Are most actresses very very slim in real life?

I saw a well known actress a few days ago, standing behind her in the queue for a coffee. She was dressed down, however was clearly very pretty in person. However I was taken aback by how slim she was. I would say she was slightly taller than average, not a tiny person if you know what I mean. But so so slim. Do you think most famous actresses/singers etc are like this? Maybe I’m very naive.

The lollipop head is a well-known phrase describing when women get too thin and their head appears too big for their far too thin bodies.

And 'The lard arse' is a well-known phrase describing when women get too fat and their arse appears too big for their bodies.

But what's your point? Are you saying it's ok to put others down in this way?

vinoandbrie · 05/06/2021 00:42

I think this goes for men too. I spoke with Richard Madeley a couple of years ago and was surprised how very thin he was.

I had always thought he was just average bloke size - he was completely normal in terms of height, but much thinner than I’d envisaged (he was just lovely though, so friendly!).

Olivia Coleman looks healthy and slim.
There is a photo of Kate Middleton in a green dress standing next to some women tennis players and she looks about half the size of them. The tennis players are slim and healthy, Kate looks as if she has an eating disorder.

@WorraLiberty no lard arse is an insult. Saying a woman is fat is not an insult.
So many celebs are far too slim because the industry expects unhealthy weights in women. It is not wrong to notice this. And most of the famous celebs have photos online of when they were newer to the industry looking slim, but healthily so. Kate Middleton looked slim and healthy before she got married.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 05/06/2021 00:47

My DD is so slim she doesn't have to wear a bra, she wears size 0 jeans from the US. She eats quite a bit. She's just short and very slender in build. Her feet are only a size 3. She's fully grown, too.

toocold54 · 05/06/2021 00:48

I was an actor...trained at a top drama school. When I left I was a UK 6-8 and an agent said "You should lose a bit more weight...casting directors will prefer it if you're full-waif rather than just skinny"

And this is why people are commenting on people’s weight it’s not about body shaming but rather that a lot of these women are forced to keep such unnaturally slim figures just to keep their jobs which is not ok.

As you've clearly missed my point I'll quote you again...

The lollipop head is a well-known phrase describing when women get too thin and their head appears too big for their far too thin bodies.

Are you saying that because 'The lollipop head' is a well-known phrase, it's ok to say it? Just as 'Lard arse' is also a well-known phrase?

OhGodNotThisAgain · 05/06/2021 00:50

Kate looks as if she has an eating disorder

Maybe she doesn’t have an eating disorder. Stop slinging “anorexic” and “eating disorder” around as insults ffs

toocold54 · 05/06/2021 00:51

Kate Middleton looked slim and healthy before she got married.

I always think Kate Middleton looks ill now not just because of her weight loss but she looks pale and worried too. I can only imagine how stressful it is being in the public eye which probably would lead to weight loss.

You're right, it's absolutely not ok.

But read back at some of the comments and 'well-known phrases' and you'll see there is definitely body shaming going on.

Also, individual people's bodies being commented on rather than posters simply stating that many famous women are forced to keep such unnaturally slim figures just to keep their jobs.

It's nasty imo to name names - that makes it personal.

EmeraldShamrock · 05/06/2021 00:53

Yes I'd imagine the slim ones have an active lifestyle and eat well with a miracle skincare routine, TV shows every wrinkle and blemish in HD.
I wouldn't think they're sickly thin as we've rebranded slim as thin.

WorraLiberty · 05/06/2021 00:54

And the hilarious comment by the no doubt perfectly proportioned Charlize43 proves my point...

EmeraldShamrock · 05/06/2021 00:54

Echoes pp shocked at their RL height TV makes them taller if slim.

EmeraldShamrock · 05/06/2021 01:00

Lots of green eyed monsters on the thread. If body swap existed there would be a queue outside the celebrities front door begging.

ovensoff · 05/06/2021 01:04

No, I have no desire to be unhealthily thin.

Adrianneanneanne · 05/06/2021 01:10
@WorraLiberty because there is an unhealthy pressure on women celebs to be too thin.
No one has a problem saying someone is fat. It is simply a fact.
Where? Curvy Is in fashion. Do youw bully women wi

EmeraldShamrock · 05/06/2021 01:11

No, I have no desire to be unhealthily thin. They're most liking in the low normal range of BMI over the lower, that what happens to your body when you work out regularly, plus they're all vegans.

ovensoff · 05/06/2021 01:12

Fat is not in fashion. Curvy simply means woman is slim and has visible hips and natural size breasts for her frame.

Charlize43 · 05/06/2021 01:13

@WorraLiberty

Name & shamed!

Good thing, I don't offend easily. I'm sorry. I just couldn't help myself... There's always one!

Adrianneanneanne · 05/06/2021 01:13

With. No

EmeraldShamrock · 05/06/2021 01:15

There are so many teens today who are so tiny and always on diets. Doesn't help that some staff are the same! Unfortunately there are many more teenagers overweight than underweight. The bum and breasts are in now kylie Jenner and co are not thin they're slim toned with a gym body.

The Kardashians are certainly curvy but you could spend between now and the end of time at the gym and you'd never achieve their curves. Because they bought them.

A trend that celebrates a body with the cartoonish curves of a fake boobs and a fake bum (and every other procedure available) isn't exactly progress.

VVKills27 · 05/06/2021 01:29

I saw Amy Winehouse just as she was becoming famous and she looked like the tiniest person imaginable. I also remember seeing one of JLo’s outfits at the Hard Rock Cafe & it was closer in size to a Barbie outfit than a supposedly ‘curvy’ woman. I was a size 8 back then & it was far smaller than me...

Stakhanovite · 05/06/2021 01:35

@Bumzoo

Yes. I've seen a few and they were all remarkably thin.

Thinnest ever was Kate Middleton. She's the thinnest person I've ever seen.

I saw Pippa close up a couple of years ago. Emaciated. Really frighteningly thin.
