. It's a very prestigious award here in Scotland. Do you not have this in the rest of the UK? There's also Proximi Asseccit (runner up).

Dux always has the top, top grades in every subject in the national exams (A level equivalent).

Puffalicious · 16/06/2021 18:17

My point is that my DS wouldn't have managed this if comprehensive education was as shoddy as the PP suggested.

Davros · 16/06/2021 18:40

Wow, impressive. I went to a private school but all we had was Head Girl (not me!). Is it a boarding school thing like Exeat?

Melitza · 16/06/2021 18:55

@Puffalicious I had to look Dux up so I've learnt something today.
Thanks
