Needs to be family friendly as my toddler loves pasta and all I can muster up is bolognese !!

Thinly slice a courgette per person, fry with a little garlic very gently for twenty mins or so until it’s all a bit if a mush. Stir in a spoonful of double cream per person and some grated cheese.

This from HughFW is a great favourite of mine - you can maybe tell from the way I wrote it I’m normally cooking for one.

LagneyandCasey · 03/05/2021 20:14

Stir Philadelphia, chives, cooked peas and chopped bacon into hot cooked pasta.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/05/2021 20:17

Finely cut an onion and a couple of cloves of garlic. Dice a couple of courgettes (lose the seedy bits). Finely chop a red chilli. Fry the onions and garlic in butter then add the courgettes and chilli and cook until just softened. eat with pasta and Parmesan. Delicious, and I don't normally like courgettes.

cooked chicken , roasted cherry tomatoes, squeeze of lemon
Stir through cooked pasta - I like fusilli - with spinach and pesto

For adults toasted pine nuts on top
Parmesan for all

Cleverpolly3 · 03/05/2021 20:18

@LagneyandCasey

Stir Philadelphia, chives, cooked peas and chopped bacon into hot cooked pasta.
Another option would be cooked salmon instead of bacon
Bobbiepin · 03/05/2021 20:19

Bake some salmon, cook off green beans and peas, and cheese sauce. Stir it all together- yum!

Cleverpolly3 · 03/05/2021 20:20

Also a jarv of chargrilled artichokes and roasted peppers heated briefly in a hot oven then mixed with some spaghetti in red pesto all combined then topped with crumbled feta and some fresh herbs and lemon is lovely

This sounds delicious.

Look up Pasta Grannies on YouTube. Their recipes are so simple, but so effective ❤️

Dancingalong · 03/05/2021 20:30

Bacon, leeks and mushrooms cooked off in a bit of oil, mixed into the pasta with some marscapone. My kids fave meal.

Lozza70 · 03/05/2021 20:34

This, just lose the vermouth if feeding a toddler as well. Just use cream cheese if you cannot be bothered to buy mascarpone. Super quick.

Carbonara - cook pasta, cook chopped up bacon. When the pasta is cooked and drained, put it back in the pan and stir in egg (beaten, with a bit of cream or creme fraiche if you have it) and the cooked bacon. Serve with a grating of cheese. The quickest dinner ever - from start to finish in 10 mins.

Nigella's spaghetti with marmite. As quick as carbonara! (maybe 30s quicker!)

Squeeze sausages out of their skins, and fry like mince, adding whatever veg you fancy and maybe a tin of toms.

reluctantbrit · 03/05/2021 20:54

Pan fried bacon and chicken, some fresh rosemary and black peppers, add double cream. Mix all with Farfalle pasta and add cheese if needed.

FurrySlipperBoots · 03/05/2021 20:58

Boil some pasta (or use a ready sachet!)

Stir a tablespoon or 2 of hummus into it, and a few finely chopped veggies or peas/sweetcorn

Microwave it for a few secs to reheat

Sprinkle a handful of grated cheese on top

Serve

A previous favourite when my DC were little, still request it's teens.
Hot Dog pasta! Mix cooked pasta with Passata, spoonful of pesto, squeeze of garlic puree, sweetcorn and then slice in Hot Dog sausage.
Or Hot Pasta with butter and marmite stirred in... Nigella recipe!

mamaduckbone · 03/05/2021 21:03

Cook broccoli in with the pasta, drain and stir in pesto and cooked bacon and/or leftover roast chicken. Parmesan on the top. It's been a staple since our two were little and it's still one of their favourites now as giant teens.

Marmite27 · 03/05/2021 21:06

Cooked pasta. Campbells condensed chicken soup with a splash of milk and chopped ham.

This was a camping recipe that called for tinned ham that the kids begged for at home. I usually make it the week after doing a roast gammon joint (chop the left overs up and sling in the freezer) but you can buy ham chunks in the cold meat bit in our supermarket. Or, indeed the tinned ham route!

fridaseyebrows · 03/05/2021 21:06

Parboil some broccoli, then chop up roughly and fry in olive oil with pancetta, garlic (sometimes I add some chilli depending on who I’m cooking for). Smash up the broccoli a bit as it cooks down and add some of the pasta cooking water as you go. Broccoli kind of disintegrates. Serve with Oriecchette pasta (ear shaped ones) and lots of grated Parmesan. My kids favourite at the moment.

A fishy one, some white fish (swordfish if feeling extravagant but works really well with cod cheeks from the fishmonger) with olive oil, garlic, then LOADS of fresh baby tomatoes. I usually add some olives if I’ve got some too.

Sausage and fennel ragu (a different take on bolognese) - fry down pieces of good quality sausage meat with loads of fennel seeds, chopped onion and garlic. Add a jar of Passata and simmer. (I find this works really well if cooked in advance).

Other favourite here is soup pasta / pasta in broth. I usually make a vegetable broth with potato, carrot, onion, celery (whatever is at home) and they cook baby pasta (stars usually) again loads of grated parmesan on top. If feeling lazy I might use boullion powder to make the broth rather thank cooking it properly!

My husbands favourite is with chickpeas - so fry some pancetta, diced onion and garlic. Add a can of chickpeas and then some passata / chopped tomatoes (but not too much - a few tablespoons). Serve usually with conchilge shapes.

Bacon, leeks and mushrooms cooked off in a bit of oil, mixed into the pasta with some marscapone. My kids fave meal.
This also works well with low fat creme fraiche - one of our favourite meals.

Chicken, pesto and roasted cherry tomatoes.

Arrabiatta - garlic, tomatoes, seasoning, chilli flakes and a dash of balsamic.

EcoCustard · 03/05/2021 21:09

A few of mine are mentioned above, carbonara, and bacon or salmon with peas or mushrooms with mascarpone or cream cheese and I serve with purple sprouting broccoli on the side.
Roasted or pan fried baby tomatoes stirred through spaghetti or linguine with herbs and olive oil. Eldest Dc won’t eat any tomato based sauces so I slice black olives and mix through spaghetti or linguine with fresh herbs and olive oil, all the dc love it. I also get our local butchers sausages and make them into small meatballs served with a creamy garlic and herb sauce (sweated shallot, garlic then double cream and a little herb) and serve with any pasta, they don’t like leek so I serve some broccoli on the side. You could slice sausage up though.

Tombero · 03/05/2021 21:18

Since being tiny mine have loved easy tuna pasta bake.
Fry chopped onion then add tinned tomatoes and mixed herbs. Blend with a stick blender till smooth.
Boil pasta.
Mix it together in an ovenproof dish with tinned tuna and frozen sweet corn.
Add grated cheddar or Parmesan on top.
Put in oven for 20 mins or so until it bubbles.

OliveHenry · 03/05/2021 21:21

I fry off whatever bits of bacon I have lurking in the fridge, add some frozen peas and blue stilton, then make into a sauce with creme fraiche (or sometimes cream, sometimes greek yogurt). Plenty of black pepper and then stir in cooked pasta (whatever shape is in the cupboard).

EcoCustard · 03/05/2021 21:26

@OliveHenry going to have to save some Stilton and try that. It sounds delicious.

Wellysock · 03/05/2021 21:27

Boil a 500g pasta of fusilli. Once cooked, pop it in a big dish with 2 tins of chicken soup, 2 tins of tuna, a tin of sweetcorn and loads of black pepper. Top with grated cheddar and pop in the oven until it's golden on top. Super easy, not hugely healthy but pretty tasty.
