What really boring crap does your dh try to talk to you about?

Yesterday DH tried to talk to me about stationary gas engines. He seemed suprised when l wasn’t interested.

My friend’s bf used to talk to her about overhead haulage systems.

He works in finance so tries to tell me about proposed legislation changes, new forms, how they'll have to change the letterhead... (Eyes glaze over)

Also about his hobby. It's incredibly dull but he gets so excited. I have to be careful to keep a poker face as a slight twich of an eyebrow is an invitation for a detailed explanation of what's going on.

Quincie · 19/05/2021 13:14

Tsk, tsk - we're all on a gender spectrum now - you obviously just need to try harder ladies

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 19/05/2021 13:19

Some of these are hilarious.

Worrying how often Warhammer pops up

Caravans.
I love ours and enjoy going every weekend however I'm not interested in talking about them in between.

cookiecreampie · 19/05/2021 13:25

Mass Effect Legendary Edition.....snore

cookiecreampie · 19/05/2021 13:25

Or the war

Sometimesonly · 19/05/2021 13:26

Italian politics. Tbf we live in Italy and he knows a lot about as he's been an avid newspaper reader for the past forty years.....but all the ins and outs, the allegiances, the bust ups. I've got no hope of catching up now and it's so boring.

trimtops · 19/05/2021 13:28

fishing - alllllllllll about it.

and not the exciting sea fishing, the sitting down all day type,

Tartyflette · 19/05/2021 13:30

Trains, and railways in general.
As in ooh, look, a train! It must be out of King's Cross...
Like I care.

OhRene · 19/05/2021 13:31

Fucking crypto currency.

I don't want to fucking know. I don't care who does it. I don't care that Elon Musk has one (or whatever. I dunno. I stopped listening)

I agreed for him to use £250 for it but the £3K in it he keeps telling me about and why DOESN'T BLOODY EXIST TIL ITS IN MY DAMN HAND.

hunneylove · 19/05/2021 13:32

Gardening - flowers, plants, veg patch, fruit trees, berries, herbs, shrubs

I hate gardening - looks nice though and the home-grown stuff is lovely (worth putting up with incessant chat)

nixonten · 19/05/2021 13:33

I have had this kind of 'conversation' with people at work.
The most boring was an explanation of how the strings of a 12 string guitar are tuned. I am tone deaf!

RagzReturnsRebooted · 19/05/2021 13:34

Wierdly, stationary engines! He and his brother have collected and exhibited them since they were children. I always take the piss and ask But What Do They DO?!

Dunlin · 19/05/2021 13:34

Vexatious rheumatologists. Sometimes it’s vexatious dermatologists.
Previously on Conversations with my Husband has featured most vexatious paediatricians.

Whoarethewho · 19/05/2021 13:35

@bellropes

Various electrical projects.

Machinery he has known over the years, it's running and repair details.

Sometimes physics and science related stuff.

And then we are surprised when we have a gender pay gap and fewer females in stem subjects.

Physics and science and mathematics is essential to getting a good job and shouldn't be seen as boring. But in discussions with my female friends (not my sisters who are all engineers) It is overwhelming the females who claim it is boring or don't understand a sad part of societies conditioning (although you could argue as proven by my families situation that society doesn't force women not to care about science).

Football, Golf, pensions, Football, Golf, pensions, Football, Golf, pensions......Groundhog day here......

mistermagpie · 19/05/2021 13:36

Camping. Camping equipment. Campervans. Tents.

So so dull.

curly100 · 19/05/2021 13:38

@Tartyflette

Yep, and not just current trains/railways but where there used to be railways!!!
IntermittentParps · 19/05/2021 13:40

My DP has learned not to do this Grin

I think I probably bore him with 'so then I said, and then he went, and I thought...' type stuff.

My absolutely fab local greengrocer gets a bit carried away if I innocently ask about the price/availability/packaging etc of anything, and goes into great technical detail about the warehouse/supplier/transport/storage arrangements. I smile and nod and then usually buy a bit more because I feel bad Grin and I like him so much.

thistimelastweek · 19/05/2021 13:44

Ailments, aches and pains.
Bins and all things collection related.

Maggiesfarm · 19/05/2021 13:44

Cars.

Nietzschethehiker · 19/05/2021 13:45

Outboard engines Grin he inherited a boat from his DF and its an odd emotionally charged issue (his DF was a disappearing arse). I'm on board (Grin no pun intended ) with the boat and the state of it etc etc. But the outboard ....oh dear lord. Long diatribes on the fuel ratio and the small holes that he is drilling and blah blah blah

I can't help it is just unutterably boring. But to be fair I start sentences with " You'll never guess what I just saw on MN...." far more than is healthy.

On the bright side we both work in a specific sector so have long involved conversations about outcome evidencing that would bore anyone else on earth rigid but we bond over Grin.

In fact I just pootled down all excited that I had found a way to evidence two criteria in a new way and he got all excited along with me.

Hmm maybe I should make more effort with the outboard conversation i mean I won't but maybe I should Grin

ColourMeExhausted · 19/05/2021 13:45

Oh god, so much! Gaming. Electrical equipment for the house. Fibre optical Broadband (i mean, I'm interested in as far as it takes to update this and enjoy the benefits. But that's as far as I need to take it! It doesn't require a long fucking conversation!) How much he hates our weekly family Zoom. I could go on Grin

EishetChayil · 19/05/2021 13:51

The details of various pieces of cycling equipment and their functions. I have zero interest. It all sounds so boring!
