Mourning food from your childhood that you can’t get anymore

I’m 10 weeks pregnant and having some very random cravings, unfortunately for stuff it’s impossible to get my hands on now! Specifically Birds Eye boil-in-the-bag chicken and mushroom casserole, Sainsbury’s cucumber relish, and Gino Ginelli tutti frutti ice cream.

Anyone else grieving for the amazing food of their youth that is now a distant memory?

Frozen mousses
Individual wrapped cherry flavour sweets that came in a roll, anyone know what they were called?!

Principessa2070 · 04/05/2021 19:30

Bachelor's used to do a Bolognese flavoured pasta bake. I miss that.

Not a day goes by that I don't miss ricicles. Putting sugar on rice Krispies just isn't the same 🤣

Christmaspuddingsteaminghot · 04/05/2021 19:30

Fiendish feet!

Principessa2070 · 04/05/2021 19:31

That's them! They were so good, they need to be brought back along with
Pyramints
Coconut Boost
Cadbury's Marble bar
Potato puffs
Romany biscuits
And loads more things I have forgotten. This thread has brought back some amazing memories of food!

Lipsandlashes · 04/05/2021 19:34

@DialSquare

I think I was thinking of these when I said the rectangular ones sounded familiar *@Twenty2*
Get yourself to the Irish section of the supermarket. Bolands Jam Mallows. My MiL always has a packet

@SilverGlassHare

M&S triple toffee delights. And their Deltas.
Someone else remembers Deltas from M&S! No one ever does.

They were amazing. It's probably 30 years since they disappeared and I still miss them. They remind me of my very first job, buying lunch in m&s and feeling very grown up.

Longingforatikihut · 04/05/2021 19:34

Burton's potato puffs. I'll never get over the heartbreak

SirDidymus · 04/05/2021 19:35

The loss of all that sugar and those e-numbers in children's foods has really ruined it! Grin

Shergill15 · 04/05/2021 19:39

@niceberg

Oatcakes in Lancashire where all my relatives lived. They were floppy (somewhere between a crepe and an American pancake), smooth one side and with rolled oats or maybe oat bran on the other. I used to love them rolled up with syrup. Never seen them anywhere since I was a child.
Do you mean Staffordshire oatcakes? You can buy them in Tesco if so.

Grew up in another county and miss the type of custard and liquorice type sweets . I can buy the sweets on Amazon, but not the custard.

PurpleSplodge · 04/05/2021 19:50

Pot rice! Hate pot noodles but loved the rice!

Chalcroft · 04/05/2021 19:52

Dandelion and Burdock from the pop man

Jamestheleast · 04/05/2021 19:54

Panda Pops, the bright blue strawberry flavour, kids loved it. I liked the cola.

hitsvilleuk · 04/05/2021 19:54

What was the pudding in a tin that was sort of syrupy - you mixed it with a canful of cold milk and it instantly became a kind of blancmange
Lots of fruit flavours
I loved that whatever it was

niceberg · 04/05/2021 19:55

HollowTalk the Preston bakery we bought them from definitely didn't call them Staffordshire oatcakes 🤓 but funnily enough I googled after posting and came across Staffordshire oatcakes and they do look very similar - I'd never heard that name before. Off to add to my Tesco order!
