Who is your favourite TV chef?

I love Ainsley Harrison. He comes across so well, really personable, kind, funny but not ott, and like he genuinely wants the novice to succeed in making good home cooked food.

Another of Keith Floyd's admirable qualities was his appreciation of using the best quality ingredients possible, so long as they were affordable. Always the 'affordable' caveat. He was fond of using pricey stuff like saffron and premium wines and olive oil in his recipes but cautioned that his viewers should 'always use the very best that YOU can afford'. Having said that, I think he was stretching the truth when he claimed that any wine that wasn't good enough to drink wasn't good enough to cook with. I've disputed that since I first heard it.

I totally agree that Ina Garten does have an enviable life. Being paid to cook and hang out with friends while her (presumably rich??) husband is working away from home...... who wouldn't want that?

I love Michael O’Hare, Michel Roux Junior, Monica Galleti, Nigella, Hairy Bikers, Raymond Blanc, Nadiya, Sabrina Ghayour, Lisa Allen. I think I watch too many cookery shows.

Loved James Martin until he lost the bandana then it all went wrong for me,
Nigel Slater always looks like he’s in need of a wash.
Could never watch Tamsin Day Lewis her hair was beyond irritating.
Lorraine Pascal is brilliant and easy to watch.
Delia is the goddess of the kitchen.
I remember Fanny Craddock from my childhood and still find her quite mesmerising, lm some of her programmes are available on Netflix or Prime

The Fanny Cradock shows the BBC repeat at Christmas are great. The food looks terrible but Fanny is absolutely mesmerising.

Nadiya, Jamie and Ina (we watch Barefoot to count the tbsp of salt).

Used to love Nigella but her programmes are such a parody now and some of her recipes are a bit odd.

Like Rick Stein's programmes but he is sometimes annoyingly patronising - we also play 'spot the second wife' - she obviously goes on film trips with him to stop him going off with a younger model (marrying the mistress and creating a vacancy.....)

Want to like the bikers but can't stand the joshing around.

Follow Nigel on Instagram and want his 'lifestyle', the trips to Japan, the puritan house, but am inclined to snigger at him slowly serving things back to front from a spoon.

Hugh uses too many puns. This gets annoying very quickly.

Delia's Christmas series is a classic.

Keith Floyd was my favourite. Not above making mistakes, using rudimentary kitchens and freely admitting he had a professional Home Economist (chef, in other words) doing much of the work. I used to quite like watching Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall until it became clear he was very up his own arse, didn't like being proved wrong or upstaged and stealing his employee-chefs' ideas. Git.

The most amazing chef I've seen on TV was one of the Masterchef Professionals semi-finalists in 2016 - Matt Campbell. I don't think I've ever seen anyone cook in such an inspiring and innovative way.

Sadly, he collapsed and died when running the London Marathon for charity. I still think there is a hole in the world where he should be.

I remember watching that series of Masterchef: The Professionals and thinking it was clear he was about to become a massive culinary star, and then he died just a few months later. It was so sad as he was just on the cusp of everything. Although he didn't win, he was probably the most memorable chef I've seen on that show.

Jamie Oliver. Tasty food, easy to understand recipes, accessible produce or easy to replace if you can't find the exact thing. Lots of good ideas for every day cooking. He seems to have gotten over his olive oil obsession and chili obsession.

I love watching baking shows like Zumbo’s just desserts and cupcake wars rather than regular cooking.

I like James Martin and Nadiya, hate Rick Stein - smug git. I like Simon Rimmer and his mate on Sunday Brunch.

Hate John Torode and his wife with a passion, and Jamie has become a parody of himself, and so patronising.

I do strangely enjoy Nigel - maybe he’s a bit ASMR?! and love Barefoot contessa too although I haven’t seen her for years. “4 sticks of budder and two cups of heavy cream - how bad can that be?!”

There was a guy called Dhruv on masterchef many moons ago who was gorgeous - I enjoyed watching him but can’t actually remember his food

I can’t bear watching Two Fat Ladies since seeing them making pastry and Jennifer saying how she liked making pastry as it cleaned her nails boak.
