What to do with whole wet boring lockdown day ahead?!

QueenZoopla · 08/05/2021 08:01

Had a full day of walking planned, with a walking group. Up at 6, bag packed, waterproofs on - then it was cancelled because of the bloody awful weather!
Instead of a day out , somewhere different , meeting new people, it's another day at home, with nothing to do except work & housework, with DH, who was looking forward to a day home alone ☺️! We are in UK, still partially locked down, so the only thing to do is go out for brunch, sitting outside, freezing, in the rain. Or sit in watching whatever few scraps of Netflix that we can find that we haven't already watched?

OP posts:

A bit of sewing here, a new lock down hobby for me.

A long bath with all the hair treatments.

Might brave a walk anyway

I like the pop corn and film idea

Cowbells · 08/05/2021 08:45

Sorry your walk was cancelled OP.

I would spend half the day researching holidays in detail - down to which restaurants to eat at, hikes to go on, prices etc and put all the details on file. Then I'd probably do some baking.

Frequentflier · 08/05/2021 08:48

Make enchiladas
Wash my hair
Tidy the living room
Attempt to go for a walk
Watch some comforting TV

RubyFowler · 08/05/2021 08:51

I'd go shopping. I need new clothes and consider shopping a pleasant pass time. You may not though.

RubyFowler · 08/05/2021 08:52

A lot of these other ideas are no different to what we've all been doing since forever! I think OP was looking forward to something different.

ElphabaTWitch · 08/05/2021 08:53

I’m gardening. I’m planting in the garden come
Rain hail sleet or shine. As it’s Scotland I’ll probably get all 4.

Well what else do you expect?! Got any novel suggestions yourself?!
RubyFowler · 08/05/2021 08:54

Yes, go shopping like I suggested!

wantmorenow · 08/05/2021 08:54

Gyms and pools are open😁

RubyFowler · 08/05/2021 08:55

Although I also acknowledged that might not be OPs Cup of tea

Schrutesbeets · 08/05/2021 08:55

My plan is to clean this morning, then get out in the rain with the kids, do a bit of food shopping, then I've promised DD we can do a "fashion show" - she can try and my clothes and put make up on, then we'll probably watch a film and eat cake!

YorkiePanda · 08/05/2021 08:55

I’m off to the gym, mine has a swimming pool and spa/sauna for afterwards that are open. My gym also does day passes for non members, there’s an app you can get called Hussle that you can get day passes for local gyms, I don’t know where you live but this might be a way to do something active?

garlictwist · 08/05/2021 08:57

I've just been for a very wet run. Not going to lie it was quite unpleasant but better than walking in it.

Going to read for a few hours then head to the bouldering wall which is the only indoor activity possible at the moment!

Herbie0987 · 08/05/2021 08:57

We were thrilled this week we visited a Farm shop, today is finishing the scanning of all our photos.

SeventyEleven · 08/05/2021 09:00

I’m going to sit around doing nothing. A bit of fun cleaning. Running some washing later. Might eat a lot. Might get one of the kids to bake so I can eat cake!

Amdone123 · 08/05/2021 09:01

I was going to say still go for a walk, but I think pp is right - we've done enough walking. I'm not doing any housework, I'll do it tomorrow. I'm going to have a bath ( got some treatments to do ), read my book ( I can't put it down, but it's very scary) and eat rubbish.

Op, could you go shopping? At least it gets you out of the house for a bit.

That's what I'm trying to psych up to do. Soggy running is superior to soggy walking as it's half the time, you keep yourself warmer and you accept the wetness, whereas walking is trying to hold back the wet until the waterproofs inevitably fail or build up the condensation so you're wet anyway.

I'm not watering the plants anyway Grin

AbsolutelyPatsy · 08/05/2021 09:07

go far away for a walk?

BerniesMittens · 08/05/2021 09:12

Take a break from gardening! We've spent the last few weeks cutting back brambles, digging veggie patches, planting potatoes and onions, removing pondweed and dead goosegrass so I'm looking forward to a day where I don't grab the secateurs as I go into the garden!

Might even do a spot of sewing or crochet. Smile

BitchIAmFromChicago · 08/05/2021 09:15

Our local ice cream cafe have converted a barn into a seating area. Me and DH will hide under there with an ice cream and 4 year old DS can go for a play if he feels brave enough!

Doghead · 08/05/2021 09:23

Detox your wardrobe. Have a hot bath and pamper yourself then watch a nice film on your own. I really don't see the issue here.

bendmeoverbackwards · 08/05/2021 09:42

Shopping! Shops have recently reopened so that’s a novelty. Maybe proceed the trip with a wardrobe clear out to see what you need to buy. List unworn things on eBay. Have a good browse in your local shopping centre, buy some new books to read, takeaway coffee.

bendmeoverbackwards · 08/05/2021 09:43

Or how about a drive in movie if you have one near you?

CornishTiger · 08/05/2021 09:46

Yuk here too.

DH will take children to visit his mum as we are her bubble. I normally go but am not today.

Have two food shops to do. Big one Aldi and other things needed Asda. Present required for a friend.

I have a job application to do and an assignment to start. Am in no doubt what I’ll do is housework to dodge doing that.

Pizza and chill out type tea with the children. Might even do posh hot chocs.

@SeventyEleven how old are the children so they can bake a cake unsupervised. This is a goal of mine!
