Who is your favourite TV chef?

I love Ainsley Harrison. He comes across so well, really personable, kind, funny but not ott, and like he genuinely wants the novice to succeed in making good home cooked food.
Who do you like?

He gives me the creeps. I kind of enjoy Nigella sending herself up — I always imagining her snorting to herself as she thinks up new fruit to describe as ‘plumptious beauties’ — and I used to like Rachel Khoo’s Little Paris Kitchen, just because she managed to cook in a tiny rabbit hutch and make it look low-key chic.

Least favourite is a toss-up between Rick Stein and Nigel ‘Prissy and Dogmatic’ Slater and his leftovers neatly wrapped in brown paper and string.

I live the hairy bikers

Nigel & Nigella
Although I will watch anyone bar James Martin

Nigella

I find Rick Stein and Nigel Slater whiny

I loved Keith Floyd shows he was always so enthusiastic

Postern · 04/05/2021 00:29

Oh yes, the classic Keith Floyd ones where he’s flambéing something, mildly tiddled, on a barge in France.

DramaAlpaca · 04/05/2021 01:17

Anyone but Nigella.

waltzingparrot · 04/05/2021 01:38

I still like Jamie Oliver. Make his food a lot.

Also can't stand prissy Nigel. Pulling off individual thyme leaves and artfully arranging them on top of his sausages.

Pyewackect · 04/05/2021 01:45

Paul Hollywood

Delia Smith and the lady called Lorraine who did baking

RainbowMum11 · 04/05/2021 01:57

I love James Martin, I know it's controversial but I also like Gordon Ramsey.
Not so keen on Jamie Oliver

acatcalledjohn · 04/05/2021 02:07

Nadiya. The clip of her on horseback shouting 'wrong bra! Wrong bra!' was so funny.

FunTimes2020 · 04/05/2021 15:39

@Postern Really? What do you think it is about him?

FunTimes2020 · 04/05/2021 15:39

Lots of love for Nigella and Nadiya!

What’s wrong with you all? James Martin every single time.

That said the best cakes are Mary Berry or nigella.

iklboo · 04/05/2021 15:43

I met Keith Floyd at an 'evening with' book signing with ex-p. He kept getting his PA to refill our wine glasses (we were supposed to get one as part of the ticket price but we got loads) and was really funny & entertaining. Suppose 90 minutes went on nearly three hours.

MrsMoastyToasty · 04/05/2021 15:44

Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall is a favourite in our household.

Mysterian · 04/05/2021 15:52

Harry Bikers, Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa), and Rick Stein but more for the travelogue side of things.

AnneLovesGilbert · 04/05/2021 15:55

Nigel and Keith. I’m vegetarian but will watch them both cook anything.

roguetomato · 04/05/2021 15:55

Ina Garten, Barefoot Contessa.

whoamitojudge · 04/05/2021 16:00

Pioneer Woman, Barefoot Contessa, Nigel Slater

SarahAndQuack · 04/05/2021 16:13

I'll put in a vote for Monica Galetti. I like her. I love Nigel Slater's books but he is awful on TV, it's like one of those really awkward first dates where you realise you have no chemistry and they're still trying to tell you slooooowwwwlllly about their boring hobbies.

I got really cross about how Rick Stein treated his staff during the pandemic, so I dislike him.

Orgasmagorical · 04/05/2021 16:15

I love Nadiya.
