Are most actresses very very slim in real life?

I saw a well known actress a few days ago, standing behind her in the queue for a coffee. She was dressed down, however was clearly very pretty in person. However I was taken aback by how slim she was. I would say she was slightly taller than average, not a tiny person if you know what I mean. But so so slim. Do you think most famous actresses/singers etc are like this? Maybe I’m very naive.

I’ve seen the Strictly dancers in real life... they are tiny ..

A friend of mine has been to Strictly Live and said similar. All the dancers are teeny tiny. And very, very orange. Oti and Johannes hadn't joined the show then, but I assume they are not orange.

She said that Tess Daly was so thin in real life that she was almost uncomfortable to look at.

All the ones I've met, yes. Actors too. I could probably pick up Andrew Scott and carry him, even with his guns. And yes. i was tempted 😂

If you have seen exhibitions of film costumes, they are tiny. Meryl Streep's Mamma Mia costume was surprising to me, I just hadn't clocked she was so slim.

It is scary that young girls see this. There are so many teens today who are so tiny and always on diets. Doesn't help that some staff are the same!
The majority of teens at my school want to be a Jenner or a Kardashion figure-wise. This is doing the rounds about Kendall Jenner having the prefect body - lots of girls talking about how they wish they could be like her in this photo. Whilst she is stunning her body is not achievable for many!

I’ve also seen Fiona Bruce in real life (at a work event) and was surprised by how tiny she was.

I find Liz Hurley to be very beautiful but her thinness made me a bit uncomfortable, I feel like she must be hungry all the time. I can't put my finger on why. I have a manager who is skinny and just constantly eats carbs but I feel like Liz H wouldn't do that.

Agree RE Kate Middleton. I was at how thin she was in real life. Very beautiful and pristine but tiiiiiiny. Her waist was basically nonexistent and her hips were like a child!
I know people say she has a sporty physique etc but she was just miniscule.

Was at a premiere with sienna Miller once and she was like a little doll. Very small height wise and very thin too, but more like a model type.

My friend who was a successful model was always being told to loose weight by her agent. She was a size 6! Not thin enough though apparently. She packed it in once she'd made enough money and is now a chef!

Not actress but Victoria Beckham was the tiniest thing I've ever seen, you know she's very thin but IRL it's a whole other level

I did a bit of modelling in the 90s, was always told I needed to lose weight. I was 5ft10 & 9 stone but I didn't want to be smaller/restrict food. I felt too skinny in normal life.

Yes, I saw Anna Friel once and she was tiny - both I height and slimness. And Nigella Lawson- whilst obviously curvier than some of the women mentioned here, had such a tiny waist.

I remember years (okay decades) ago I had a Beverley Hills 90210 magazine and it had all the actresses weights in (how horrible is that) and they were all around 100lb I must have been about aged 15 at the time and weighed more than that.

Yep. I’m sure I read somewhere the average BMI in hollywood is 17-19.

I remember some actress talking about how she managed her weight. She alternated days between 1200 and 1400 calories.

Not an actress, but I remember walking up behind Paula Radcliffe the marathon runner at Oxford Circus - she was so thin I seriously thought it might be someone with an eating disorder before I realised who she was. Probably because of the lack of body fat.

About 10 years ago , I saw Kiera Knighly in the street. I didnt notice her height too much but she looked like a different species. Her face was perfect, the most beautiful face I have ever seen. She always looks thin but irl she was very thin and just had this prominent face. It was hard not to just stare. I am not even particularly a fan of hers but wow.

They're all usually not very tall, either. My DD was on an advert. She's 5ft.,1in and about 7st., 5. She looked far bigger on screen.

I met Camilla, duchess of Cornwall once and was surprised how short and thin she was, she would’ve been about a size 10, but seems larger on tv.

Kate looks tiny in photos or tv, I can’t imagine how small she must be in real life.

Also, I remember reading an interview with Liz Hurley where she said she maintained her working weight at 8.5 stone. She’s the same height as me and I’m 11 stone and bmi of under 23. I’ve only been near that weight in adult life after I’d been ill and in hospital.

I went to drama school. Every girl on my course had some sort of eating disorder or body dysmorphia. It's seen as par for the course.

I was told that I was overweight and needed to lose some pounds in order to get work...I was 9stone and a size 10. It made me quite unwell for a while.

I'm now not working in the industry and much happier for it (although considerably more than 9 stone but I don't really care anymore!!)

Definitely true that the camera adds 10 pounds. Also, many actors you meet are TINY. Al Pacino and Robert Carlyle could fit in your handbag!

Kate Middleton and plenty of other well-known women have necks where it goes into a kind of hollow. This photo shows it. Kate did not use to have this. Yes, this can happen as slim women get old, but when you see younger women with necks like this, it is a sign they are too thin.

Just looked up Fiona Bruce. A number of sites have her at a US size 4 - One said a 22 inch waist. She doesn’t look that tiny although she’s 5’10 which is taller than average.

My friend met Beatrice and Eugenie and said they were tiny too. This was a few years ago when they looked more solid especially next to Kate.

Yep & yet lots of posters on here will say they are the same size, we've lost sight of what's normal etc.

Most Hollywood actresses have proportions similar to a 10 yr old child.

I'm probably taller and thinner than Kate. I don't insult others as I'm not sad and insecure about myself.

Not actresses but in my previous career I met a lot of female tennis players as we hosted a lot at a hotel I worked in. They were very slender, even the ones that looked a bit more "normal" like Lindsey Davenport.

Anna Kournikova was tiny and honestly you wouldn't have looked at her twice in the street in real life other than at her very long hair

Years ago Liz Hurley said she goes to bed hungry every night. Fuck that - life is way too long to be hungry all the time!

If an actress talks about how she loves eating pizza, rest assured she is talking about a barely visible sliver, followed by several days of "cleansing juices".

I recently read an article about the actors on Buffy (was reading stuff following the posts about Joss Whedon) and weight was mentioned. Sarah Michelle Gellar was allegedly 94lbs in the later seasons and her stunt double said that she couldn't get down to the same weight and still have the strength to do her job.

She's 5' 4 so 94lbs (or 6 stone 10 / 42kg) gives her a BMI of 16.
