I love Ainsley Harrison. He comes across so well, really personable, kind, funny but not ott, and like he genuinely wants the novice to succeed in making good home cooked food.
Who do you like?

Gordon Ramsey

Marcus Wareing, for reasons that are obvious Blush

I met Michel Roux Jr when DH took me to La Gavroche on my 30th... (it was incredible) and he was a complete sweetheart, so I’ll always rate him.

I tend to prefer the working chefs who appear on programmes like Saturday Kitchen and Great British Menu to the ones who have their own shows: Reza Mahammad, Lisa Goodwin-Allen, Michael O'Hare, Alex Greene, and so on. I haven't a hope in hell of making their food (and I'm a vegetarian) but I do like watching the skill and imagination. I have made stuff I've seen made by Mary, Nigella, Nigel and the Hairy Bikers; good results but a lot of washing up.

I loved Nadiya on the Bake-Off but I find her shows very dull.

Delia Smith. I wish she'd do a new show.

No pretence, no sense you have to be 'cool' or understand her slang, or her fancy ingredients. She explains what things are, her thinking on things, and cooks recipes that WORK. Her 1970s shows where she explains what lentils are are AMAZING, and I learned lots from them.

I used to like Nigella but she cooks so little I can eat these days. Almost everyone else irritates me a little because it feels like its mostly about the persona more than the food.

I also love Nisha Katona. She makes everything look easy to make and is so passionate about spices

I like the Barefoot Contessa and the Pioneer Woman too, purely for the entertainment value. Ina and Jeffrey are hilarious.

For actual recipes, I like Jamie Oliver's programmes.

I still love Nigella. I like Nigel's recipes but don't particularly enjoy his TV shows. I like Ina, who kindly yet pityingly tells you that 'shop bought is fine'. The Pioneer Woman's recipes are too much for me. Everything seems to get a coating of M&Ms.

Rick Stein is far too pleased with himself (although I loved Chalky. RIP) and ever since he left his wife for a much younger woman my opinion declined even further.

Can't stand Gordon Ramsay and am pleased he's not as ubiquitous as he once was. James Martin is a bit dull, in his blazers, but his food looks good and I'd be as fat as a fool if I lived with him.

Marcus And Monica for my masterchef love.
And Michael o'Hare when he's on GBM, mostly for the hair and outfits.

Nigella and Nadiya.

I get stressed about the hairy bikers hair being near food.

Nigel Slater makes me want to sleep.

James Martin makes me worry, he is so sweaty, eats too much fat, I'm worried he's going to fall down dead from a heart attack into his gigantic Yorkshire pudding.

There's a guy on Ready Steady Cook, Greek chef that gives me a bit of a tingle.

We really like Nadiya. She makes me feel like I can make what she is making. Her recipes are quick and simple with no messing about. My DC love Nikki Lilly. She is a brilliant presenter with a bright future ahead of her. Her interviews with famous people she has baked for are lovely.

I used to like to watch Rick Stein's shows. I think he is a superb presenter and obviously brilliant chef. Unfortunately I have a big problem with the boringly predictable self importance that came after his first taste of success - see how he exited his marriage and basically took over a tiny town in Cornwall.

Still love to see little snippets of Keith Floyd on Saturday Kitchen.

The most amazing chef I've seen on TV was one of the Masterchef Professionals semi-finalists in 2016 - Matt Campbell. I don't think I've ever seen anyone cook in such an inspiring and innovative way.

Sadly, he collapsed and died when running the London Marathon for charity. I still think there is a hole in the world where he should be.

I like Tom Kerridge, James Martin and Daniel Clifford (when he's on GBM). Michael o'Hare is entertaining too but I would t fancy his food.

Monica and Marcus on MC too.

I cannot stand watching Nigella I find her extremely irritating.

I love watching baking shows like Zumbo’s just desserts and cupcake wars rather than regular cooking.

I like James Martin and Nadiya, hate Rick Stein - smug git. I like Simon Rimmer and his mate on Sunday Brunch.

Hate John Torode and his wife with a passion, and Jamie has become a parody of himself, and so patronising.

I do strangely enjoy Nigel - maybe he’s a bit ASMR?! and love Barefoot contessa too although I haven’t seen her for years. “4 sticks of budder and two cups of heavy cream - how bad can that be?!”

There was a guy called Dhruv on masterchef many moons ago who was gorgeous - I enjoyed watching him but can’t actually remember his food Grin

I can’t bear watching Two Fat Ladies since seeing them making pastry and Jennifer saying how she liked making pastry as it cleaned her nails Envy boak.

Ace of cakes is another one I’ve thought of. It’s set in Baltimore and the main baker Duff Goldman and his team are amazing

Jamie Oliver. Tasty food, easy to understand recipes, accessible produce or easy to replace if you can't find the exact thing. Lots of good ideas for every day cooking. He seems to have gotten over his olive oil obsession and chili obsession.
