Interested to hear peoples opinions as opposed to the ever reliable tabloids 🙄

Afraid to think about it, TBH.

Kate3150 · 06/05/2021 16:06

@FinallyFluid- we have a holiday booked and obviously tomorrow will be make or break. Would just be nice to know I suppose but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a delay 🙄.
Feel sorry for people with family abroad x

We have a holiday booked, I booked it last April when we couldn't perceive of this enduring, we booked the flights in July when things looked like they were improving.

BA will give us vouchers and the holiday is 100% insured, but I just want to go awayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

EssentialHummus · 06/05/2021 16:09

I vote Israel for green, which is brilliant for me but unlikely to rock anyone else’s boat.

SerafinaPekkala · 06/05/2021 16:11

Oh I can't wait to know - I work in a red list country at the moment so getting home for the summer is going to be a nightmare. I still wont be able to book anything until 3 weeks before I'm due to fly but at least I can start working out some possible plans.

Kate3150 · 06/05/2021 16:19

I’m confused at the travel advice that was changed earlier this week by the FCDO? The places they’ve said are “safe” to travel, surely they’ll be green? X

The Greek islands and the canaries have already quietly been declared green which I'm delighted about as I am off there for a week in July.

Kate3150 · 06/05/2021 16:22

So the places they have quietly changed advice for will be green? I’m not sure that’s a dead ceart x

springnamechange · 06/05/2021 16:24

@EssentialHummus can't think of anywhere I'd rather be on holiday. Can't wait to get back again Smile

Kyph · 06/05/2021 16:30

They have removed the advice against travel. That's not a dead cert for green.

Kate3150 · 06/05/2021 18:02

@Kyph- I’m confused by it all 😂. I read too many crappy papers x

Justfivemoreminutesplease · 06/05/2021 18:05

Is it coming out tomorrow? I thought it was the 17th.
And I can’t imagine it will then be set in stone for the whole summer. I would hope that further countries would be added over the next few weeks and even months, but once on, on and not taken off like last summer.

Kate3150 · 06/05/2021 18:12

@Justfivemoreminutesplease- yes suppose to be. Just weird how they’ve changed the travel advice for some places, I don’t understand it all x

I think Malta will be, possibly Cyprus, and certainly some of the Greek islands. A couple of the islands in the West Indies no doubt.

Perhaps worth finding out where the cabinet and Tory donors like to go.

Maybe Jersey before the war with France!!!

minniemomo · 06/05/2021 18:26

Hoping for Mallorca to be green, really fancying a trip there since watching The Mallorca Files on iPlayer Grin. Found the flights and hotel, just need to not have to isolate!

cooperage · 06/05/2021 18:31

I reckon Spain and France and most of the rest of Europe will be amber. Their covid rates are still miles higher than ours, but by July they'll be declared green.

Kate3150 · 06/05/2021 18:32

Wonder if Spain and France might even be red? I’m still confused about the advice “quietly leaked” at the start of the week x

OP posts:
Kate3150 · 06/05/2021 18:58

I still have a feeling the whole thing will be delayed 🙄

OP posts:
AndAllOurYesterdays · 06/05/2021 19:12

I think it will be delayed too. They normally trail these things first

Arbadacarba · 06/05/2021 19:14

I thought this was going to be about election results Blush.

FrenchFancie · 06/05/2021 19:21

I very much doubt it will be Cyprus! We have the worst rate of infections in the whole of Europe at the moment (and I say this as an expat desperate to come home to see family! I’ve seen none of my family for over 18 months now and it’s killing me.....)

Kyph · 06/05/2021 19:29

Shame about that, I'd love to visit Cyprus this year.I read that there is a lot of reluctance to have vaccines in Cyprus, is there any truth in that?
Montsti · 06/05/2021 19:40

Unfortunately I’m pretty certain that South Africa, where I live with my husband and 4 young children will be on the red list🥲. I haven’t seen my parents for 15 months and my sister and friends for nearly 2 years...it’s probably going to be another year at best as things stand🥲🥲.

littledrummergirl · 06/05/2021 20:28

It will be interesting to see where Turkey is as two English football teams are heading to Istanbul to kick a football around. They want 4000 people to travel at watch.

Kate3150 · 06/05/2021 20:42

I think the government will want to tread real carefully. I have a feeling it may only be 4 or 5 places that are green. Then they’ll review every few weeks...
