Guess the year by what your childhood bedroom was like

I was having a discussion earlier with friends how you can identity which era and quite possibly the year by describing what your child hood bedroom was like.

Naming which posters were on your wall makes it far too easy!

For example, when I was 8 my bedroom was lime green and bright orange. I had a tape recorder in one corner and a tv with a dodgy ariel in the other. My furniture was all pine and I had a cork board on the wall - what year was this?

My bedroom was wall to wall sellotaped up pictures from Jackie magazine of T-Rex, David Cassidy, The Osmands, Suzie Quatro.

What year?

skylarkdescending · 14/05/2021 22:07

Sounds similar to mine OP. I'm guessing you were born mid 80's. Were you 8 in 1994?

EversoDelighted · 14/05/2021 22:12

Sounds like mine except no telly, late 70s / early 80s.

Saz12 · 14/05/2021 22:17

OP, 1978.
the night sky - I’m guessing 1960.

Sounds a bit Habitat, I'd say 1980.
Wowcherarestalkingme · 14/05/2021 22:20

Green and orange was all the rage in clothes when I was about ten so I’d guess 1992

Dugi3 · 14/05/2021 22:21

That is my exact childhood bedroom, complete with lime green carpet and yellow wall clock! Pine dressing table that was far too big for the room, the cork board full of cut outs from smash hits and the tape recorder set primed to record off the chart show, praying they didnt talk over your favourite track!.....born 1989!

Wouldlovetobeinthesun · 14/05/2021 22:22

I had Pierrot bedding and curtains.

Dugi3 · 14/05/2021 22:23

O and said dodgy ariel tv precariously perched on a corner tv bracket at a dodgy angle, upgraded to a video tv combi

Yoyooo · 14/05/2021 22:24

Wow no one is completely right yet - another clue - I had a blow up chair and a blow up alien looking out of the window in an attempt to scare passers by.

University room I had inflatable chair, CD player, computer, lava lamp and HMV posters.
Childhood bedroom - care bear covers

Wowcherarestalkingme · 14/05/2021 22:26

Hmm I had a blow up chair too. Maybe I’ll up my guess to 1995

WellTidy · 14/05/2021 22:26

Light grey, white, peach and light blue geometric pattern matching duvet cover, valance and curtains.

White and light grey flat pack furniture from MFI.

‘Time cube’ digital alarm clock. Definitely Argos.

White desk lamp as a bedside lamp, with a flexible, bendy arm. Probably BHS.

I have a feeling this might be the same year. When I was 8 CDs were around but we still used tapes a lot as we could record on them

1998?
Notashandyta · 14/05/2021 22:28

Posters of Jason and Kylie everywhere Shock

Daisy829 · 14/05/2021 22:28

I had a garfield with suckers on its paws on my windows my gift for passing the 11plus! I also had a Phillip Schofield poster on my wall. Poor judgement on my part.

Oh my god you are describing my bedroom. I painted the ceiling in pastel circles using tester pots. It looked awful as I never finished it.
Yoyooo · 14/05/2021 22:29

Miss Contrued - Bingo!

Moonlaserbearwolf · 14/05/2021 22:29

You could be describing my teenage bedroom OP. Blow up chairs were all the rage in about 1996/7 so I’d guess mid to late 90s.

UhtredRagnarson · 14/05/2021 22:30

Late 90’s for you OP?

ConfusedAsWell · 14/05/2021 22:31

I had a Sarah Kay duvet cover and matching curtains.

Moonlaserbearwolf · 14/05/2021 22:31

I also had a blow up see-through backpack. I loved it so much!!

Donitta · 14/05/2021 22:32

At age 12 I had white anaglypta wallpaper on the bottom half of my bedroom walls and pink flowery paper on the top half, with a paper border along the middle. White MDF furniture and mirrored wardrobes. Lots of dream catchers and incense sticks, pewter dragons from new age shops, and a big cork board with my astrology chart on it.
