What to do with whole wet boring lockdown day ahead?!

Had a full day of walking planned, with a walking group. Up at 6, bag packed, waterproofs on - then it was cancelled because of the bloody awful weather!
Instead of a day out , somewhere different , meeting new people, it's another day at home, with nothing to do except work & housework, with DH, who was looking forward to a day home alone ☺️! We are in UK, still partially locked down, so the only thing to do is go out for brunch, sitting outside, freezing, in the rain. Or sit in watching whatever few scraps of Netflix that we can find that we haven't already watched?

Annoying isn't it. I'll probably do some baking. Eat and drink. Basically the opposite of what I want to do which is go out and play sport. Will force myself to do workout video shortly.

Solasum · 08/05/2021 08:05

You have waterproofs. Go for a walk anyway, pick up cake on the way home. You will feel exercised and virtuous

Mintjulia · 08/05/2021 08:09

Today, I'll food shop, make a lemon drizzle cake and some turkey chilli burgers, browse some sites for summer clothes, and go for a walk in the rain. In waterproof and wellies. Grin
Then move things from green house to cold frame and finally soak in a bath.

Wildswimming3 · 08/05/2021 08:09

Would someone from the group still be up for a walk? For another time there is group called walk my dog where you borrow a dog to walk. You may have your own though! Can recommend the killing on bbc4 iPlayer if you fancy a binge watch.

hamstersarse · 08/05/2021 08:13

I wanted to go out on my bike but that definitely isn’t happening.
Think I’m gonna get wrapped up and go walking.

Sometimes it’s exhilarating to walk in the rain....once you reach the ‘fuck it, I’m wet’ moment, you relax and splash through all the puddles, let your face feel the rain....and the getting warm again at the end can be pure bliss

Cattitudes · 08/05/2021 08:14

We are doing garden centre for coffee then home and some baking. Might do some work because with flexible working if I do it now I can take time off on a sunny day.

Terrazzo · 08/05/2021 08:14

Still go for a walk! :)
Do a craft
Do a workout on youtube
Read a book
Movie with popcorn/snacks
Do a house project that has been lingering
Phone a friend

HollyHocks13 · 08/05/2021 08:16

I'm going to force myself to go out for a run in the rain then I plan to have a lazy day of pottering and snoozing!

Cardboardeaux · 08/05/2021 08:18

Thank your lucky stars you're not having to entertain a toddler today WinkGrin

KeyboardWorriers · 08/05/2021 08:24

I would go for a long walk in the rain.
Then a long bath to warm up.

Then a trip to my favourite bookshop to buy a book and spend the rest of the day reading it!

ScouseQueen · 08/05/2021 08:24

It is frustrating. Some good ideas here. Reading, doing an online workout, contacting the walking group to rearrange the day and maybe chatting with them?

Camomila · 08/05/2021 08:25

I'm quite looking forward to cleaning this weekend Blush DH had a job interview and DS2 had a temperature/cold this week and the flat got away from us. Looking forward to restoring calm.

TuesdayRuby · 08/05/2021 08:25

My DD has a dance class this morning. Back home for a lunch and a movie, then I’ve booked swimming at our local leisure centre for later on.
If I didn’t have the dance class I’d take them to the supermarket for a leisurely browse and a treat of their choice.
Roll on 17th May!

BakewellGin1 · 08/05/2021 08:27

Waterproofs for us today...
Older DS has a football match so myself and youngest are spending an hour or two playing outside Hmm
Then a food shop...
And an afternoon of baths, spot of cleaning and movies with goodies and hot chocolates

In your shoes I would still go for a walk out then have a hot bath followed by cake and coffee Grin

Heatingsystemwoes · 08/05/2021 08:29

I feel the same OP! I had a trip planned to a NT park and it’s tipping it down. Fierce wind and occasionally hailstorms.
I’m fed up. I could drive out to the huge shopping centre but I don’t want to shop.
I’m fed up of housework, reading, watching films...
I want to visit friends or family on a day like this or invite them over for a meal!

QueenZoopla · 08/05/2021 08:30

Hi all SmileHa ha Cardboardeaux definitely very grateful we haven't got any kids to entertain.
It's not the relentless rain that puts me off going for a local walk, it's the utter boredom - after lockdown I never ever want to go for another walk round where I live !!
DH is now suggesting we go out together to buy a new toilet seat - this day's getting worse by the hour 😂!

Don’t go for a walk in this weather. We’ve had a whole year of that!

I’d have a nice bath with a book then go to a shopping centre where it’s dry and have a good browse then stop for a takeaway coffee and cake. Once you’ve spent a few hours out of the house it will be nicer to come home and potter or watch Netflix. You could buy a new puzzle or craft whilst out shopping to do when you get home.

drspouse · 08/05/2021 08:33

Yep, I've got two DCs, one with ADHD. I have no idea. I might persuade one of them to go to the shops but the other one will be glued to the TV but then get really hyper due to lack of exercise.

TuesdayRuby · 08/05/2021 08:33

Oh @QueenZoopla didn’t realise it was a kid free day. You lucky thing!
Are spas/leisure centres open in your area? If I had a free day I’d book myself in for a facial and a lovely swim Grin

QueenZoopla · 08/05/2021 08:34

Wildswimming funnily enough the Killing is on my list for the next binge - perhaps today's the day!

TheChosenTwo · 08/05/2021 08:36

😂 a new toilet seat! What a lovely trip out!
I’ve braved the torrential downpour for a run this morning, was soaked to the bone before I made it out of my road. Lovely to get home to a hot shower though.
Dh is making us all a cooked breakfast in a bit, it’s a good way to entice the teens out of bed at a reasonable hour. The youngest is 9, he’s looking forward to playing some board games ( I on the other hand am not Grin ). I think I might take him to the bookshop this afternoon, he could do with a little refresh on his shelves and I’m always up for new books.
Was supposed to be going to sit in my mum’s garden with the kids this afternoon. We may still do that, the rain here is meant to stop - it’s still going to be bloody freezing but I’m done with days of us all just sitting around in our house looking at the same faces!

Woodlandbelle · 08/05/2021 08:36

I'm a bit broke at the moment (too much online shopping)
So dc have sports this morning. I will have a bath. Then wash floors. Make a curry.
Easy sort of day. I have a small bit of work to do.

KateTheEighth · 08/05/2021 08:37

I'm going out for a long walk with a podcast to keep me company (maybe a R4 drama or two). That way I get to listen without being disturbed by anyone.

AcornCups · 08/05/2021 08:38

II’m going to finish off a shadow box display case I am making. Go through my t.shirts as it’s annual go through clothes time and will do some every day till it’s done. Ring my sisters, watch a box set with DH.

We had a forest walk planned but it’s really bucketing it down.

QueenZoopla · 08/05/2021 08:40

TuesdayRuby yes child free 💃(and we do realise how lucky we are in the scheme of things, of course!)
