Nor enough lighthearted threads on her tonight. So, what's something that you're family has a different word for.

For example, as kids, we always used to call fuzzy slippers "muffins".

Does anyone else have an Arrit drawer in the kitchen?

It's crammed with instruction booklets on Arrit Works...

(How it works for food processor, microwave, e.g. ). They are never consulted. Simply crammed into the Arrit drawer when you buy something new.

Fish and chips is always Chiss and Fips. Ladies trousers are slacks and it's always a frock not a dress.

Justlovedogs · 04/05/2021 02:30

My sister's exDH had a grandmother that used to call antibiotics antibollocks... Grin

lilsquish · 04/05/2021 05:58

BradleyCooperwillbemine · 04/05/2021 09:35

We have aggoos - which are eggs, because that is what my son called them when he was little. He doesn't like it when we call them that for some reason!

thinkIamdone · 04/05/2021 09:38

When little the youngest referred to the trampoline as the gam wee, so it always referred to it as that now.

thinkIamdone · 04/05/2021 09:39

Also when little the youngest would say he had sunny eyes. As in sun in my eyes!

caringcarer · 04/05/2021 09:40

We call lasagne basanga as when D's could not talk properly that is how he said it. Also flutterbys for butterflies.

Livebythecoast · 04/05/2021 09:44

We have lots and my daughter is 17 and some have stuck!
Mimit = minute - when she was little and asked to do something, it was always 'in a mimit'.
Beanies = sleep - I used to say 'go to sleepies', she thought I was saying beanies Hmm.
'Terry Masu' = tiramisu Grin
She also thought it was 'trickle treat' for 'trick or treat' at Halloween .

CaviarAndCigarettes · 04/05/2021 10:50

@caringcarer we say basagna over here too

UnlimitedChipsAndSalsa · 04/05/2021 11:11

From the sounds of these, I think I have some cute words in my future once DD starts talking. Smile

UnlimitedChipsAndSalsa · 04/05/2021 21:55

Well, I'm still amused by "fish hands". Wish there were more of these.

Microwave is called the “Insta maker” thanks to DS

Also, delivery people are called “delivery po”. Thanks Tinpo and CBeebies 😑

He’s recently started calling bedtime “sleepypaws” after the Moshi story. We read a couple of books together, then snuggle up and listen to that each night.

He calls our newborn “olliebob” which has now stuck!

For some reason, he calls potato wedges pizza - still haven’t been able to fathom that.

35andThriving · 17/05/2021 22:25

Stabiliser = Stapler

RealisticSketch · 17/05/2021 22:31

Sweaty gremlins instead of sweet dreams, after the I love you and just about to close the door at bedtime. Grin
Elephants = Ellyflumps

35andThriving · 18/05/2021 08:04

Grin Sweaty gremlins is so cute!

JackieWeaverIsMySpiritAnimal · 18/05/2021 08:14

In this house we eat "sketti hoops" and "barking queue sauce." DSS is now 15 but these have stuck along with tinned "ravoli."

It's not one that comes up often these days, but Thomas the Tank Engine is still "Toss the Tankinger" in my grandparents house from when I was a child.

I am 37 and my grandad is still "angad." He wouldn't want to be called anything else. I also used to call my grandma "eurgh" and will still revert back to it when I need to get round her for anything.

Duckyneedsaclean · 18/05/2021 08:53

@SkiingIsHeaven seekh kebab is called donkey cock here too! Still eat it though
