Hi – I’ve got a bit bored with my podcast selection. Can anyone help me with something fresh? I love listening to podcasts while I do the housework or go out for a run. My favourite to date have been the Michelle Obama series, Americast, Reasons to be cheerful, this American life and I sometimes find a good Ted Talk.

Can anyone suggest something new? I’d quite like to get stuck into something, but can’t really find anything at the moment – all just seems to be endless interviews and I’m getting a bit bored with that format.

Thank you thank you!

I love shagged, married, annoyed by Chris and Rosie Ramsey. It's hilarious. I listen every week while I do housework.

OhWhyNot · 08/05/2021 11:21

I really enjoy You’re Wrong About

It looks at different scenarios and how they were reported in or not reported in the press and how that influences our understanding

It’s very interesting funny and shocking at times

I listen to shagged, married, annoyed each week, but also really like an investigative series.
So the first two seasons of Serial, The Dropout, Missing Cryptoqueen, The immaculate deception, I’m not a monster, Death in ice valley, Fake Heiress, Where’s George Gibney, Who the hell is Hamish, The Teacher’s pet,
Also currently listening to The Lazarus Heist.

I used to enjoy My Dad Wrote a Porno, which is very funny. But I did get bored after the first few series.
If I get time I might listen to Pod save the world, which is a weekly international politics podcast.

Katherine Ryan - Telling Everybody Everything
Jordan North & William Hanson - Help I've Sexted My Boss
James Acaster & Ed Gamble - Off Menu

SquashMinusIsShit · 08/05/2021 12:26

If you like true crime I'd recommend:
They walk among us
Sinisterhood
The teacher's pet

Non true crime: what a creep

All very cheery 🤣

Help I Sexted My Boss is hilarious - I look forward to listening to it each week!

If you’re a fan Of sexy and the city then the series within a series of Sentimental Garbage SATC is very good.

The Adam Buxton podcast

Dear Joan and Jericha (rude!)

Sandra- futuristic mini series.

I like most things Gimlet produce.

Also liked Even the Rich.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 08/05/2021 12:38

60 songs that define the 90s. The guy has the best voice ever.

ItsFriyay · 08/05/2021 12:40

Lazarus Heist about the North Korean hack o Sony is really good. Three episodes so far on Bbc sounds.

Louis Theroux’s grounded also on bbc sounds, really enjoyed this series too.

DenisetheMenace · 08/05/2021 12:41

Try “Meet David Sedaris” and “The Briefing Room”

OhWhyNot · 08/05/2021 12:42

Oh yes David Sedaris is hilarious I’ve all his books in audio

raskolnikova · 08/05/2021 12:42

If you like This American Life you might like Heavyweight. It's about people fixing things that have been bothering them. Go back to the earlier episodes.

I also like You're Wrong About.

NotFrozen · 08/05/2021 12:44

Great thread, thank you OP. I enjoyed West Cork recently, another true crime one. Some of the Heavyweight episodes are hilarious and heartbreaking/ heartwarming. I just started listening to Think In with James Harding. I also enjoyed the Fortunately series with Jane Garvey.

raskolnikova · 08/05/2021 12:46

Oh and also now I've checked:

The Moth

Ear Hustle

Hidden Brain

NotFrozen · 08/05/2021 12:48

How to Fail by Elizabeth Day has some good episodes too

Letsgetreadytocrumble · 08/05/2021 12:50

I have never found a podcast as good as My Dad Wrote a Porno.

Gloomandglow · 08/05/2021 12:52

Redhanded is good for true crime

I've just finished listening to Root of evil podcast and my mind is blown.

Letsgetreadytocrumble · 08/05/2021 12:58

I do also really like Casefile for true crime.

Ducksarenotmyfriends · 08/05/2021 12:59

Behind the Bastards. Love the ones on Stalin, Steven Seagal and Zuckerberg

SiliconHeaven · 08/05/2021 13:02

My favourites are Cautionary Tales and The Last Archive, I don’t enjoy a lot of the ‘trying too hard to be funny’ ‘casts.
I also recommend You’re Dead to me, mentioned above.

KateKeeper · 08/05/2021 13:05

I've found all my favourite podcasts from these threads.
My contribution is 'Older and Wider'.
I've just followed Help I've Texted My Boss.

TankGirl97 · 08/05/2021 13:05

Based on what you've enjoyed before, I'd recommend Stay Tuned With Preet. He's an ex district attorney in New York (fired by Trump) who does a topical podcast discussing legal topics. Latest episode is about Derek Chauvin. He also did Doing Justice podcast based on chapters of his book. Really interesting and he has a lovely voice!
