Why are people such lousy dirty lazy antisocial utter bastards?

Driving through a popular beach resort on my way to work this morning and the crap & litter and piled up rubbish absolutely everywhere was staggering.
Piles of rubbish clearly just tipped out of a car door...literally less than a foot from a huge bin with a huge open “Chuck in” open mouth every where.

Just why?
They brought it with them, why don’t they take it with them or bin it?
Do they not listen to HRH David Attenborough and his messages about throwing crap around the planet?

It’s up there with dog shit leavers, dirty dirty bastards.

Usually it’s the seagulls that have pulled things out the bins. The bins aren’t emptied regularly enough.

I live at the seaside.

LubaLuca · 01/06/2021 17:41

Driving back from the seaside yesterday we were caught in a little traffic jam in a residential area. The passenger in the car in front chucked a handful of rubbish (napkins, wrappers and receipts) from her window. DH got out, picked it up and posted it back through her window onto her lap Grin
People are awful sometimes. You can only blame seagulls up to a point.

imaginethemdragons · 01/06/2021 17:49

Nope I’m not accepting that it’s seagulls.
It’s dirty ass people.

All you have to do is look around at the discarded masks to see how filthy people are. Plus the whole ‘the bins need emptying more’ attitude really gets to me. Take a bloody bag then and fill your own rubbish with it and take it home. It’s disgusting, no responsibility for themselves at all and full of excuses and an ‘its someone else is fault’ attitude.

bonfireheart · 01/06/2021 17:54

"The bins aren't emptied often enough"...
You put your rubbish into a bag and carry it with you. Simple.

BirthdayCakeBelly · 01/06/2021 17:54

The country lane down to my DC’s nursery has a lay-by. I’ve lost count of the number of mornings there are condoms, KFC wrappers, alcohol cans etc thrown on the floor.
I wish I lived closer so I could do a stakeout and run down the lane screaming at them to take their litter home when they do it 😆

HildegardNightingale · 01/06/2021 17:55

Absolutely it’s dirty ass people. Dh and I are litter pickers up volunteers. Have the hi vis jacket and litter hoop/grabber. The patch of picnic area just around from our house always has loads of rubbish around it. Sometimes we can fill 2 black plastic bags in minutes.

colouringcrayons · 01/06/2021 17:57

I know it is annoying but it isn't new! We have three possible approaches - hardcore Singapore-style policing of this (expensive and depressing) or lots of longterm strategies to change people's views (ceaper but slower) or clean up after them (cheaper than policing and there is evidence that people are more likely to chuck litter once someone else has).

Maireas · 01/06/2021 17:59

Don't get me started! I live near a National Park and it's got worse this year. A beautiful spot, high up, with a fantastic view, just ruined with people dumping litter. Also an increase in dog fouling. Awful.

I live near an inland beauty spot. It really isn't the seagulls!

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Loving your DH style!

Some people just don’t care about the environment, littering is second nature

Others may have been under the influence

Hardertobreathe · 01/06/2021 18:03

@LubaLuca he needs to be careful. I once read about a man who was seriously hurt by the people in the car he had returned rubbish to. I can’t find the info now but this is equally horrific.

itsgettingwierd · 01/06/2021 18:06

I live near a beach.

I always take a plastic bag in my cool box for rubbish and take it home.

I don't use the bins in hope it leaves space for those who aren't use to the beach and coming prepared.

But it appears most just don't think rubbish belongs in a bin. It's like some alien concept to them.

And when locals tell them politely as they leave "excuse me, you've accidentally left something behind" (and even point out the numerous bins on the prom) they look confused or scream at you to mind your own.

WestendVBroadway · 01/06/2021 18:09

Funnily enough I was watching a 'Lousy, dirty , lazy, anti-social utter bastard seagull' behave just like this yesterday. It was sitting on top of a bin that contained a KFC bag . It kept pecking away and tearing strands of paper off, which it then tossed on the ground. It then dragged the whole bag out, and continued to peck until it had strewn the contents all across the pavement. These birds have no shame.

Dizzybintess · 01/06/2021 18:09

I live near Barry Island and the filth that is left on there after a bank hol is disgraceful.

flibbertygibb · 01/06/2021 18:11

I'm on a day out at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and I couldn't agree with you more! I've witnessed a family group of 15 (grandparents, parents and kids) literally throw all of their rubbish on the floor. Empty plastic cups, crisp packets, sweet wrappers, cigarette ends and even a pair of wet socks. I was on my own (the teenagers ditched me as soon as we walked in, which was the plan!) So I chickened out of saying anything.

Sailor2009 · 01/06/2021 18:14

Took the dog this morning, she ran across the grass and came back with a shitty nappy in her mouth that some cretin had left in the middle of the park Envy

megletthesecond · 01/06/2021 18:16

I'm a regular litter picker and if I think a car has just littered I PassAgg silently litter pick right next to then as they sit there. I just walk right by people on the beach too. I figure that if they cared they'd pick it up.

krustykittens · 01/06/2021 18:17

There is a beautiful beach in Scotland that has been invaded by camper vans this week. Litter left everywhere, crofters fencing ripped up so they can have campfires and people are actually shitting on the beach. It has caused a lot of upset and people are wondering if the Scottish Government should introduce restrictions on wild camping as a lot of people are just trashing local beauty spots and walking away.

Oh that's awful. Littering is bad enough and so is outside toileting on public walked over areas (find a bush!) but to pull apart fences etc to make room and have bonfires is just vandalism.
krustykittens · 01/06/2021 18:20

Replacing fencing is an eyewatering cost as well. :(

LubaLuca · 01/06/2021 18:21

@LubaLuca he needs to be careful. I once read about a man who was seriously hurt by the people in the car he had returned rubbish to.

It was two women and a couple of little kids, and he was very polite about it. I don't think he'd have been such an Eco-hero if there'd been a couple of sturdy blokes chucking their crap out of a car Grin

I once watched someone have a huge strop about rubbish everywhere dirty gits etc. She put her fish and chip rubbish in the bin and seconds after she left the gulls/ crows had chucked it everywhere
