Wallah! It's the first time I've seen voilà written this way. But when I think about it, it seems like a really obvious thing to do so I wonder how common it is.
Is it a "thing" that I've just missed before now?

@RaraRachael

vunerable is a pet hate of mine as well as deteriate. Both regularly used by news readers. Also secetary, library and Febuary. Grrrr....
Library is correct
Benjispruce3 · 15/06/2021 21:22

Some say liberry.

RaraRachael · 15/06/2021 21:26

@CustardySergeant

RaraRachael Library is correct.
Sorry, I meant when people say libary instead of library - that's what happens when you post late at night without your contact lenses in Grin
bitheby · 15/06/2021 21:27

By the way the numbers are formed, I'd bet a lot of money that the willy been writer has English as at least their second language.

shinynewapple21 · 15/06/2021 22:44

@BluebellsareBlue

Honestly it grinds my gears to see people typing "how can I reorganise my draw" what the ACTUAL fuck? What school did these people stay away from?!? I'm in a fb group, DIY on a budget, have had great tips on there but for fucks sake, the amount of people that write draw instead of drawer kills me!! It's only the English people and I think it's because of the accent, it sounds like draw when they say it but fucking Jesus Mary and the wee donkey, crack a fucking book! Preferably a dictionary!

Calm down love !

Honestly if people get this worked up about a simple spelling error you have to wonder what the rest of their life is like !

In my accent drawer / draw is pronounced exactly the same .

BreakingtheIce · 15/06/2021 22:59

It’s not really a simple error though is it? It’s a basic word used all the time. It’s like spelling house hows.

ILoveShula · 15/06/2021 23:08

I think it's because people don't think about what the words mean.

It's sad because many of these people only speak English.

3LittleDucksQuack · 15/06/2021 23:09

@stackemhigh no, it will be 'love little Johnny's altfit from Next, h&m etc.

Or went food shopping came back with another altfit. Can't help myself.

Bargain alfit in the sale for dd.

3LittleDucksQuack · 15/06/2021 23:10

*altfit

roobicoobi · 15/06/2021 23:38

In my accent drawer / draw is pronounced exactly the same .

It's not written the same though, which is the point.

LongPauseNoAnswer · 15/06/2021 23:57

Noone.

Noone is a surname.

My phone won’t let me use Noone without red lines and autocorrecting to no one. Give me rage.

Davros · 16/06/2021 00:19

I saw something today about someone applying for a dropped curve!

BlackeyedSusan · 16/06/2021 01:06

Common infant school misspellings...

Penis= pennies
Fuck= fork

BikeRunSki · 16/06/2021 04:11

Smoking mirrors

Still makes sense though!

CaptainMyCaptain · 16/06/2021 08:16

@BlackeyedSusan

Common infant school misspellings...

Penis= pennies
Fuck= fork

Also cunt = couldn't. Probably better in a Northern accent.
RaspberryCoulis · 16/06/2021 08:37

Saw another thread today where someone was talking about "been a mum" along the lines of "what's the best thing about been a mum? For me it's been able to ...."

Shock very poor grasp of English.

AfternoonToffee · 16/06/2021 08:59

This was something that made me smile as I read them both very shortly apart.

First person was advertising a toe rope, the second was saying that they needed to tow the line. It was the beauty of reading them both five minutes apart.

JSL52 · 16/06/2021 09:30

I saw on a FB group this morning
Mistermeeners 😂

Knittedfairies · 16/06/2021 11:17

There's a post today where vulnerable has been auto-corrected(?) to venerable.

MrsReeves · 16/06/2021 11:35

I've just remembered another "trickle treating" Grin

Michelangelo painted the 16th Chapel !
OMG that's priceless! Grin Grin Grin
Bluedeblue · 16/06/2021 12:19

The linguist Arnold Zwicky hypothesises that it's what non-French speakers would automatically write if they knew the word aurally but not in writing

aurally Oh, the irony!

BIWI · 16/06/2021 12:33

Not sure what the problem with that is? 'Aural' means to hear.

PattyPan · 16/06/2021 12:35

@shinynewapple21 they are pronounced the same for me too but I learnt about homophones in primary school
