You book a quick trim, you get a quick trim

Someone I know have just had a quite a drastic change of hairstyle, let’s say going from shoulder length to pixie type of hairstyle. When it came up in a conversation she’s said that she booked for a quick trim but changed her mind the day before the appointment. Claims the hairdresser didn’t mind and just charged for a proper cut.
I thought it a bit rude, also a proper cut takes longer than a trim, other clients might have to wait etc. She sees no problem... Am I overreacting?
A first world problem, I know.

If this isn't a wind up then it's a huge overreaction! The hairdresser obviously didn't think it was a problem so no one has done anything wrong. It's nothing to do with you and makes zero difference to your life 😂

I'm sure if the hairdresser couldn't accommodate your friend, they would have said so.

@Tofflee

I’m also the person who gets annoyed if someone at the bank or post office takes forever discussing various problems and options while the line is forming. A bit of respect to other humans. Judge me if you want!
What is the alternative? Should they resolve one problem then go to the back of the queue to go again?

I was kept waiting an hour last week as someone added a cut to their colour (long thick hair). I was just sitting in my car like an idiot. I was not impressed.

The hairdresser did knock some money off due to how long I'd waited though.

Curiousendeavours · 07/05/2021 08:21

Could it be that your friend looks absolutely amazing in her new cut and you're just jealous OP?

Atalantea · 07/05/2021 08:22

@Tofflee

It would definitely annoy me if I was the hairdresser. No, not really a problem. Different people, different opinions.
Hairdresser probably did not have another appointment after friend, and would most likely be happy with the extra work.

If she didn't have time, she would have not done it???

your hairdresser needs to be more assertive if she doesnt have the time. Mine would be.
Anonmousse · 07/05/2021 08:36

Most hairdressers I go to have a price for cut and blowdry without specifying how much you want off.
It may (and I'm not a hairdresser so stand to be corrected) not have taken much longer than what she originally wanted? Sure it would take longer to cut from shoulder length to pixie cut but probably half the time to blow dry? Thus no extra time needed....

This is quite frustrating but I usually blame the bank for cutting staff numbers, and opening hours and pretending everything can be done online when it very clearly cant. No one goes to have a 20 min chat about bank/post office stuff for fun!

That's a problem with the hairdresser, not the client.
Going from a colour only appointment to cut and colour was obviously a substantial time difference.

chatw00 · 07/05/2021 09:43

Presumably the hair dresser had space in her appointment list, otherwise she'd have said I've got other clients after you, but come back later at .

Is it allowed to be that simple?

midsomermurderess · 07/05/2021 15:46

4 pages off the back of a brain fart. It's daft.

SmileyClare · 07/05/2021 15:54

Some funny answers Grin

I'd say she was making one of those throwaway comments that aren't true, perhaps because of the fuss people are making when noticing her drastic change. It's a way to brush it off.

A bit like Wow lovely dress! Oh this old thing, I just grabbed the first thing in my wardrobe!

Wow your hair! What made you go for a pixie cut? Oh it's nothing, I was just going for a trim and thought why not.

It's a form of self deprecation.
