Does anyone else just love the seaside?

Me & DH are taking the kids to a holiday park by the seaside for a few days this week. Last time we went was when DD was a small baby and I am so looking forward to it! I love the drive over, the smell as soon as you get near of the sea and chips and hot fresh waffles or doughnuts! Then walking along and seeing all the stalls with the fresh sea food. The little shops of souvenirs and toys. I think I could live by the coast, we are lucky to be blessed with some beautiful seaside towns in Yorkshire. DH thinks I am weird, but does anyone else? Anyone want to share their favouritw things or things to do with little children at the seaside?

I’m the same as you @ListenLinda. Live the sea, love the sea side, love sand, love all the little shops in and around the sea side and just the atmosphere in general. It’s a whole different little world and gives you such a great escape. I wish I could go more often to be honest and would love to retire out by the sea some day x

I love the seaside. I live a 30 min walk from the beach and feel truly blessed. One of the best things we ever did.

Dangerousminds · 15/06/2021 09:12

Love it! I live right by the sea on the south coast and have a couple of beaches walking distance. Wouldn’t ever want to move away.

Love it! Dh is the same with mountains. Dunno how we will ever decide where to retire to!! Grin

I absolutely love the seaside for all the same reasons as you OP.

I love the sea air, I love the sound of the waves and the seagulls.
The views from the castle at Scarborough are amazing. I love the hot donuts and and the ice cream shops.
I love all the lights from the arcades at night. There is so much fun and buzz about Scarborough.

I also love Saltburn for a bit of a quieter, simpler day. Just playing in the park, paddling and a walk down the pier.

The seaside lifts my spirits as soon as I step off the train.

@bendmeoverbackwards lemon tops are a whippy ice cream in a cone with a swirl of lemon sorbet on the top. They are beautiful!

Scarborough was lovely today. We managed to get parked by the RNLI and spend a few hours on the beach before it got busy.
Had a wander and got my Dad his favourites from one of the rock shops, and a bag of doughnuts and a waffle after a huge portion of fish and chips. My shorts are a bit tight now ☺️

I find the sea very calming. I love a beach in winter or summer.

That moment near the end of the journey when you can see the sea! Takes me right back to childhood.
All our childhood holidays were spent on the Yorkshire coast with grandparents. So when we had yound DC even though we went abroad we always had a bucket and spades week at Scarborough.

Since we couldn't go abroad last year or this I've booked lots of short breaks by the sea. Never mind your city breaks I want the sea! I love the East coast, Filey, Sandsend, Seahouses, Bamburgh, Scarborough. Not Whitby though.
Going to Filey next month. A huge luxury apartment right on the sea front costing more than a week abroad.

I love the seaside! Gift shops, ice creams, 2p machines, fairground rides, sandcastles, cups of tea in cafes, fish and chips, the sound of the waves... Not bothered about holidays abroad but I love an old fashioned British seaside!

I live in a NW coastal village and can see the sea from my bedroom window. I love the sounds of the seagulls and the water on the shore. It's so beautiful.

starfishmummy · 15/06/2021 15:28

I love it. Where we go is a villahe so there really isbt a whole lot there bit as long as I can get a post beach ice cream then thats fine

peaceanddove · 15/06/2021 16:02

Depends very much on which seaside. Skegness, Cleethorpes, Mablethorpe et al - I'd rather stick pins in my eyes.

But Cornwall, yes absolutely. I have been to the Caribbean and The Bahamas, and Cornish beaches best them hands down.
