Sussexes and bullying campaign

DeepThinkingGirl · 11/06/2021 00:59

Hi everyone !

Does anyone find the constant bullying of the Sussexes to affect their mental health ?

I find the mainstream misogyny to be a reflection of how society really does view women as a whole and how othering it is of people of other cultures.

I think baby Lilibet would be very sad to know the world received her with such strong opinions against her naming. It’s really sad that the world so full of hate doesn’t provide a nice place for kids to grow confidently.

I feel like if this happens in a powerful royal family, what’s there to hope in your average family!

Btw I have in law issues and I find the attitudes towards the sussexes triggering and upsetting

OP posts:

i only remember the deposit part. i didnt see Harper's bazaar.
yeah, i agree they are very privileged.

amusedtodeath1 · 12/06/2021 04:21

Wow, PC really gave them 5 Million Pounds? 5 Million! It does seem very ungrateful, if someone gave me 5 Million I'd be prepared to forgive quite a lot.

Billandben444 · 12/06/2021 06:49

I'm going back to the OP - if reading about H&M upsets you then DON'T DO IT. I'm interested to know why you've started the ball rolling on yet another thread (yawn) and now done a runner? Don't read about them, concentrate on getting your MH back on an even keel and stop posting goady threads. Please.

Roussette · 12/06/2021 07:38

no, but the deposit 5 million dollars paid by PC as far as i remember

@bluebell34567

Do you know that for a fact? Because there is much out there saying they bought it themselves and PC did not fund it. There is a DMail article speculating. But that's what the DM does.

On your list... again there is no sources out there saying much of what you post. So it's your supposition. And what you imagine.
Like saying Harry wants to be next in line... to you mean above his father or William?
That's nonsense.

Bovrilly · 12/06/2021 07:51

According to Variety, they didn't buy it outright, there is a mortgage on the property

Public documents also reveal the buyers secured a $9.5 million mortgage to acquire the 7.4-acre compound

BalloonSlayer · 12/06/2021 09:17

@Gorgeouslilgirl

By that logic, if I critique Boris J, am critical of our democracy or critical of UK and unpatriotic?

People and institutions are two distinct things.

Harry and Meghan constantly criticise "the institution" and take pains to stress they are not criticising the Queen. Private Eye pointed out (they have a lot of Palace leakers on the books apparently ) that the Queen sees herself and the institution as one and the same and has not been pleased.

A bit like, say your name is Jane and you're the manager of the accounts department. Someone says, "the accounts department is absolutely appallingly managed, terrible culture, it's a complete shambles. But Jane's lovely."

Gorgeouslilgirl · 12/06/2021 09:20

It is possible that Jane is lovely as a friend but is rubbish at managing accounts

Bovrilly · 12/06/2021 09:34

@Gorgeouslilgirl

It is possible that Jane is lovely as a friend but is rubbish at managing accounts
Also possible that she might be extremely pissed off to have her professional reputation trashed, especially if she's been doing the job for 70 years and she feels her personal identity and reputation is closely linked to the accounts department.
BalloonSlayer · 12/06/2021 09:34

Well yes but Jane would still be offended at hearing the opinion that she is crap at her job whereas the person who said it would be bewildered at her being offended, as didn't they go out of their way to say she was lovely?

ohforarainyday · 12/06/2021 09:47

Maybe the Queen should take steps to make her institution less racist, leaky, and backstabbing, then.

Gorgeouslilgirl · 12/06/2021 09:51

Honestly can anyone say the RF is well run? It badly needs an overhaul.

The Queen as a person and her personal level of commitment is distinct from how RF is run.

Bovrilly · 12/06/2021 09:59

The Queen as a person and her personal level of commitment is distinct from how RF is run.

As @BalloonSlayer suggests, the Queen might have a different opinion on this and as the person who has been running it for so long, might take criticism of the RF quite personally.

But who knows, and I agree about the overhaul.

BalloonSlayer · 12/06/2021 10:26

I am not saying the RF is well run.

It is run as well as any other multi million pound organisation headed up by a 95 year old CEO who has never passed an exam in their life, won an election, or worried about money.

I am saying that when anyone criticises it, whether that's H & M, Prince Charles, the media or you and I, there is always the caveat "but the Queen is absolutely maaaaarvellous."

But they are one and the same thing, so there is a dissonance. I totally disagree with one family having so much money/land/influence. Yet I love the Queen. I will be terribly sad when she goes and then I will pull myself together and love King Charles as well, gawd help me, I am clearly the perfect subject. It's a mystery!

Roussette · 12/06/2021 11:15

Yes, the Queen is at it's head but it is not just her who is 'the royal family'. There are those in line (Charles, W and G), and all the relatives, and the ones we don't talk about like Andrew, and people who have married in, and the courtiers, and the press offices and so on.

As Meghan said to OW... 'there's the family and there's the people who are running the institution. They are two seperate things'
MM had it sussed for sure.

It's a family business and to my mind, not well run. Too opaque but I think that will slowly change. At least I hope so.

Roussette · 12/06/2021 11:20

@BalloonSlayer

Hope you're watching the Trooping of the Colour! ? This time from Windsor Castle. We certainly do it well.

Never realised how massive the Castle was.

bluebell34567 · 12/06/2021 12:04

@Roussette

last line was a joke Rousette - next in line thing. Grin a bit of exaggeration .Grin
GlencoraP · 12/06/2021 12:05

It’s the largest and longest continually occupied Castle in the world .

Roussette · 12/06/2021 12:10

bluebell 😁

I don't know on here what's a joke and what isn't!

Wow Glencora that's interesting, never knew that. I know that a couple of Christmasses ago, there was a film/pics of the Windsor Castle Christmas decorations and it was gobsmacking and beautiful

Roussette · 12/06/2021 12:11

Sorry that emoji was meant to be laughing and not grimacing!

bluebell34567 · 12/06/2021 12:18

bluebell34567 · 12/06/2021 12:19

bluebell34567 · 12/06/2021 12:20

but we saw the castle. its huge and beautiful.

GlencoraP · 12/06/2021 12:22

It’s the wrong side of London for us but I keep meaning to go , haven’t been since I was a child

cupcakecourageous · 12/06/2021 12:23

But they are attacking the family and not 'the firm' (even if that might be their goal) surely they see they're causing hurt to their loved ones and losing respect of the public (who feel it's a shocking way to treat your family)

Perhaps it's not too late for a good old heart to heart with their loved ones, everyone aires their differences and move on in love?

It's doubtful though, because MM hasn't managed to heal anything with her own family - it seems conflict and bitterness will win over reconciliation, which is sad to see, because I doubt any of them want to see the others hurt, but that's all they're doing (from both sides but mostly from Meghan & Harry Markle)

Roussette · 12/06/2021 12:25

bluebell

There's an hour highlights programme BBC2 20.00 tonight. The queen looked like she really enjoyed it.
