Why are people such lousy dirty lazy antisocial utter bastards?

Driving through a popular beach resort on my way to work this morning and the crap & litter and piled up rubbish absolutely everywhere was staggering.
Piles of rubbish clearly just tipped out of a car door...literally less than a foot from a huge bin with a huge open “Chuck in” open mouth every where.

Just why?
They brought it with them, why don’t they take it with them or bin it?
Do they not listen to HRH David Attenborough and his messages about throwing crap around the planet?

It’s up there with dog shit leavers, dirty dirty bastards.

Yes, all people are dirty bastards, apart from you OP, of course.

Templetreebloom · 01/06/2021 18:24

live near an inland beauty spot. It really isn't the seagulls!
Ive seen gulls and crows do this on the M5 services.

Cam2020 · 01/06/2021 18:24

I mean, I agree with what you're saying, OP, but this made me laugh:

Do they not listen to HRH David Attenborough and his messages about throwing crap around the planet?

Do you honestly think the sort of people who litter are people who watch /read this kind of thing? To take note, you have to care a little in the first place!

Atalantea · 01/06/2021 18:25

@LubaLuca

Driving back from the seaside yesterday we were caught in a little traffic jam in a residential area. The passenger in the car in front chucked a handful of rubbish (napkins, wrappers and receipts) from her window. DH got out, picked it up and posted it back through her window onto her lap Grin People are awful sometimes. You can only blame seagulls up to a point.
Oh brilliant!! 🤝
Maireas · 01/06/2021 18:26

I suggest large cut outs of Sir David Attenborough posted at every beauty spot!
Nothing can be done about naughty seagulls Sad

megletthesecond · 01/06/2021 18:28

There was a video on the UK litter picking group the other week of a bloke who returned rubbish to a car and got assaulted. IIRC it was on video and the police are involved.

woodhill · 01/06/2021 18:29

Yes, such a shame, don't understand it

imaginethemdragons · 01/06/2021 18:36

Excuse me!
I do not drop any crap anywhere ever.

I grew up in Germany where littering is an absolute no no 100% no one drops litter at all ever.

I stand by my opening post, dirty lousy bastards.

Agree 100% with cardboard cut outs of HRH Sir David Attenborough at every beauty spot in the country. Looking stern though , his stern stare I imagine to be very powerful.

We went for a walk with the dog late yesterday to a local park. I don't know why I was surprised because every bank holiday they leave everything behind from their dirty barbeques and picnics, and what is laughable is these people who scream when they see a dog and run away are the offenders who fill the dog shit bins with their junk.

Take it home you ungrateful bastards. You will kill wildlife with your plastic. This is a time of year when young animals and birds are born and humans with tiny brains, lots of children and an awful lot of unconsumed food leave these beautiful places with their massive carbon footprints behind for all to see.

Who the hell do you think is going to clear it all up I ask ??? ffs

SimonJT · 01/06/2021 18:36

Its annoying, we had a picnic Greenwich park today, there was quite a lot of rubbish, the bins near us were all full, which I would expect on after a warm bank holiday weekend. But what I don’t get is that you take your food etc in a carrier bag, so why can’t you put it bacl in that same bag and either take it home, or while not the best option put the bag next to the bin.

@imaginethemdragons

Is there anything taught in schools that help form that mindset ?

woodhill · 01/06/2021 18:41

Doesn't seem to be taught and the students don't seem to have much awareness or interest in recycling or sustainability in my experience

It is even worse with Covid

ShinySquirrel · 01/06/2021 18:43

It is disgusting.

Pre-covid, we were teaching our DC to 'leave it a little nicer than when we got here', so we'd take all our own rubbish home with us and pick up a few extra bits that other people left.

I don't feel comfortable getting the DC to do that now, but I still do it.

Amdone123 · 01/06/2021 18:45

I live in a not very posh area, but people here look after it as best we can. Respect and all that. I have a lovely friend who has done very well for herself and lives in a beautiful house. She visited me a few years ago and when she was leaving I walked her to her fancy car and we chatted, with her car door open. All of a sudden, she emptied some rubbish from her car straight onto the road on which I live. I very calmly picked it all up and put it back in her car.
Funnily enough, I haven't seen her in ages !

I live near a amazing open space, acres of land, will never be built on, ancient woodlands, bluebell woods etc etc. It’s wonderful. But every weekend in the summer it is invaded by idiots who do things like have disposable bbqs on bone dry grass ( several serious fires over the last few years) and heavy drinking sessions. They manage to carry the stuff all the way from their cars but oh dear , lose the use of their arms when it comes to clearing up after themselves.

There are wardens, but I wouldn’t want their job, imagine having to singlehandedly confront drunken louts and ask them to clean up their mess.

Jahebejrjr · 01/06/2021 18:47

It’s beyond me how people can drop litter. I can’t bear it. Some people would be happy living in a skip. They can’t even be bothered to clear up litter in their own front gardens and streets.

Msfoxy17 · 01/06/2021 18:52

Yesterday I found a dog poo bag in the enclosed playground my daughter was in (with numerous other children). The bag was also the same colour as the grass so easy not to see. There was a dog poo bin over the other side of the green... It totally disgusted me that someone would do that and just another daily example of how filthy a lot of people seem to be.

Ha! A couple of years ago I asked a girl to pick up her takeaway chicken snack bones from the floor of the bus . Got a mouthful(not of chicken bones luckily,) in response. I recognised the school uniform so emailed the school, describing the girl and her friend , they were quite distinctive. The response from the DH was pathetic “we teach care for the environment and organise litter picks in the school grounds” my response to that was a) why are you letting them litter in the school grounds and b ) maybe you ought to re think your care for the environment curriculum to include littering on public transport. Funnily enough the DH never got back to me.

When I used to take kids out on trips they understood that littering was a no go. We always left places where we ate our lunch pristine.

LubaLuca · 01/06/2021 18:56

Your husband is my hero.

No need for adulation, he was plenty pleased with himself. I had an hour in the car with him still bathing in the glory of his good deed...Hmm

oneglassandpuzzled · 01/06/2021 18:58

Ha ha, sorry!

Wardens need tasers. And I'm only just joking.
DahliaMacNamara · 01/06/2021 19:02

I live close to an inland beauty spot too. What strikes me is the people who drive into beautiful countryside to dispose of their unwanted furniture, mattresses, asbestos roofs etc in the woods. There are tips, sorry, recycling centres, in all the towns. It's more trouble to drive that crap down country lanes than it would be to do it properly.
I once watched someone open their car door outside my house as I walked back from the school run, and tip out a load of takeaway rubbish onto the pavement. I had a few choice words to say, which was possibly a bit stupid of me, but I wasn't in thinking mode at the time. They picked it up and drove away.

GreyHare · 01/06/2021 19:02

People are disgusting, I was brought up to leave nothing but your footprints, seems many were brought up to leave smouldering bbq's and carrier bags full of their picnic leftovers and dirty nappies.

Georgyporky · 01/06/2021 19:05

I used to regularly find fag-ends on my driveway, very annoying.
I then caught my ex-nasty-bastard-DH emptying his car ashtray on OUR drive. He really couldn't see what was wrong.
