Forgot to cancel Tesco order...

Help! I 'hold' my Tesco delivery slot by adding two bottles of champagne to the basket and then go back and remove these and add a full shop the day before. Only this time I forgot. Can I just hand them back to the delivery driver for a refund? Am such an idiot!

Phone them and cancel the delivery, save wasting the driver's time. I did this once, got told off by the phone person and told never to do it again but at least it saved the driver a few miles.

It's coming at 8am Blush,.I'll try and phone now. Thanks

Yea you can hand them back, they may still charge you delivery. Tesco wasted lots of my time recently by not turning up at all and them cancelling my order they didn't even tell me and their customer service representatives couldn't help.it was very stressful. So don't feel bad.

FasterthanBolt · 06/06/2021 05:47

Thanks. Their call centre doesn't open until 10am so will throw myself on the mercy of the delivery driver!

Good luck Op
And I like your style! Two bottles of champagne as the holding items! My holding items are two pots of Yeo Valley yoghurt every week.

maddiemookins16mum · 06/06/2021 06:29

Mine is 40 pouches of Felix as good as it looks.

Trumpton · 06/06/2021 06:35

You can hold your order with a low cost item by the way. I put a pack of toilet rolls in.
I did have a phone call from Tesco once who asked if I really only wanted a bag of apples and nothing else delivered because they could cancel the order if not. Now that’s service!

FindingMeno · 06/06/2021 06:38

Live a little!
Keep the bubbly and forget the loo roll and milk Wink

sunnytimes83 · 06/06/2021 06:39

I hold my slot with a banana..!

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 06/06/2021 06:39

Why dont you add something you know you'll need? I add bread and milk to 'hold' the delivery slot.

SimonJT · 06/06/2021 06:40

Drink them!

I used to hold my online shopping slot with beer, last March or maybe April you couldn’t get on the website to amend your order, I very much enjoyed £40 of beer.

daisyducky · 06/06/2021 06:46

I thought it had to be over £40 so mines 2 bottles of champagne and 12 pints of milk as I kept forgetting to order milk 😂

Sirzy · 06/06/2021 06:51

If the final order is less than £40 there is an extra charge but you can hold the slot with anything. I always add milk as my holding item

lovelybitofsquirrell · 06/06/2021 06:54

This happened to me last year. The drive called me before delivery to confirm if I wanted my £2..50 order! Must happen a lot. Hopefully your driver will do the same !

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 06/06/2021 06:56

No it can be anything
Unsure33 · 06/06/2021 07:06

I always put gin in mine 😂 twice now the driver has called me and taken the gin back .

DiamondBright · 06/06/2021 07:16

Some supermarkets don't let you check out under £40, I forgot to update my order a few weeks ago and ended up with a small shop of essentials and a bottle of champagne, I try to remember to hold it with tea bags or cat food now, at least something more useful if I forget again.

YetAnotherWalk · 06/06/2021 07:26

Oh no, I always hold the slot with about £40 worth of food from my favourites so at least it won't be a total disaster - just a bit random!

I'd take the 2 bottles, go to the shops when they open for food and then come drink the champagne when I get in and cry Grin

FasterthanBolt · 06/06/2021 07:27

Good to know you can hold it under £40, I always assumed it had to be over!

Mybestusername · 06/06/2021 07:28

I have done this in the past, the driver just took it back

MayorGundersonsDogRufus · 06/06/2021 07:29

I'd just enjoy the champagne as a treat!

GodolphinHorne · 06/06/2021 07:32

Well, if it makes you feel better, I have a bottle of malt whisky and a bottle of expensive designer gin hidden in my wardrobe from doing this. Twice. It never occurred to me to give it back to the driver Blush

Fairnair · 06/06/2021 07:41

Morrison’s, Waitrose & Ocado don’t let you check out if you are under the minimum amount, think they are all £40.00.

legotruck · 06/06/2021 07:45

Tesco definitely lets you check out under £40.

The £40 refers to the minimum basket amount otherwise a surcharge of £4 is added. So you can order a loaf of bread on its own but your deliver fee won't be the £3 that you clicked on when you booked the slot, it will be £7.

So many people confuse this with needing to add over £40 people to 'hold' the slot.

FasterthanBolt · 06/06/2021 07:48

All sorted. Had a 'phone call from the local big Tesco at 0730 (it was due between 8-9) asking if I wanted the order and was very lovely when I said I'd messed up Grin. I will do bread and milk next time.
