How expensive is Miller and Carter?

It's my 30th birthday next month and I'd like to go somewhere fancier than normal for a meal with DH. I looked on the website but they don't actually show prices (that I can see). Roughly what does an average meal for two cost at M&C? Neither of us tend to have starters so just a main, dessert and a drink or two each. I know everyones prices will differ but just a ballpark sort of figure...

It really depends what you have, I havent been for a while but I THINK a steak varies from £20-£50 depending on what you have and other dishes are between £13-£20ish! Desserts are around £6-£8 roughly 🤔

mermaidsariel · 18/05/2021 17:01

I’ve been once about 18 months ago. I thought it was very pricey and nothing great.

emmathedilemma · 18/05/2021 17:02

The prices are on their website, search for a specific restaurant and then view the menu.

Ginfilledcats · 18/05/2021 17:05

We used to go semi regular to M&C, but on a Thursday as they had a great offer. 3 courses and a drink £30'or something like that.

We went to a different one one Saturday and it was terrible! Food was absolutely nothing to write home about at best and at worst frozen/undercooked. Not been back since.

I'd check the reviews of your local one as I imagine they do differ like in our experience.

I'd recommend other steak chains like Cow Shed or Bem Brazille I think it may be called.or Gaucho, but that is expensive!

BiggerBoat1 · 18/05/2021 17:05

You need to select a specific restaurant to see their prices. I LOVE Miller and Carter!

Patapouf · 18/05/2021 17:07

It's like rip off harvester. The food isn't great I'm afraid

rjacksmiss · 18/05/2021 17:07

Probably about £120/£150 for a 3 course meal with drinks.

It's nice! The portions aren't massive though. The onion loaf is so good and also the lobster Mac and cheese!

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/05/2021 17:07

Too much for what it is.
Ask on your local FB group and see if you can find an independent steak restaurant.

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/05/2021 17:09

Which city are you in or near, I bet Netter have great reccs.

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/05/2021 17:09

Mnetters even!

Theweedonkeeey · 18/05/2021 17:10

I’ve got one near me and the website gives prices. I think the cheapest steak was around £16. They have a dress code which is quite frankly ridiculous for anything other than fine dining which it is nowhere near

BeneficiaryMadness · 18/05/2021 17:18

They have a dress code?? Grin delusions of grandeur much?

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/05/2021 17:32

Haha, dress code?
Nonsense.

ShirleyPhallus · 18/05/2021 17:32

Miller and Carter is like harvester for meat isn’t it?

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 18/05/2021 17:32

I’ve enjoyed it when I’ve been. It’s pretty relaxed in the day. Here is the evening menu with prices.

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/05/2021 17:33

The steak place I love in Glasgow is great and has no dress code.

Soontobe60 · 18/05/2021 17:35

I’d try to find an independent restaurant in your area that will give you better food for your money. Where do you live? Maybe someone could suggest somewhere.

changename7634 · 18/05/2021 17:38

I think we pay about £80 for a meal for 2, 2 courses (including fillet!) and one round of alcohol drinks, the rest soft. To be precise ha!

We really like it.

JustKeep · 18/05/2021 17:38

You need to select the specific restaurant then see the menu, they charge more in more affluent areas.

They got in trouble with the food quality people not long ago as they were serving some kind of lobster dish that was really mostly much cheaper fish.

Honestly you’re likely to get better food and better value at an independent place!

Camandmitch · 18/05/2021 17:39

I wouldn't say it's particularly fancy but the food at my local one is pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 18/05/2021 17:41

Aha! Thanks for the tip about the specific restaurant, found it! Dress code Confused

Dress code is smart casual, I love miller and Carter, they sometimes do set meals which work out cheaper, we normally do £150 for 3 courses and drinks but it’s a lovely treat and the staff are always lovely and food comes out quickly. Always nicer during the week as it’s not as busy.

GameSetMatch · 18/05/2021 17:49

Last time my husband and I went it was around £83 we had a sharing platter to start, can’t remember what main we had but it wasn’t steak and we had a pudding each. Two soft drinks each, we don’t drink.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 18/05/2021 17:53

I'm sure you can find something better than a Miller & Carter restaurant for your special occasion!

Palavah · 18/05/2021 17:54

Definitely have the onion loaf
