Gin and tonic ? Gin and orange juice ? What are your preferences ?

I usually go for simple Schweppes tonic water as a mixer but good quality orange juice or a mix of orange and pineapple juice goes very well with a slug of gin, especially after a warm day. What does everyone else like with gin, apart from more gin ?

BTW, Tanqueray is my go-to these days, particularly as it's £20 a litre in Sainsbury's just now. But, this is about the gin accompaniments 🙂.

Tanqueray and Fever Tree Indian tonic, ice and a slab on fresh lime.

Sloe gin and bitter lemon.

As a gin and orange/pineapple afficianado, I'm clearly outnumbered. Yet vodka and orange, aka screwdriver, remains popular.

I get Waitrose essential tonic in cans because it's cheaper than fever tree and no sweeteners

I'm not particularly fussy about gin as long as it's not elderflower or strawberry. I get whatevers on offer at the drop store, but I've also got this on its way to me right now

I also like some gin with lemonade, such as the wolf? lemon one, thats one of the rare ones I don't like with tonic.

Lidl sometimes do a bitter orange pop that's really good with gin, or sometimes I have a mix of orange juice and tonic or soda.

Adding bitter lemon to the supermarket list! That sounds scrummy

CheerfulBunny · 10/06/2021 22:10

Sloe gin and bitter lemon is incredible (and turns a lovely colour). So fruity.
My latest fave is Bloom passionfruit and vanilla gin with tonic and fresh passionfruit spooned in the top. Yum!

Cawston Press fizzy rhubarb…

AdaColeman · 10/06/2021 22:14

Gin and Roses lime cordial is a lovely summer classic too. Gin

NiceGerbil · 10/06/2021 22:15

Cider. Sorry Grin

margotsdevil · 10/06/2021 22:19

Gin and ginger ale is my favourite - particularly a spiced gin like Ophir...

Bordois · 10/06/2021 22:21

Ginger beer or lemonade

AlwaysLatte · 10/06/2021 22:25

Ooh Tanqueray gin, Fever Tree tonic, slice of lime and a sprig of rosemary.

Justmuddlingalong · 10/06/2021 22:50

Gin and lilt is nice too. Necessity is the mother of invention and all that.

doublenotdobble · 11/06/2021 06:39

I didn't mean gin and mango juice OP, gin and tonic with smashed up mango and a twist of ground black pepper like this www.sprinklesandsprouts.com/mango-and-black-pepper-gin-tonic/

YellowMonday · 11/06/2021 15:46

G&T! But limited as I'm losing weight, so only one then switch to Gin & Soda. Add ins depend on the gin I'm drinking, my favourites include,

  • Classic lemon or lime wedge or slice of orange
  • Slice of cucumber and lemongrass
  • Orange, nutmeg and cinnamon stick
  • Sprig of rosemary and lemon slice
  • Lemon slice, thyme and juniper berries
  • Strawberries and Black Pepper
  • Fresh cherries and lime

I'm a total gin snob/lover, excited to find some new ideas.

Gin and fentimans ginger beer

RuddyHellItsSoftCell · 11/06/2021 18:38

I’m with you on the juice, except my choice is gin and grapefruit juice (I’ve not really got a sweet tooth). It’s delicious

CarolinaWeeper · 11/06/2021 18:41

I love just a standard gin and tonic with a slice of lemon or lime in it. The elderflower tonic from Fever Tree or Aldi is also really nice.

I agree that flavoured gin needs plain tonic with it. I had a rhubarb gin with tonic and a thin slice of fresh ginger in it the other day.....was divine!

OverByYer · 11/06/2021 18:47

I agree you can’t beat a proper dry London ( Beefeater for me)gin and Schweppes tonic with ice and a slice.
I’m not a fan of flavoured gin.
I was drinking gin long before it became fashionable

TeaSoakedDisasterMagnet · 11/06/2021 18:51

Always with lemonade, I just can’t get on with tonic.

I love a good fruity gin with lemonade, something like orange gin with lemonade is very refreshing in summer. It makes me think of calypso ice pops! In winter a nice heavy mulberry or damson gin goes nicely with a lemonade for a little bit of a rounder flavour.

Lizardcentral · 11/06/2021 18:56

Try a Cubata.
Gin, ice, lime juice and cola, and a slice of lime.

Ginmakesitallok · 11/06/2021 19:06

@OverByYer

Gin and Fanta lemon
I got exceptionally drunk on a boat in Menorca on gin and Fanta lemon.... fab memories
MarjorieBouvier · 11/06/2021 19:11

Pink lemonade, cloudy lemonade or cream soda. Gin & cream soda tastes EXACTLY like an ice cream float.

Lightningrain · 11/06/2021 19:13

My favourite is Tanqueray with Fevertree tonic (usually the light) and a wedge of pink grapefruit.
