What to do with whole wet boring lockdown day ahead?!

Had a full day of walking planned, with a walking group. Up at 6, bag packed, waterproofs on - then it was cancelled because of the bloody awful weather!
Instead of a day out , somewhere different , meeting new people, it's another day at home, with nothing to do except work & housework, with DH, who was looking forward to a day home alone ☺️! We are in UK, still partially locked down, so the only thing to do is go out for brunch, sitting outside, freezing, in the rain. Or sit in watching whatever few scraps of Netflix that we can find that we haven't already watched?

Do you seriously have ZERO hobbies or things that you enjoy that isn't walking?

Hazel444 · 08/05/2021 10:03

Pretty gloomy here today too. We've had a playground playdate cancelled so just watching Duggee and trying to decide what to do today.

If it was a child-free day though, I would just go back to bed with my kindle I think then have a really long bubble bath later. Sorry your walk got cancelled OP - where were you planning to go? Toilet seat buying is not a good substitute for a lovely walk with good company!

Did the OP say that? No. She’s disappointed that the thing she was looking forward to has been called off and would rather be doing that than anything else.

I'm just v grateful the kids are at their dad's. Lots of sitting, tea drinking and possibly sewing (I'm learning).

Love all these replies (or most of them, anyway 😉!)
Amdone123 what book are you reading? I've got a book atm that I'm enjoying so I'll have a session with that today- it's good but a bit grim, and the weather kind of suits it! Shuggie Bain.
We braved the rain & sat out for brunch.( Ordered orange juice, came with ice 🥶, not required LOL)
Don't want to do cleaning / washing today, so ... bath..reading..film (and count our blessings)

OP whatever you do, DON'T be tempted to go to IKEA! Our local one was so busy last week there was a 3 hour queue to leave the car park!

JustAddCoffee91 · 08/05/2021 10:50

Haha I'm going to clean up toys on repeat until 7pm 😂😂

JustAddCoffee91 · 08/05/2021 10:54

But... if I had the day to myself I'd be going for a swim, or primark (not been since last year) and just spend money on shit I absolutely don't need... and then home, nice bath and Netflix binge, sounds like bliss!
... ohh and probably a cheeky Chinese 😀

Amdone123 · 08/05/2021 10:55

@QueenZoopla, Behind Closed Doors, BA Paris. It's really good. It's a long time since I read a book I couldn't put down. I've just finished Jeffrey Archer's Prison Diaries which I enjoyed, but this book is a different level, and of course, genre.

I would go to the local florists or M&S and buy myself some flowers and a gardening magazine. Quite a lot of flowers, ideally, and put them in lots of vases in different rooms. And then I’d light some candles, so the house looked and smelled lovely. And make a huge hot chocolate. And have my hot chocolate and magazine. And then I’d have a long bath with loads of bubbles and exfoliate and do a hair treatment and then lots of body oil. And a takeaway.

Not Lockdown-possible things I'll do today:

Swim session.
It's pretty mediocre, but all I got!!

Visionoffspring · 08/05/2021 11:29

Everybody will go to a supermarket. Whether dressed up as part of other ‘lovely blissful’ plans or honestly, as a main activity with the family.

@Visionoffspring I've been stuck inside with 2 toddlers... it is bliss (on my own) 😂😂

SeventyEleven · 08/05/2021 12:51

@CornishTiger they are teenagers now. Currently cookies in oven. I’d have preferred cake but I’m not complaining! They could do unsupervised baking from probably around age 9/10. I think I used to do the oven then though. We very rarely baked when they were young as I hated the mess so much.

murbblurb · 08/05/2021 13:05

you don't have to do 'walks from the door'. It is raining but you aren't made of sugar.

although I'm taking the chance to do some badly overdue decluttering and dusting. Even with a year at home there's still more...
