@LivinLaVidaLoki

NHS told to identify patients actually sick from Covid-19 separately to those testing positive

www.independent.co.uk/news/health/coronavirus-hospitals-nhs-england-data-b1862804.html

How the actual fuck are the govt only asking for this now???

They have been making policy decisions designed around protecting the nhs for 16 bloody months and at no point have asked for this before now. Holy fucking cow.

They should have done that from the start but it was obvious why they didn't as it looks more scary.
BellaintheWychElm · 10/06/2021 16:54

@LivinLaVidaLoki - wasn't going to raise my head over the parapet too much over there... but I am hoping this is a good sign that they are starting to change the narrative around high numbers in order to scare the masses into compliance to lower numbers so that we can get back to normal. Or maybe I'm too optimistic!! It will be interesting to see if the next step will be differentiating died from and of in the reporting of deaths.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 10/06/2021 16:56

Oh hi @BellaintheWychElm
Thanks for the article! And I agree sticking your head up over there will just get you shot

LivinLaVidaLoki · 10/06/2021 16:56

And I'm also hoping the same.

Two incidents on the Tube today involving police and masks.

Decent day here. Change of day for one of my fitness classes which balances up my week better. Stayed out and went to the supermarket to buy supplies for my youth group activity. First time I've really been in at a busy time since all this started. I'm coping better than I would have in the winter now the awkwardness of distancubg seems to have evaporated. Busy days where I get out of the house are much better.

Masks are definitely making me spend less. Cut my oem hair again today. There's things like eye tests that I need and am waiting to do.

My swab is clear. I'm virus-free... HPV that is Grin At least unlike me, they're not a Buy One Get One Free Wink

I woke up to media mutterings that 21st and the horribly named freedom day will be pushed back 4 weeks Angry

Then it will be pushed back again and again.

I’m surprised hospitality and concerts don’t just shut up shop and give up completely.

We have two outdoor festivals first two weekends of July and I’m now fairly certain they won’t happen, and I have no idea how the organisers will manage that as they won’t have been able to get cancellation/covid insurance.

The tiny crumb of optimism within me hopes I’m wrong but G7 is giving me really bad vibes.

WouldBeGood · 11/06/2021 09:00

@Worldgonecrazy it’s looking bleak

LivinLaVidaLoki · 11/06/2021 09:13

Anyone else hear Theresa May yesterday
"In a forthright intervention in the Commons, theformer prime ministersaid it is "incomprehensible" that the UK, which is "one of the most heavily vaccinated countries in the world", is the nation that is the "most reluctant to give its citizens the freedoms those vaccinations should support"

By the end of it I just wanted to stand up and applaud.

CruCru · 11/06/2021 09:27

I like Theresa May. She was treated very badly when she was PM.

BogRollBOGOF · 11/06/2021 09:38

She's not a great leader and had an unfortunate moment for being PM, I think most would have struggled with Brexit divisions and there were too many games of chicken between the Brexiteers willimg to be leader at that moment, but what I do respect is that she has the conviction to stick to her guns (even if I don't agree with her) and she does have a sense of public duty. Here she is as a back bencher occasionally speaking up when warented but not playing a game of egos over leadership. In that way she has integrity, and I respect the dignity of continuing in politics after a bloody awful few years at the top and embarassing end of office when most would have skulked off for a far more lucrative gravy train.

I've also heard Gordon Brown on the radio this week talking a lot of sense about the G7. Again, another second term leader facing shit hitting the fan. I think he's underrated. While he was Chancellor contributing to our credit load, the crunch was international not just through UK policy and at that point he steered us through in a better position than many other European nations.

I don't have to fully agree with people to respect them.

I think Theresa May was a victim of the glass cliff. It’s allied to the glass ceiling and is where men know how impossible the job is going to be so give it to a woman.

It was just two women in the running wasn't it.

It feels like ancient history now Blush

According to Adam Brooks there is a demo planned for Monday outside Downing Street.

Pleasenomoreglitter · 11/06/2021 17:59

Anyone braved shops recently and seen if any more changing rooms have opened? Need to take dd shopping for first proper bras and really that needs lots of trying on to get it right. Have already prepped her we might end up buying, going to toilets to try on then returning what doesn't fit. What a rubbish experience though for her!

Probably worth getting a tape measure out first to reduce guesswork.

I've not been anywhere other than Decathlon. Not been to the big shopping centre in town since 23rd July. No need/ desire to go clothes shopping and there's a lot of clothes I've barely worn in all this time so it's quite novel pulling them out for glamourous social events like the dentist or smear tests Wink

I have actually seen signs outside Mark's and Spencer's advertising contact less bra measuring service, no idea how that is supposed to work!
Evenstar · 11/06/2021 20:34

I haven’t been to the shops much and definitely not clothes shopping. I have bought a few items online this week as I am having my foot surgery on 23 June, and needed a loose nightie or two to save getting PJ’s over my foot, and random things like a waterproof dressing protector. I couldn’t face trawling the shops and making my hands raw with hand sanitizer for the bits and pieces I needed, and then probably being told they weren’t available “because of COVID”

I feel encouraged that the NHS seems to be getting going again, I was only put on the waiting list for surgery in March having waited for the initial appointment since last July.

I had a hospital appointment this afternoon and it was no problem at all not wearing a mask, so that was better.

Pleasenomoreglitter · 11/06/2021 21:32

I've done the home measuring so we have an idea. We'll have to try our luck and see if any are open!

MercyBooth · 11/06/2021 22:43

Last time i wore a bra was on 19th December. The day "Cromwell" cancelled Christmas.
Not worn one since which means when i fell over three weeks ago a few people got an eyeful.

Im afraid my attitude is that lockdowns have consequences. They didnt think of bra fittings at all. So i couldnt give a shit who sees my unpert norks. Tough shit.

I took DD to M&S for her first bra a few weeks ago. We had to book in, wear masks, sanitise etc but other than that it was like a normal bra fitting. The assistant couldn't adjust the straps so I was asked to do that.
NannyGythaOgg · 12/06/2021 00:12

M&S are pretty crap at bra measuring at the best of times. They would probably do a better job if they didn't have a tape measure I suspect.

Their measurements give me a band size that I can pull over my substantial boobs - and once in position a bulge below the band, above the cup AND under my arm.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 12/06/2021 08:07

I've a few sun dresses I love wearing overseas but two of them need a new zip and one needs taking in. I should really take them to get done about now but I can't bring myself to do it as it'll feel like a kick in the teeth if I then don't get to wear them.

I'm being ridiculous aren't I?

LivinLaVidaLoki · 12/06/2021 08:16

Also getting irrationally fucked off at the news. Do journalists not question anything anymore?

Some random virologist on BBC breakfast talking about the Delta variant and how we are all doomed. That the nhs will be overwhelmed shortly.

So why did no one ask him why his view is in direct contradiction to the views of the head of the nhs and other scientists?

And he banged on about hospital admissions doubling every 7 days but again the nhs guy said that these people don't need intensive care or support, are often in-treated-out so the impact on the nhs is a lot less than previously.

This is all stuff that has been in the public for the last week but no, they let him carry on unquestioned about how we are all totally fucked. Then plug his podcast.

Worldgonecrazy · 12/06/2021 08:52

Not sure if it works for young growing boobs, but I used the mumsnet bra measuring method. Measure under the bust, this is your band size, no adding whatever if it’s odd or even. Lean forward and measure around the boobs. The difference is your cup size.

Bras will feel tight for a few days but I get a much better fit using this method.

Might be worth a try.
